Just released a Vehicle Virals shirt featuring the BMW from this video. I have less than 100 available! vehiclevirals.com/products/bmw-3-series-in-motion
Definitely Christian! I think this format makes a lot of sense. I haven't done any major upgrades other than brakes. I replaced pretty much everything underneath the car and even had to upgrade a few parts in the drivetrain that were upgraded by the manufacturer and made my parts obsolete to the point I needed to do a full axle replacement. I could have upgraded parts and done a tune but then my car would not have been able to perform properly or remain dependable. I stayed on a maintenance schedule with oil, spark plugs, and even my air and cabin air filters. My car is a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO. Treat your car well and take care of it and it will take care of you! Be well everyone, stay healthy and take care!
I just got a high mileage 335i E92 (162,000 miles) but it had over 7,000 in parts replaced 16 months ago from a reliable mechanic. New turbos, gaskets, plugs, coils, brakes, control arms, water pump, thermostat...and I know I am missing a bunch of other stuff. So far after 3 weeks all good!
Your channel is really valuable. I just closed a deal on a 335i E93 that I am picking up tomorrow. I had the whole weekend to let my nerves get to me worrying about reliability issues and repair costs, but you have kind of given me hope that I can manage the cost of ownership with smart maintenance. I'm planning it to be a weekend fun car, not a daily and I already fooled around modding a car when I was younger so I'm planning to keep it mostly stock, although I might not mind a mild tune and exhaust upgrade.
I just bought a 2012 E93 with 117K on it for cheap. The car fax looked good, and so I bought it, took it to a shop, and im having minor repairs done to it. Nothing critical or necessary, but I want to keep it in mint condition while i keep it stock. It's truly in great shape. I also molded a car when I was younger and it's out of my system. After 2 years, what's your experience been like? How many miles do you have on yours?
I fortunately have one hell of an extended warranty. I’ve had mine now for 3 yrs. I’m the second owner. Got it with 49000 miles on it. I do have the dealership service when it’s warranty work
Thanks to your videos I am now obsessed with the 335i, I am looking for a used one every single day. This video is also just what I needed to understand what I need to do with it as soon as I get it.... Big ups man
Once you make your purchase get the software or capable scanner. The only way you can avoid crazy repair costs is doing the work yourself. Lol even the indy shops charge at least a grand to do a water pump which I guarantee will fail on any e9X.
Don’t worry about mileage. A higher mileage car that’s had turbos and injectors replaced is a better buy than one on 80-90k on original parts. Your only preventative maintenance is then likely to be plugs, coils, charge pipe replace and a walnut blast. Then it’s time to tune 😀😀
Good advice thanks! I found a shop that pretty much only works on BMW and Mercedes, and they charged me half of what the dealer wanted to install new oil filter housing gasket and valve cover gaskets. And they gave me a 10% cash discount. $1200 altogether. Last thing my 2009 335I needs is a thermostat $300 installed. Gonna do that soon. Water pump and fuel injectors were replaced by original owner. Love my car.
That was one of the best informational videos you could ever do Christian! I've watched you slowly get your car in order by sticking to your own advice! I've had that dealership experience to, and when I paid $667 on an oil change, spark plugs, and a cabin air filter, I learned to fear the dealer right then. And there was nothing wrong with my car, I was doing it because I just had purchased it! Lol. Only 53k when I bought it 4years ago, and only 66k now. I'm changing out my stock rotors for vented ones. No tune yet, coil pacs, aluminum charge pipe, aluminum intake, and new down pipe will be down before I go into tuning! The one thing proper that a dealership rep told was to "Enjoy the power for a while", and that's just what I'm doing Bra!✊
Awesome show !! These are high maintenance cars. I have a 2010 535i. Love it, but it will cost you to keep the love. Replaced vanos solenoids for maintenance. Replaced front lower control arms. Resealed oil pan. Replaced diverter valves for maintenance. Replaced motor mounts. Walnut blasted intake. Changed plugs. Changed coils. Replaced rear differential seals. Replaced oil filter housing gasket. Replaced oil cooler housing gasket. Replaced Pcv valve Replaced valve cover gasket. Replaced injectors #12. Replaced high pressure fuel pump. Replaced Alternator. Replaced serpentine belt. Replaced belt tensioner. Not to mention your basics like oil changes, brakes, tires etc. This car will give you a love hate relationship !!. I have not changed the water pump and thermostat yet. I think I might for maintenance so I won't get stuck anywhere. Still have the original starter as well. Might do that also, water pump and thermostat for sure. You need to have a savings account just for this car.
