The person in there is the furthest person from anywhere else on the ship, except the escape pods. If you get assigned those quarters, the captain is trying to tell you something.
The external model seems to be not a Nova class but the alternate future version of whatever Harry Kim's ship was (the Rhode Island) in Voyager's Endgame. The nova didn't have that dome above the bridge, and the secondary deflector on the front of the saucer section wasn't filled in, but rather was set back into the forward section with quite a big chunk taken out of the nose of the saucer. The deflector on the front of the saucer is the secondary, not primary. The primary is the bigger one where they usually are on fed ships. Those strips on the ventral of the saucer are phasers, not sensors, and the escape pod hatches on the exterior model are huge and don't line up with the interior locations you've highlighted. Other than that, good job!
I have literally built a dozen version of this ship in minecraft. Full 1 to 1 scale with complete interiors. The ship is a fantastic ship for building in Minecraft. the size is perfect. Compare it to the Enterprise D and E that I also built in full 1 to 1 scale (Can be toured on both Minetrek and TrekCraft servers) the Nova was a breeze. I also enjoyed the Voyager. Building that in comparison to the Nova took twice as long. But Love the Nova. She was one of the first ships I built and I still think about building another. Great little ship.
that sounds awesome! i made a VERY similar ship in a game called Empyrion Galactic Survival (i highly recommend it) its a voxel style, open 'universe' game where you can build Capital ships, small ships, hover vehicles, and bases / star bases (and or combine them to make technically difficult things easier, like turbolifts being small ships inside shafts of a Capital ship), the free-build mode lets you build with impunity, and the symmetry tools let you build federation ships (at least the hull) in half the time. It even has slice away features (by axis) so you can recreate HALFSCREEN deck by deck analysis, or cut the ship in half and enjoy a side video like on the LCARS screen. if you have steam, i highly recommend checking the game out, and checking out the workshop - where some truly amazing star trek content can be found.
Can you do a rough floor plan of the blackbird class that would be brilliant, the nova class and defiant class deck plans may help for easier ideas of a starfleet vessel
I love your mc designs of this beautiful ship. I already built it like 4 times on different mc survival servers, including one where Markiplier and Wade used to play when they had less than 10k subscribers :-D. I also finished outer hull in a game called ECO, which is quite hard do because of detailed and hard crafting/resource management there. If you want, send me your email and I can send you screenshots. Sadly server is wiped now, but it was promised to me to get the map. :)
A Nova Class Starship also has 11 Type-Xb phaser arrays, and 2 standard forward torpedo tubes, left over from her original design as a warship. We usually fire science probes from the launch tubes (a photon torpedo is just a probe with a warhead attached) but, we were forced to enter combat zones during the Dominion War. Deck 2 of our ship has been turned over to the Medical Department, which gives us the "Advanced Sickbay Advantage" in-game, and is the reason why we were assigned to pick up any survivors in escape pods during the war. Our usual mission profile is First Response for medical disasters, as well as scientific surveys. Our engines have just been upgraded to a "10" which means we can now make Warp 9.6 for 12 hours.
Once again, another great video As a kid in the mid 90's i absolutely loved the technical manuals, i had the TOS, TNG, and DS9 books, and often used them for inspiration and their design styles to draw up my own deck designs, these videos, though notably higher quality in deck by deck explanations, sure do bring back a nostalgia factor.
Having done 3D modeling and animation for more than a decade, I have to come to appreciate these technical manuals more and more due to the creativity and thought made to each ship. These designers have put a lot time and thought to these schematic.
Thank you for using one of the shots of my ship, USS Twilight, in your video (even if you got the length wrong! She's 221.74 or 222 meters overall, NOT just 165! Rick Sternbach her designer said as much in the Eaglemoss Magazine No. 15.)
The Nova class’s angular edges give it an aggressive look. This design seems better suited as an anti-cloak patrol/ scout ship from a fan perspective. I love the look and hate that it was used as a Oberth replacement. It should be a Defiant complement sacrificing arms and armor for highly effective sensors, deployment time and speed.
that's a good point, I've noticed on several videos the ships don't exactly match up in size to their models (the defiant being an example, or as you pointed out the Sovereign being only marginally larger then the Nova in this vidoe) however, i think a lot of that has something to do with poor canonical writing and design, and multiple 'official' schematics that contradict each other. that being said, a lot of work goes into making these videos, and i'll gladly take the occasional mistakes over no content at all.
The "Rhode Island" version of the Nova Class is probably my favorite ship design (or maybe tied with the Sovereign Class). Simple little ship, but looks more solid than ships with skinny little connections between main and secondary hulls, as well as hulls to nassels.
@4:10 you you talk about the main navigational deflector on the secondary hull (engineering section), but your graphic highlights the smaller, secondary deflector array at the front of the primary hull (saucer section)

This is beautiful work! You should be proud of this! To me, the Nova-and_Intrepid Classes made a lot more sense as science/exploration vessels then a Galaxy-and-Nebula classes. More sense in regards for cost of material and construction. I can actually see a few of them working in-tandem, quickly exploring unexplored sectors as small teams. And the ability of a science vessel being able to land on new planets, turning it into land-bound lab, had to be a considerable bonus. (The Intrepid-class was also cool.)
I ABSOLUTELY love the Nova Class design!!! This ship seems more of a replacement for the Oberth Class canoe....err ship. And a far better replacement it is. And although it seems suited for scientific missions, it's fairly straightforward layout seems to hint at a rather capable, and powerful gunboat. Also, it seems to have the potential to replace the Miranda Class as well. A very long and distinguished career as the Federation's "Jeep" or SUV of starships. A workhorse more for work, less for show. Although to its credit, the Nova Class has a pleasing aesthetic. But with considerable advances in Federation Weaponry, it would stand to show that the Nova could very well act as a heavy bruiser alongside the legendary Defiant Class. And with work, the Nova could become its own "Attack" starship complimenting the Defiant's "Fighter Assault" capability. Even a new, cloaked, faster, and more heavily armed Nova. How about the "Sparta" Attack Class Nova? And the first strike team ships would be: USS Rocky Balboa Defiant lead: USS Ivan Drago USS Apollo Creed 2nd Strike Team: USS Muhammed Ali Defiant 2nd Wing: USS Mike Tyson USS Evander Holyfield

Next ship to do: Oberth. So people will have the reference for fanfiction stories happening on that ship. For as fragile as it is, it deserves it's own moment under spotlight, or even as "Hero Ship" of it's own.

And the first strike team ships would be:
USS Rocky Balboa
Defiant lead: USS Ivan Drago
USS Apollo Creed
2nd Strike Team:
USS Muhammed Ali
Defiant 2nd Wing: USS Mike Tyson
USS Evander Holyfield
Got confused as to where the labs are on the science ship
Level 1, the port rear corner has zero access as drawn
When California Class?
So, 2 turbolifts on deck 1 with nowhere to go on the other decks?
there is a turbolift at the midsection of each deck.
