Upgraded N54 Waterpump? Installing Vargas Turbo Coolant Hose Kit!

- The one thing bmw didn’t recall finally has an upgrade. We’ve got an all Aluminum Waterpump from O’Reilly to install along with the Vargas Turbo Silicon coolant hose kit. As always let me know what you think of the video and recommend what you’d like to see in the future.

Great video, I just ordered a set myself & this was the only video I could find online with the same red ones I ordered. I do hear in the video you got really bad engine lifter tick!
Definitely looking into these vtt hose kit. I was red under hood but thinking bout going blue .. red looks good tho.
Change them vacumm lines. I had those and dust and grime is attracted to the soft type rubber.
Yeah that’s just an issue with pretty much any non-coated silicone. Just know that the hose kit is the same. Since it’s serves as a cosmetic add on in addition to the functional aspect, I’m guessing it’s assumed the bay will be kept spotless.
If I were going through all this effort I'd also do a CSF radiator. Love that hose kit but I'm a little less flashy and would do black.
I had actually been holding onto this kit for a couple months. I had just got enough for the water pump when I made this so extra things were out of the question. But I'd like to go all out on this car, but I want to finish the Z and maybe start on another project I have in mind first.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! All the music I use is from EpidemicSound. All except my intro and outro. I’m unsure of the name but I can try and find it again.
So I’ve been using epidemic sound for the last few years and unfortunately this was just a few months before the switch so it’s a royalty free song somewhere here in YT. I’ll try and dig through my files soon and see if I can get you a title.

Hey man, did you eventually find out why the U coolant hose was leaking? Thinking of ordering the kit
If I were to guess it was a lack of pressure in the system with a combo of the tolerance of the fitting and the oring. Seeing as how it stopped leaking after a few, that’s the conclusion I came to. I’m guessing the orings do swell a bit since it never leaked when cold after the initial leak stopped.
I don’t know how you installed the overflow coolant hose. Mine didn’t fit so had to get OEM fitment on it
From what I remember, the overflow feed had a little play but didn't leak. The overflow drain is an absolute PIA. I'm Guessing I didn't have much of an issue with it this go around because I replaced the overflow itself.
How is the O’reily water pump holding up? Is it an upgrade and would you still recommend it over another water pump

Im having trouble getting the thermostat to cylinder head hose on, did you run the hose down from the top to the thermostat or from the bottom up? And how did you run it through the engine
I ran it from the bottom up if I remember correctly. If you look up pics of the front of an n54 you should see the path the hose takes if you’ve already taken the hose off without taking note. There is a clip that will hold it down to the the turbo intake though. The path isn’t super complex luckily.
Are you going s13 coils or the bolt on ones like powertrix? For the z
S13 coils with hub adapter welded on.

One year later? How are the hoses and fittings holding up?
Their holding up great, I have no leaks and any fluids that have dripped on the hoses don't seem to have altered the integrity of the hoses whatsoever.
So what was your over all solution for the leak. I’m having the same issue and I’ve tried two different sized o rings
If you mean the coolant leak, it sealed after driving it for a lil. I guess the undersized the o-rings knowing they’d swell and seal. Which would explain why it’s such a pain in the ass to remove any of the lower hoses. If you mean the oil leak, absolutely nothing. I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’m going to have to pull the engine to figure out where it’s coming from. It’s so insignificant at this point though that it’s not high on my priority list. Especially since it’s not contaminating my oil.

Going pretty well! The car has been sitting since august, as its no longer my daily and I'm working on Miso (my z31 300zx). Once that's in working order, the 335 will become my actual racecar and we'll see if they can hold under the increases stress.

Everything is holding up great! No leaks or anything so so far so good.

Well, the car has been sitting for the better part of a year due to either a trans or transfer case issue. However, just about 3 years with them and it’s hasn’t leaked other than the time in the video.
on any of them on the vargas kit ever leak? alot of ppl said the hose from the radiator to the t stat leaked on the t stat side............... also how has the aluminum water pump been working out for you?
Only one did, I just re-seated the o-ring and it sealed right up!
damn.............. I watched the entire video and it did leak............... shit man, i'm gonna order an oem one for that one lower hose and call it a day
Yeah, honestly it’s mainly an aesthetic mod. If you only really need to replace 2-3 hoses then just go with oe.

It has not. We getting close to 2 years without a leak, granted I haven’t driven it much in the last few months since getting a new daily. However this will become my race build after the Z is running again.

Could have, yes. Im not sure if they honor warranties if you don't have the car the part is for. I had seen that before and its for the n52.
Wouldn’t it fit the n55 too
I don’t see why it wouldn’t, however I’m not entirely sure. You may want to research the part numbers for the n54 and n55 hoses to see if they are the same. That’s what I have to do when finding certain parts for the Z. You could also just look and see if they match but with how these cars are sometimes one hose may be like 2” shorter and screw up the whole swap.
Your BMW is pretty loud around the front end for some reason.
Vavle tick as well as an exhaust leak I’m sure. If you watch my exhaust install you’ll understand why lol
@@FatalRPM most be the exhaust leak because I could hear the valve tick but something else was there. lol. good luck on the project. I just spent $2k this week ordering parts for my 135I Ill be installing before making my trip to ATL because I wont have a place to work on my car for a while until I buy a house.
