The Only REAL Way To Make Your BMW Reliable - Everything You Need (335i N54)

  • The BMW 335i is one car that is talked a lot for several reasons. They are affordable, they have insane tuning potential and they also have their fair share of reliability concerns. The number one question I get via my social media platforms, is how do I make my BMW reliable. Well to answer this question on a mass level I decided to make a dedicated video on maintenance. My car is about to get a bottom mount single turbo kit from Doc Race (DR700) which means my car will need all the maintenance it can get before attempting to make big power. In this video I'll have the guys at Precision Sport Industries drop the N54 engine and replace every single part that is known to fail.

We always get nervous when we see the words N54 and Reliable in the same sentence.... 😂 That said, you're doing things right by tackling all the major maintenance issues in one shot thought Cristian! Now you know we've got you covered when things get wild with that single turbo life 😁

Engine out service is best way to tackle this.

    Oil filter housing gasket

    Thermostat and electric water pump…

I am always contemplating buying a 350z, 370z, or c5 corvette, but than you remind me of how amazing an n54 bmw can be with the proper maintenance and I just want to get one e90 or e92. I guess what just scares me a little is it breaking on me and which makes me wonder how much I would have to spend. Either way I love your channel and enjoy the content. I've heard a lot of negative comments about the n54 335i. That being said, when it does run right it is an absolutely incredible car. And you can buy one right now at a decent price. I do want one but I am just afraid that I would not be able to afford all the maintenance. So I'm going to wait just a little bit longer until I can figure out exactly what needs to be done to the car that will ensure that it will run for at least 50,000 miles without any major issues. This video was very informative. Thank you

Wonder what you ended up doing. I’m in the same boat. Everyone who’s been through these tells me just stay away or are one of those cars that’s down getting repairs or “maintenance” more then your driving it.

@@mysixfo8805I just bought one with 83,000 miles, the previous owner did a lot of maintenance with receipts from a reputable local shop. So far the car is good so go for it man it’s worth it!

@@mysixfo8805So the thing is, they definitely do need a lot of work and you need to know how to work on a motor yourself to get your budgets worth. That being said, if you know how to work on motors and have some money in savings for the main failure points, they're not that bad. The aftermarket has covered a lot of the big failure points of the N54 in 2023.

Don't forget about the PCV valve, that caused me some headache in the past. Are you planning on putting in flex-fuel? Would be cool to see an install on the Fuel-it kit with the bluetooth analyzer module and how it works with JB4.

Also the main crank seal that keeps belts out of ur engine if they shred is a good idea to make it more reliable

A good tip is to spray some adhesive to make sure the gasket stays on the valve cover.

Why the hell are those asswholes sending those evil disrespectful messages to you. I have a 2002 bmw 325i that I'm trying to get completely done before I drive it again. Then I want to tune it up like you doing. I like watching your vids. Keep them coming.