Yup I have an 08 535i I have done everything you have done plus crankshaft positioning sensor, water pump, thermostat, front wheel bearings and I'll be doing the rear suspension soon. I got the sport package on my e60. Maintenance has cost a lot of $$ but this car has not let stranded. Love this car and pkan on keeping it till 300k miles cause its so clean and reliable.
Here in Lakeland, I took my 335i to Fields BMW last week and spent 3k to fix oil gasket leaks... Car still leaking oil after oil change and they killed my o2 sensors and tried to say that the codes for the dead o2 sensors were already there.. listen to this guy!
Best 335i video out. I got a 2011 e90 335i in September and recently got my check engine diagnosed (for free) and the wanted $4,000 for a water pump, thermostat, and high fuel pump. I was ready to replace all of these anyway, I got the car around the mileage so it was a matter of time. I hit FCP for my parts, had a good shop put them in and got a muffler delete for less then half. Great content bro, I feel exactly the same way about things you should never do.
I love your channel man, being a service rep for BMW myself you have a lot of great content on here. That being said, not all dealers are out to get you. I’m honest with every one of my customers. Some people just prefer to have the trained people do it. Cause 9 out of 10 times when people tell me “they know a guy” the car gets repaired incorrectly and they come back anyway lol.
Yo you killed it at the end of the video when you said ... "treat it like a BMW... not a Civic🤣😂🤣... i alwase say that and now i see im not the only one hahahaha🤭 watch people get but hurt just for that.... they just dont understand!
Look the civic is a shitty car that don't have any technological advances ,so have the technology of 80s( with a screen at the interior)that's haven't anything to brake..,also if you buy the new typeR(like my friend did)then you see that has all the problems that all the turbo cars have (and more for example 3 weeks after he buy it the windows doesn't work) so the only civics that don't have a lot problems is the old ones (90s),but the most of the cars back then was simplest ,for example I had the bmw e36 m3 and never at 17 years I had it break down
Xrist Ps4 I have the new type r and it’s perfect mate, your “friend” must’ve bought a pure dud. It’s far more reliable than any new BMW - which are built to break
@@CJax749 so you buy a new car by criterion to don't have some problems in 7-8 years?( it doesn't make sense)(the new typeR have problems that all the turbo cars have),I buy the best car that my money can buy and if something wrong happens I fix it, also if someone see clearly the bmw cars isn't unreliable, and my friend has it (typeR)and isn't perfect (it isn't something special)and for sure has a lot of problems like oil leaking...etc so you are just a fan boy, that maybe his father has a shitty 90s civic and you think that is a supercar,NO IDIOT HONDA CARS IS MEDIOCRE CARS THAT NEVER WILL BE AS GOOD AS ANY BMW OR MERCEDES, JUST LOOK THE INTERIOR IS SHITTY PLASTIC!!!
@@CJax749 I got a homie with a Type R and and he is keeping it stock to avoid problems... like any other turbo car if you take care of it no matter what brand than it will be safe... by the way when he said treat it like a BMW not a civic... thats a way of saying the 90s NA civics id guess or on the other side of the coin youngsters with civics and their backward hats are mostly beating up civic since day one and fits the "not a civic" saying
I was looking at 335i’s for a year or two and your videos finally got me to get one, i found a good deall on a high mileage one first thing I did was all my preventative maintenance love the car so far no complaints. And these cars are super unpredictable even with TC on! ive gone completely sideays through a corner with TC on. Love the content man keep it comin
Reed Wood 2008 i bought the car for 4000$ and spent 700$ on maintenance which included water pump and thermostat plugs coils valve cover gasket and oil filter housing gasket pretty easy jobs got it done in a day 👍🏻
Reed Wood I bought a 2011 last September for $9k with 100k miles on it. The body and interior are fairly pristine. The mechanical maintenance had been somewhat neglected, though. I did about $1500-2000 worth of tightening up the engine. That’s in the form of valve cover replace, new charge pipe (just cause), some MAF sensors and alternator belts and air filter kit. It’s quirky compared to other cars I’ve owned but like anything, proper maintenance goes a long way. ✌🏻
