- One of the most common questions I see floating around the BMW community is if big intercoolers are overkills on FBO (Full bolt ons) cars. Some think you will get slower turbo spool, less responsiveness and overall a slower car. I've had my fair share of experience with my e93 335i by running a VRSF 7.5" Race Front Mount Intercooler and Honestly never felt like the car was negatively affected. Today I have the guys at Precision Sport Industries install a intercooler onto my BMW E90 335i and have them answer the question many have been curious about.

I dont understand why some people blip the throttle WHILE releasing the clutch in first gear at a full stop. Why people, your just semi disengaging the clutch for a longer period of time as supposed to doing the normal thing and NOT blipping the throttle while disengaging the clutch in first gear. To me, it just tells me that those people dont know the proper way to drive a manual, and those same people probably rest their foots on the clutch pedal while driving

Bro VRSF is an ebay company. Up until the great enshittening of ebay motors they literally sold on ebay, they started on ebay, and for the longest time time they were selling the EXACT same parts as SS Autochrome aside from the VRSF logo stenciled on SOME of the intercoolers, and even then you'd often get them without the logo.

whats the problem with going full bolt on with the single turbo?
There’s no problem being fbo as single turbo, but he’s probably saying taking off the fbo bcuz the single turbo kit has no use for the stock intake/inlet system as well as the downpipes which are both major components to being “fbo”. Only parts he can really keep is the Intercooler, exhaust, and chargepipe. Which technically isn’t fbo, but really for a ST N54s it is considered fbo lol. Hope that explains it

I have a n55 and was thinking of going fbo. If i copped this intercooler and was running about 400hp. Would it be cooling too much for that hp or is this recommended for hp over 500?
I ran it on FBO 335i for a year and was great. It's the better option if you're looking to chase more power later on.

bro, i have a 135i and i want this intercooler. Im on stage 2+ MHD. should i get the 7.5 ? will i experience lag with the bigger IC and stock turbo ? im also getting the VRSF aluminum outlets and inlets too
You won't have an issue with lag. We sell all the parts directly on our website so let us know if you have any other questions.

I love the channel guys as well as Swap Depot. (Swap Depot helped me put my "Ducks" in a row by answering a question about the escaping Ducks from his E91 outlet I think. Thank you! Then I shot them LOL!). I had a 335i back in 2014 and I brought it to a tuning shop in my city. They checked if the car had an oil cooler which it did then told me they could put a stage 2 tune on the car. So I said sure and the car made 389 hp and 412 ftlbs. (Crank I would think but they showed me the dyno numbers which was I think adjusted). No changes to the car at all. It was amazing how much torque that stock car had. They didn't put on a different air intake even just a K&N filter in the stock air intake box. Now I have a 335XI and FBO's with 17T turbos which is insane compared to that old car LOL. But if someone wanted to get their stock car tuned and no bolt on's they can go to a tuner and get some pretty serious HP.
Can't wait to see the power the big single makes.

Was shattered when you gave away your e93. Thought you wouldn’t be making anymore vids, I have owned a black e93 335i for a few months 190xxx kms (Aussie bimmer enthusiast). So the fact you bought a high mile N54 is even better. Love all your Content mate! Literally just took the punt and ordered A 7.5 intercooler cooler, catless dp’s and charge pipe from VRSF a few hours before I saw your new vids! Already done the plugs,coils and OFHG will probably need to do the oil pan as well. Absolute legend mate...Love your work!

I have a question. When doing videos. Please tell me why you don’t show how he putting intercooler hook up on the turbo and charge pipe. You make it seem so easy and it’s not that way. If you going to show the insulation then show the hard part for people no what to do or expect

LOVE how you went through the intercooler connecters on 12:55 because I may be having issues with this. I have the ARM 7'' race intercooler with the stock gem connectors, I just got my upgraded twins installed and im now having boost leaks and we believe it may be coming from them connectors because im not clamped properly? any insight?
buy the upgraded pipes and 3.5" clamps.

Maybe get a new front bumper that looks more modern? I don’t like how these stock M bumpers look on this car. Not that my opinion matters but it’s something to maybe think about😂

You will need methanol or e85 or something mixed with the pump gas if you're running high boost but yes they can be reliable

@@VehicleVirals fair but isnt the catalog of parts small for vrsf ie. Exhaust and intake piping, charge pipes, intercoolers.. burgers got port injection manifolds & controllers, fuel system mods like pumps and e85 modules and lots of electronic mods, 2 step, anti lag, the jb4 but prolly not needed in a serious ST builds and the list goes on. On the other hand they don't have exhaust but there's better systems then the vrsf imo granted twice the cost.

The logic behind a larger intercooler having more lag is sound, but in practice my n54 has almost zero lag, despite having 2" outlets, 900ci intercooler ("1000whp") and 3 inch to the tb *on stock turbos* - consider that the volume of the intercooler is much less than the volume of all of the rest of the chargepiping.
What intercooler are you running?
@@tickandslug PSP900ic (Pinnacle Specialty Performance) - They don't make them anymore but the closest to it currently out there is the VRSF race. IAT's are never an issue even at over 20psi boost for long hard driven canyon runs in 90*+ weather.
