- In this video I show you how to program a new FRM module to your BMW using the INPA suite of software. Use INPA to establish and verify a connection. Program the VIN with WINKFP. Use NCS Expert to program the VO (vehicle order) and then code the FRM for your car also with NCS Expert.

I am one of those people that needs to have my hand held to lead me where I need to go on a computer. The final process was to execute the job to finish but you did not say which F button to use to execute the job. Other than that it is a fabulous video. I hope i can do this job and make us both proud.

Yeah i picked one and it failed. Also couldnt change my vin with winkfp as option wasnt there.
Kind of a let down.
Turns out in the settings there's an option to input vin in comfort mode.
Still didnt work lol
@@bengreen-plant809 same here. No option to enter VIN. And even though I can make the same selections he did in winkfp none of the text is dark…almost like it’s greyed out.

Does this work for FRM modules that have stopped working due to dead battery? Or does this only work on new parts?

Can you possibly make a video showing the relationship between WinKFP, INPA and NCS Expert? I noticed you bounce between them and I would like to know why. What does each of them do.
WinKFP is for updating the software on modules, INPA is for reading information and fault codes, and NCS Expert is for changing parameters within the software on the ECU, also known as coding.

Well done... (and tbh I probably wouldn’t dare doing this job without a full run-through like this one).. my guess is that a dealer here would charge at least 200 euro for this.. I had them do a simple DME calibration and fuel-trim reset after replacing the valvetronic motor (a very simple job in inpa) - it cost me about 150 euro after some bargaining (always ask for special quote from the stealers)
4 years later I'm having the exact problem and intend to fix it myself.
Did you manage to fix it and make it work properly following this guide?

2. Load Profile and select Expertmodus(offen)
3. F1 (VIN/ZCS/FA)
4. F3 (ZCS/FA f .ECU)
5. Choose the car (E89 for e9x)
6. Select CAS
7. F6 (BACK)
8. F4 (Process ECU)
9. Select the Module you want to Revert back to Stock.
10. F2->Choose "SG_Codieren->ok
11. F3->to start coding the ecu with factory settings according to the vehicle VO.
12.Done, this will copy all your previous frm settings from CAS module.
This is how i coded my used frm module, i did vin with tool32 first, but i dont think it's necessary to use tool32, but u can do it aswell if u like.

My dipped beam wasn't working, took it to a garage. They charged me 2.5 hours to reprogram the module and delete the hard coded errors. Could I just have done this??
Hope this gets a response but would this work for just resetting the module back to factory? cuz my FRM module in my 335xi has all the LED lighting things activated from previous owner and i want to disable them all becuase i believe its causing my projectors to not work right. Thanks!

Hi. I this video I cannot see FRM coding like FA_WRITE. You are only doing CAS and NFRM default coding. So, where is the copy of coding from the CAS to FRM? Or FRM = NFRM?
So this is a complete guide on how to recode a frm module. I am asking because I accidentally connected an amplifier the wrong way and the frm module didn't like that. But nothing is physically broken, think it's just that the software need to be recoded.
Hi! My winKFP says update ZUSB och f3 and there is no ”update ecu”. When i click update ZUSB i get the same window as you but no fimilies. Please help!! :D

H i have problem with mirrors practically do not work. There is no broken wire or other no errors in diagnosis. What do you suggest me? is it possible to restore FRM or find the problem in its file?

sir, I had to change my FRM, now my outside mirror no longer works and parktronic also no longer works, when I put in reverse gear, nothing happens - do I have to do the same as in the video?

i tried change vin with winkfp, but i get some of this error, when its at like 6-12%
7054 Error clear flash done - no answer from ECU (IFH-0009) but gateway o.k., no OPPS/Most

I read that some of the pins are different on FRM3 and then some of the stuff wont work like xenon shutters for high beams, did those work for you fine?

hi, I have the following problem: I have retrofitted the LCI headlights with cornering lights and the right headlight lights up to the left when you steer to the right. I wired everything correctly and coded it correctly, no errors in the on-board computer, what else can you do so that the right headlight swivels correctly to the right?

Have a 2013 E70 x5 35d. Hoping to change the FRM myself. Assuming the steps are near identical? What are the chances of completely discombobulating the Cars electronic/computer system and creating more trouble than I’m starting with?

In NCSexpert. When I try to do it the 2nd time and select NFRM in chassis I get a VIN is faulty error
This is usually due to incorrectly stored FA number, someone probably coded this car with some other tool like Launch or similar...
do i need frm2 to do anything wih my headlights. i have an 06 and in bimmecode all i have is brightness... for day time running lights. no option to set adapative lights as day time running
I have a E70 no interior lights no power window no indicator and my door keep saying it's open but even when it's not, I tried to connect the dcan cable but it's not detecting what can I do, I just wanted to use INPA to check if it's my FRM is bad.