Bought an 07 with 20k miles on it last year and it’s one of the most exhilarating cars to drive. Previous owner installed a dinan tune. Had to install all new injectors but my good friend was service manager at our local bmw dealership so got a great deal. It’s just a car that needs to be respected. 500hp is a lot, especially for such a small vehicle. Great advice on this video
I think your first point can go for any used vehicle you buy. I seen guys buy a truck. Then bag it over the weekend. Then the truck break somehow. And complain the break sucks. Great video
Love the video, I love my E92 XI but I went the right route and bought my E92 and dumped $7700 into all maintenance and now I have a rod knock. Definitely will never knock the car, but not happy right now and the wife doesn't believe me on the fun and reliability they have. But I'm looking for a newer N54 and will swap over all the BS parts, hpfp, coils and turbos that I already replaced. This is my reality dream car. Black on Black. Wish I could post a picture
my brother owned a 335 for 2 years (e92 at that) and went into it with minimal knowledge when it came to working on cars. that thing taught him so much our family’s mechanic hired him to work at his shop and the owner calls my brother the “bmw guru” and calls him up whenever a customer has a problem w their bmw. moral of the story: if u buy a 335 you will surely learn a lot on how to work on cars and if u tune them just right, they can be performance BEASTS
I've owned my 2011 e90 335I for a year now. Have been doing the maintenance for it recently and now will be moving onto MHD Stage 1 and XHP. Did new spark plugs, tires, water pump, thermostat, coolant, and oil change every 6K-7K miles. Charge pipe is on the way too.
Well said. Had my 335i for 9 months and all I have really done is servicing and prep for the tune. I had always planned that the tune would come after 12 months of prep. Gaskets, walnut blast, coils, plugs, charge pipe, FMIC etc then tune.
I have a 2008 335i convertible just like yours. I've had it since 2013 and it now has 178,000 miles. I take care of my cars and have had few problems. I've had two water pumps but has been fine since my local shop installed it right. About 4 months ago I left the car in the garage for three days (not unusual). Was running good before. When I started it there was a serious misfire, only running on 3 cylinders. Local shop couldn't identify and private shop in Savannah couldn't either. The tech/owner in Savannah is German and a former BMW employee in the German factory. There is practically none better. Problem is that he believes that there is a module problem and the codes are not available to him. Now it's at Critz (I don't particularly trust them). I'm 74 and never treated it like a hot rod. Just hoping for the best. I can afford to repair it. Just don't want to pay for unnecessary repairs. Any advice?
Bro I just got a 2012 335is with only 27k miles !!! Today is 7/11/21 , 2 days before my bday. Got the DCT m sport on alpine white a Coral red interior. Traded my 2011 n55 m sport w 136k miles that I bought at 80k miles. Soooo glad I watched this video!! I beat tf out of the n55 it being my first bmw lol all the tips you gave were good glad I watched it
a buddy of mine got an e93 too, he has a misfire and was billed $2000-$3000 for new spark plugs and coil packs. this is precisely the reason why I am a DIYer.
I had a 2012 N55 335i coupe, now have a 2010 N54 335i e93 with only 54k miles, and the difference in performance is massive. I agree completely agree though, the maintenance must come first or you're just asking for trouble. I just finished changing and flushing the engine oil w/ Liqui Moly "MolyGen" 5w40, installing a brand new transmission oil pan w/ redline ATF fluid, servicing the rear diff w/ redline 75w/90, installing NGK 2 step colder plugs w/ Delphi coils, installing the dual cone air intake setup, putting brand new tires, and changing the brake pads, rotors and installed stainless steel lines along w/ flushing the fluid w/ Pentosin DOT4 LV fluid. Now I'm finally going to install the upgraded charge pipe, 7.5" VRSF intercooler, VRSF straight pipe muffler delete, Enkei wheels and MHD tune. Have to respect the machine or it will bite back hard.
My awd actuator motor broke on my 09 n54, the dealer was charging me $800 for the part and $600 for the labor 😭 I ended up buying the genuine bmw part from fcpeuro for $450 and took it into eurocharged Cincinnati and got I replaced for $200 ✅
The 335I is my first BMW and I honestly don't know shit about these cars lol. So I have the N54 335i Space gray 09 sedan with the M sport package/air suspension. I got it at 86k miles (now has 89k miles) and the suspension is great and overall runs pretty smooth. I've had it for about 7 months now. I took it in a few months back for a post purchase inspection and then I took it in for the maintenance two months after. Per the repair shop, it was normal wear and tear (belts, oil change, oil filter, tube spark plugs etc.), but the only pricey repair was the cracked valve cover. Apparently i had a bad low fuel pressure sensor, but turns out I just had a corroded cord. So With that being said, last month I did an MHD tune stage 1 with the PRO K/D CAN Cable. Its the only thing I've done for performance, I want to apply stage 2, but I am unaware of what needs to be installed on my car (or if not at all) before doing anything else. And most importantly I want to know the risks with tuning this specific car. My car is stock all around. Do i need to install an intake? exhaust? looking for direction on this. I think I've taken the safe route so far and want to continue it, but I want to build power at the same time. Definitely want to hear some nice sound in my car too. I heard of high PSI being a problem and flash tunes automatically erasing codes that may pop up after doing a flash tune. Is that true for MHD? kinda paranoid since I already did stage 1!!! D: - Hoping @Vehicle Virals can guide me or anyone else would be awesome!
First thing you need to do (this applies to stage 1) is get a metal charge pipe like the one I have listed in the description. The stock plastic charge pipe will blow with the higher boost. Get a blowoff valve as well for the charge pipe. For stage 2 all you need are after market downpipes and for stage 2+ you need downpipes and a Front mount intercooler. If you can afford it, throw in some dual cone air intakes for more air suction and for cool noises :) And lastly have fun! Stage 2+ is very fast.
I bought my 335i coupe based of what u shown over the last year. First thing I did was get it home and straight to php specialist in joplin for all maintenance fixes needed. But this video is great to get these n54 guys building a car and getting the basic maintenance stuff fixed first cause these r monsters for what they weigh and the amount of power they can handle.
"If you own a bmw don't treat like a civic" i like ur quote. Talking from experience its not recommended to do launch controls all the time over six months ago i had to do a tranmission reconditioning cost me $4,500.
Well said bro. You are so right about dealerships thats why I do all my maintenance. I have a 07 never had one single problem and I have 162134 miles love the car. Just regular maintenance like any other car.
I must be lucky, because I haven't had any of those problems he listed at the beginning. Been driving my car (N55 e92 335xi) for almost 6 years (4 years of that while tracking it in Germany) This dude is right though, maintenance is key, I took care of the car I abuse, and live by the code, "you get what you pay for", don't cheap out!
Awesome video! Just picked up a 200k mile 335d and have been focusing on the maintenance first. After having dozens of cars over the past two decades, your video rings so true on every point. Would love to see more of this from you!
Maybe you can make a video of you going out an looking at one thats for sale an give us a buyers guide on what to look an hear for when seeing the car in person from you’re point of view.
I bought my 07 335i with 140k(from orlando too btw🤙) and literally did all maintenance,a few hoses, radiator, water pump, injectors, the whole tune up and added jb4 (which I had fun and all sliding )got tires. But it's been super reliable. I haven't beaten it sense the jb4 which it's been a year..solid car.tbh
NEW BMW 335i HIGH MILEAGE OWNER! TURBOS REPLACED FROM PREVIOUS OWNER! NEW OIL CHANGE + FILTER, New cabin filter, new power steering fluid, and just changed the front pads! RUNS LIKE A DREAM NOW! Now im looking at tint and a simple exhuast and i should be good!
Im not gonna lie imma do what you did and save the water pump and the lil baby oil pan leak until i upgrade the turbos everything else isnt leaking but me being a trained mechanic i will be doing everything else in the driveway only thing i have left to do to be fbo is the upgraded boost pipe had yet to ship and im waiting for it to put my intercooler in everything else has been done catless dps dcis charge pipe and i have the tune ready but im going to flash mhd stage 1 and then go up from there to make sure everything is ok plugs are going in right before the tune and same with coils ive been keeping an eye on your videos and others as well and im glad i knew what to look for before i bought mine in January thank you so much for the insight in my build it has made my life so much easier with this whole build
Some good advice here. Second or third owners should always try and budget for catch up maintenance. Us first owners keep the cars in shape because we have free maintenance and in my case, additional coverage on top of that, but eventually things slack a bit and we eventually unload the car. I can't blame the kids picking these up and wanting to go fast!