If you have corrupt coding on old FRM and fit new FRM will the coding be factory or will it bring the old coding to the new one?
Does anyone know if turning on your car and leaving it running while coding the FRM module will have any negative effect to the whole process, is it safer to just leave it turned off and hook it up to a trickle charger?

I was just told by my bmw dealer if I replace the FRM I need to replace the RDC aswell and both need to be recoded. Is this true ?
Hi when I click the module MSV80 in WINKFP it gives me 2 option Default or ECU=MW,ADDR=12 under intergration position. Should i just choose default or both thanks in advance

that was a helpful tutorial. Curious is WINKFP and NCS Expert included in INPA? Or are these freeware? I've been using an autel system, and tired of paying their exorbitant membership dues. Would like to pay for a daily BMW programming license for $30 and schedule all my jobs for one day a week. Much cheaper and more efficient to do it that way. Have a decent laptop, just need to get started. Perhaps you can recommend a how to tutorial on setting up the basic software like you demoed in this vid. Nice work thanks
I downloaded this for free from Bimmergeeks.net I believe they also have a set up guide for you to follow. Just need to be running windows.

I have just retro fitted bi adaptive xenon lights to my e90 LCI. I have bought a second hand AHL frm 2 module and installed that also at first I had errors on my dash ref HBA. I have now fitted HBA to my car and now no errors on dash. I want all the features to work ie HBA , RLS , and the adaptive lights. First will I need to follow this procedure even with a module from another car ?
Yes. The module from another car will have that car’s vin on it, you need to code your vin to it. Just follow the steps in this video and you’re golden!

This is a service reminder symbol. Check your infotainment system and see if it says your inspection is due or something.

2 after 2 days later status msg. DBC RPA DSC TIRE PRESSURE came on status i thing battery i dont know battery voltage 12.35 after stop the engine
3. Can i erase frm files where is it download new files i dont know after i need coding or not coding i dont know

FYI. If you have a MacBook you can use a virtual machine and run windows 7 to use IMPA and other bmw software.
Yes I have downloaded oracles virtual machine but I haven’t set it up yet. I’m also not sure how having to use a usb-c adapter will effect anything if at all.
BMW-E90-HQ I use virtual box on a 2018 MBP and it works fine with the apple adaptor. You just select the device in virtual box.
So I followed these instructions and now I have an abs light on and my windows don’t roll up or down.

Hopefully someone here can help. I'm having FRM module related issues. I tried to go in and code it like in this video, but with cable connected and ignition on, INPA says that it can't connect to the FRM. WINKP connects to the CAS just fine, but not FRM. I'm assuming this means that the FRM module needs to be replaced? Yesterday I disconnected the battery for about 8 hours while I was refinishing the interior of the car, if this helps. I can give more info if you need in order to help.

It should. I used 10. XP is ideal but not many people have it.

No. I read that I might but it installed just fine.
My FRM went out when I cleared the error codes with INPA. Will following this restore the current FRM?
I am not sure. It depends on your situation. For mine it would not, but it is possible it might.

Hey Man thanks for the video I find it so usefull. Okay so I have a problem with my headlight Left side turn signal never turns off or blinks. After a lot of troubleshooting and I paid a guy to look into everything points to my FRM module. I got the module used from Ebay. Its module FRM II same exact part number. Would this procedure would work for programming my used FRM II ? Do you have any tips? I'm gonna try to do it myself this Thursday coz the guy wants 150$ for the programming.
It’s the same except for instead of choosing NFRM or FRM3 you would choose your module I believe it’s FRM2 in the list but I can’t remember.

Hey so I have a used frm2 module and I’ve installed it in my frm1 car. They’re both from similar spec e90’s so we’re good there. When I used winKFP to code the frm2 to my vin it went through it’s processes and said done or successful or whatever it says. Then when I went into ncs and I did fa_write then I went to the frm module and the vin was still different? Also there’s talk about changing the date? Anyway you could get in contact with me? In need of help!!
So I know the process for doing an frm2 will vary slightly. Did you choose the appropriate one. When I chose nfrm you would choose frm2.
BMW-E90-HQ I think the main issue was the fact that I tried to change the vin with winKFP and the first time it said it worked but it didn’t. Then when I tried to do it again the program errors out

No that needs taking out and sending for repair
So if the FRM is available (visible ) on INPA then this process with work otherwise it will need eppeom reprogramming. Correct?

Yes it should be the same.
It would be different if it were say an f30 or an e46. But since it’s an e9x your process is the same.