I thought about getting a 335 a lot because I love BMWs and you can get a good amount of power out of them but for now I’m going to keep my 3.7 mustang it’s been pretty reliable I’ve only had to replace a water pump, radiator fan motor and strut mounts and over 150,000 miles and will probably be getting a V8 next and get a project BMW later on and maybe get E46 M3 which holds a special place in my heart
I own 335xi N54 automatic, before going any higher than Stage 1 I'd maintain the transmission, specifically I'd change rubber sleeves, solenoids, and of course oil and filter. I'm running MHD stage 2, I have done all maintenance needed to the engine and did mods like downpipes, charge pipe, BOV, etc. But I only changed oil and filter in my AT and regret it, now I'm planning to change everything mentioned ASAP and then flash it with xHP stage 3
chris can you make a video on fun reliable cars that aren’t that expensive? i really want a 335i but i’m really scared that i don’t have the money for the repairs. but i also don’t want a toyota corolla. it would be a dope video. keep up the great work
Lucky my 190k e90 335xi sedan had legit the whole suspension done oem b4 I bought it, and all new coils plugs and a ton of other stuff done oem. Yes the interior is filthy but car is mint otherwise like you can eat out of the engine bay it looks like it rolled off the show room floor. But I do not know when the last engine out service or any other gaskets replaced. All in all I'm happy so far with the car. I want to make sure engine is gone through before I do anything other than lower it , wheels and other esthetics.
i have spent atleast 6k on my 335i and i’ve had it for 4 months, i love maintaining but i disagree that performance before maintaince kills them, the only thing that have any direct affect from putting a tune on them is the plugs and coils, both of which are cheap af. walnut blast as well but should be done on stock car anyways
@@user-ie4kp7ni9d car is perfect i haven’t put any money into it since before covid :) slightly disagree with what i said tho you really should be doing both fuel pumps before tuning, and injectors, even though i didn’t but i have quite low mileage
True statement. I owned a 2009 335i. Spent 5k in 3 years on maintenance but also drove 68k in that time. Tires, water pump, brakes, more brakes, wheel bearing, caliper, and coils. Not bad but like you said. Maintenance before you blow money on mods.
Good content that I completely agree with your points having experienced most of the same items you mentioned as too. If only I could have seen this 5 years ago!!! I bought my 335xi with 48k miles. What did I do nearly immediately? JB4 and intake...it had maybe 50k miles at this point, what could go wrong? I had similar repairs that you noted; valve cleaning, water pump failure, no spare tire after replacing run-flats... I was really interested in your notes about the BMW dealership since the reason I got rid of mine was they told me I needed all new injectors and a gasket was leaking; $6,800 to fix when I had about 95k miles on it. Deciding to cut my loses, I sold it. Bought for 17, traded in for 11...I took a bath on it and have been driving my mazda 3 for the last 5 years trying to recover from that one; great/reliable car, not the same as a tuned 335 though... Great advice though, thanks!
yep man been there, I take my BMW to Bavarian motor sport and this guys are great, very honest and knowledgeable, price on parts and labor very affordable and never wrong. just exchange my 2011 328i for a 2013 335i M sport and having fun with it. stay safe getting car ready when quarantine be over to take it on the road :)
Fpceuro an Ecs are both great resources you can also order parts from dealerships online at decent discounts you have to google OEM bmw parts to find the (dealerships online pages) or fun fact if you go to your local dealerships parts department they are not actually firm on the prices they quote you..I have gotten them to match pricing with fcp and or reduced the quote by 30-40%. Might also be because I have purchased many many....many parts in my day but it never hurts to ask.
What did PSI do to your car when they had the engine out?? How has it been running since then?? Make more content like this. I'm watching & taking notes. Love your content!!!
Love your blog !!! Just bought my dream Car BMW i135 M convertible. Hope 2 learn a lot from you & others bmw owners !!! Didn't know that the car run kinda hot all the time like 220% temp is the norm 4 twin turbos is that true or should I be worrying about this temperature
Great video and great tips mate followed your channel for a long while, I can speak from experience with having a crash and the insurance writing the car off because of damages on my old 335, great channel keep up the content!!!.
Bought my 335i with 125k miles right before corona hit.....went FBO's because previous owner replaced all the gaskets....had wastegate rattle and ended up blowing the turbos. Now we're here, finishing the single turbo kit with PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE.
With work I didn’t have time to fix a broken boost system. Took it to a mechanic, quoted me $2000. I said ok, but felt weird about it and went to collect the car and do it myself. Ordered a TMAP sensor because it was throwing a TMAP sensor failure code. $40 later the car was fixed because the sensor pin 4 was broken. Learn to fix it yourself. You’ll save so MUCH money
Only Mods I've done to my 2010 BMW Z4 with the N54 are the Mods that make is slightly more reliable. Basically the aluminum charge pipe lol and I did get a dual cone air filter setup based on the fact they don't require a tune and sound bad ass. Other than that is cosmetic mods and maintenance that I'm focused on.
Bought an e90 335i about a month ago just a few days before the quarantine began. Test drove, didn’t seem bad. Has 86k miles. The upper coolant hose blew ON THE WAY HOME. Makes you ask yourself, “what did I get myself into?”
I go a low mileage N54 335xi. Here's what I think: yeah, it's definitely not worth it to add performance mods over maintenance but then again it's hard to know what maintenance you really need. In the first 6 months both the upper and lower radiator hoses burst. No big deal, I was close to home. But then the "I'm not driving farther than my AAA coverage" mentality set in. I've consulted my local BMW mechanic and every time he wants to take off the mods that the prior guy had put on. Another indie shop near me acts like I should schedule around when he feels like rolling in to work, and so even though he comes with a glowing recommendation, I haven't even been able to get him to give it a look and write up what maintenance he would recommend. I am at the point where I think an engine-out full refresh is the way to go... how much is reasonable to pay for that? And if there's anybody around Cleveland... what shop would you trust to do that and not rip you off?!
Great video, Great advice. Former e36 m3 owner. Jonesing for a project e30, 36, 92. So good, you have confirmed my apprehension. Now I thinking budget. Can you give me some advice I have a brand new lariat Ford 350. But my girl will appreciate a e92 m3 way more than a E36
If I had one of these, I'd start with precautionary mods, like Silicone coolant hoses, Aluminum Radiator, Transmission Cooler, Oil Cooler, Aluminum Charge Pipe, etc. As a guy that loves cars, if I get Performance mods, I'd try to get Reliability mods to counteract.
Or just buy a n52 and you don’t have to worry about crazy maintenance lol. EDIT** i understand it’s not fast. Still has the planted/nice steering feel and going fast is for the motorcycle:)
Good advice. THESE ARE ALL BASIC AND COMMON SENSE, and only "kids" usually do all these " performance/ looks" mods. So kids listen up, and learn from this guy coz he will bring you back to reality lol
Who got a 135i N54 with 115k miles as a first car not knowing what they got into ? ✋🏻 And I love it 😂 Did a walnut blasting . Car needs new ignitions coils , injectors , control arms and brakes
Yaaaa a change things that don't need to be changed... Nice advice. While they are at it they can just buy a new car. Firsts thing that a tune will do is show you your cars weak points so you don't have to change things you don't have to.
Besides the JB tune. What's a good zorst system that will bring out the 3.0 ltr tone? Nothing crazy or loud but more crisp. And how often do you service your car? Appreciate it.
Just released a Vehicle Virals shirt featuring the BMW from this video. I have less than 100 available! vehiclevirals.com/products/bmw-3-series-in-motion
Is getting parts for a 2008 bmw 328i from autozone a good spot
More videos in this type of format? Yay or nay?
Definitely yes my friend
Yes...please can you make a video on how to buy your first car and etc.
I fortunately have one hell of an extended warranty. I’ve had mine now for 3 yrs. I’m the second owner. Got it with 49000 miles on it. I do have the dealership service when it’s warranty work
You sure do have a sweet deal there. But I bet those wheels cost you some good bacon!
Which extended warranty company?
Thanks to your videos I am now obsessed with the 335i, I am looking for a used one every single day.
This video is also just what I needed to understand what I need to do with it as soon as I get it....
Big ups man
Awesome!
Why bother, save the headaches
👊🏼
I’ve got an e90 and I’ve had the same issue with the spark plugs/coil packs. Watched a video on you tube and did it myself 👍🏼
Replaced Pcv valve
Replaced valve cover gasket.
Why would you take ur car to a dealer?
Can you make a used 335i buyers guide which includes the real time scenario and what we really need to focus while buying?
He is the type of guy who plays ps and likes all NFS series and finally he got he's favorite car and definetely living his best life. GOOD LUCK BRO!
Erwin Mullins I did my thermostat for 40 bucks and a Saturday afternoon
how many miles were on the car?
Esdras Diaz 110 when I changed everything
Treat it like a Lambo not a hooptie 😂
Look the civic is a shitty car that don't have any technological advances ,so have the technology of 80s( with a screen at the interior)that's haven't anything to brake..,also if you buy the new typeR(like my friend did)then you see that has all the problems that all the turbo cars have (and more for example 3 weeks after he buy it the windows doesn't work) so the only civics that don't have a lot problems is the old ones (90s),but the most of the cars back then was simplest ,for example I had the bmw e36 m3 and never at 17 years I had it break down
Xrist Ps4
I have the new type r and it’s perfect mate, your “friend” must’ve bought a pure dud.
Yo which year did you get and how much were the initial maintenance costs?
This car is LEGEND! Always dreamed of getting a 335i, I have a 330i right now but def want the m340i in a couple years!!
I think the legend is the E46 M3
@@chrisanderson2204 Love the m3's as well. Just love the different types of mods that the 335i offers! Reminds me of a next era supra
Treat it like A BMW not a civic wise words !
Nothing wrong with Honda civic
@@Granto-ni9qw ricer
He’s treating like a ricer though.
I rather the civic less headache
@@F22-g4y whenever someone comments "ricer" on a video you know that they probably don't even own a car.
my brother owned a 335 for 2 years (e92 at that) and went into it with minimal knowledge when it came to working on cars. that thing taught him so much our family’s mechanic hired him to work at his shop and the owner calls my brother the “bmw guru” and calls him up whenever a customer has a problem w their bmw.
moral of the story: if u buy a 335 you will surely learn a lot on how to work on cars and if u tune them just right, they can be performance BEASTS
Big facts bro! I just did my plugs, bushings, control arms, coolant lines, starter, now doing gaskets leaks are ridiculous!
Got my 335i convertible last week! Your videos are such a great source. Thank You!
Congrats!
My awd actuator motor broke on my 09 n54, the dealer was charging me $800 for the part and $600 for the labor 😭 I ended up buying the genuine bmw part from fcpeuro for $450 and took it into eurocharged Cincinnati and got I replaced for $200 ✅
That a boy!
Hey I live by you! You recommend that place I’m a little north of Cincinnati
Im 20 and i just got a bmw 335i e93 2008 😍🔥 with 53k miles im glad im watching this before anything goes wrong 😭😂
If you can afford it, throw in some dual cone air intakes for more air suction and for cool noises :)
And lastly have fun! Stage 2+ is very fast.
Great video! it helped me a lot on what to do first when I bought my E92 335xi.
Glad I saw this because I’m young and looking into getting a E92 335
I bought my 335i coupe based of what u shown over the last year. First thing I did was get it home and straight to php specialist in joplin for all maintenance fixes needed. But this video is great to get these n54 guys building a car and getting the basic maintenance stuff fixed first cause these r monsters for what they weigh and the amount of power they can handle.
"If you own a bmw don't treat like a civic" i like ur quote. Talking from experience its not recommended to do launch controls all the time over six months ago i had to do a tranmission reconditioning cost me $4,500.
Great advice all around. Had my 335i sedan 2 years, did maintenance first now thinking about performance.
Well said bro. You are so right about dealerships thats why I do all my maintenance. I have a 07 never had one single problem and I have 162134 miles love the car. Just regular maintenance like any other car.
Before you buy your car you get it pre-checked so you know what additional costs are going to come up in the close future. Nice clip!
I must be lucky, because I haven't had any of those problems he listed at the beginning. Been driving my car (N55 e92 335xi) for almost 6 years (4 years of that while tracking it in Germany)
This dude is right though, maintenance is key, I took care of the car I abuse, and live by the code, "you get what you pay for", don't cheap out!
thanks for sharing your bmw dealer experience, bought a 335i cause of you last month. buying a MHD flasher tonight
Great to hear!
Great content. Def helps guys who want to get into a 2nd hand BMW but scared of the associated out of maintenance plan costs.
I haven't beaten it sense the jb4 which it's been a year..solid car.tbh
just bought a 09 with 146k. this makes me feel better
Taking your advice and focusing on maintenance rather mods and modifications still running stock just done pe mod only rest all stock great video
How you like the sound with the pe mod? I'm assuming you still have your secondary cats on?
Some good advice here. Second or third owners should always try and budget for catch up maintenance. Us first owners keep the cars in shape because we have free maintenance and in my case, additional coverage on top of that, but eventually things slack a bit and we eventually unload the car. I can't blame the kids picking these up and wanting to go fast!
Definitely went through a lot An mostly all of us have but hey we learn our lesson🤷🏽♂️ great video man! Always love seeing ur content🔥
with time, I really really started liking you. Even that m4 review, I really trust your opinion. Please never stop your videos.
as a long time owner of one, I agree. I barely drive mine, and yet I still have a $1k per year budget to keep it up. and mine is still a low mileage!
Got a 2013 335i Bcs of this channel at 98k miles had it for 5 months no problems💆🏽♂️
Am getting a 2006 325 from my friend, definitely going to do maintenance on it before I even think about any mod maybe no mods just a fun work car
Long time driver when bmw shakes it’s always them spark plugs I had the legendary 325 and 540i now I’m in a x5
But I only changed oil and filter in my AT and regret it, now I'm planning to change everything mentioned ASAP and then flash it with xHP stage 3
chris can you make a video on fun reliable cars that aren’t that expensive? i really want a 335i but i’m really scared that i don’t have the money for the repairs. but i also don’t want a toyota corolla. it would be a dope video. keep up the great work
attilio busseti get a 328i
Lucky my 190k e90 335xi sedan had legit the whole suspension done oem b4 I bought it, and all new coils plugs and a ton of other stuff done oem.
Brandon Williams yeah. 6k canadian $ so a bit less. all preventative maintenance off the bat and now its perfect for time to come. they ain’t cheap
The facial hair looks pretty cool bro, I think you should rock it
Ayee! 🧔🏽
What does a engine out maintenance cost? Changing WP, gaskets, tune up like what you did.
carlos jackson probably close to 2 grand
Probably add $500 for the turbo install since the motor was already out
@@NewDesignVinylGraphics I can handle that.
my dad has a 435i but I love the e92 more I'm considering buying the 335i and your videos are really helpful
Just bought a 2011 335i xdrive with Dinan stage 2 upgrade. 67000 miles. I pick it up tomorrow.
yep man been there, I take my BMW to Bavarian motor sport and this guys are great, very honest and knowledgeable, price on parts and labor very affordable and never wrong. just exchange my 2011 328i for a 2013 335i M sport and having fun with it. stay safe getting car ready when quarantine be over to take it on the road :)
Thank you for the great vids. I have a 2008 335i Hard Top. ( Sitting the garage until I can get to a tune up)
What did PSI do to your car when they had the engine out??
It's a common weak point it. I call it the McDonald's straw. I ended up reinforcing it with a metal line.
Real shit, you should put a refresh kit on your website (i.e gaskets, plugs etc.)
Great video. Trying to get a 335i here soon
I just picked up a 2008 335i convertible with 74,000 miles on it. I love this car
I just got a 2008 335i E93 with 57k miles. It is in PERFECT shape. Blacked out with tan interior. I paid $12k. Mind if I ask what you got yours for?
If I had one of these, I'd start with precautionary mods, like Silicone coolant hoses, Aluminum Radiator, Transmission Cooler, Oil Cooler, Aluminum Charge Pipe, etc.
As a guy that loves cars, if I get Performance mods, I'd try to get Reliability mods to counteract.
Or just buy a n52 and you don’t have to worry about crazy maintenance lol. EDIT** i understand it’s not fast. Still has the planted/nice steering feel and going fast is for the motorcycle:)

Excellent common sense video. Thank you
Good advice.
✋🏻 And I love it 😂
Did a walnut blasting . Car needs new ignitions coils , injectors , control arms and brakes
This man Speaking the truth.
Great video man preventative maintenance is key. Gotta pay to play
Your the reason I have a e93 now . Thanks a lot 😂 fake miss the e92 tho
What about Reliability Mods? Like a Oil Cooler, Transmission Cooler, Aluminum Radiator, etc. Would under 120K miles be good when buying one?
Yaaaa a change things that don't need to be changed... Nice advice. While they are at it they can just buy a new car.
Firsts thing that a tune will do is show you your cars weak points so you don't have to change things you don't have to.
"While you're on a forum talking Bout how crappy this car is" lmfao. Killing me Dogg
Besides the JB tune. What's a good zorst system that will bring out the 3.0 ltr tone? Nothing crazy or loud but more crisp. And how often do you service your car? Appreciate it.
Should have watched this video earlier. This is crazy good content
