His alien face was truly horrific ! Who needs cgi when you have Phil ! I remember our national impersonator Mike Yarwood being greatly overshadowed by Phil, who took impersonations and inventiveness to a whole new level. In fact his 80’s material is still fresh and brilliant today.
Phil cool you are a great comedian and a great performer and when you do your mimicking with your face you scare me because the face expretions are just so great phil and I hope that you enjoy your retirement and phill you are a great man and all the very best to you and your family
Awesome! Phil Cool....his impressions were always spot on...He did the best Rolf Harris...oh dear...the kiddie fiddler. But at least Phil Cool was genuine! The man is a legend.
One of the finest British talents of the last few decades. It annoys me how he is never even mentioned on any those shows about the history of comedy or impressionism. It's always Bremner, McGowan, and Culshaw. Sure, they had skills, but Phil could run rings around them in terms of overall talent. He was the true successor to Mike Yarwood.
WELL, LETS BE FRANK. HE COMPLETELY OVERSHADOWS EVERYONE. HE USED NO AIDS OR MAKE-UP, HIS FACE COULD BE COMPLETELY DISTORTED INTO HIS SUBJECTS, AND BACK TO NORMAL IN SECONDS. HEALTH ISSUES CAUSED AN EARLY RETIREMENT.
because he isnt funny in the slightest thats why ..might be a decent impressionist but as for stand up comedy cant see this being funny myself i think ppl like billy connolly or ken dodd would have something to say about it
Saw Phil Cool at Preston Polytechnic - (Poulton-Le-Fyide Campus) Students Union in 1982. He wasn’t famous then but you could tell he was going to be a star.
Phil "Cool" one of Britain's best. Just goes to show that in years gone by, you could be really funny without resorting to the kind of language used by the "so called" comedians of today. Thanks Phil, and all your contemporaries for that observational humour which is so lacking in the world of tv entertainment today. I read somewhere, Phil has had a quadruple heart bypass, hope you're feeling better soon Phil.
Very much of his time, his best impressions by far were Jimmy Saville and Rolf Harris, like most impressionist and comics of the 70s, and 80s if you could do Saville and Rolf Harris good you were on to a good thing, everyone knew who they were they were always on and were very popular. Of course today everyone says how they never liked them etc etc, which is just a collective guilt, because they are embarrassed by it.
I had forgotten how good this guy was, he probably wasn't 'Cool' when I was a smartass teenager so my vague memory of him was mildly negative but after I checking this out I have to say he was a brilliant talent.
Phil Cool is a unique talent, there has been nobody quite like him. Some of the stuff was genius and no one else since has been able to do. I think had he been on the otherside of the pond he could have been a world superstar in the right company. Stay well Mr Cool. To say he was a Jasper Carrott clone is crass and ludicrous ! Did you ever see him live or just snippets on TV ?
It is such a shame that a lot of talent such as Phil Cool is brought to the attention of viewers via TV only to slide into oblivion, Known as the man with the rubber face he was the best impersonator around at the time, I could never take to Rory Bremner, But Phil Cool was the best.
Well observed in this case it's nothing to do with objectivity Phil Cool, like him or not, is insanely talented and that there can be no argument. I lived near him for a short time and always hoped to bump into him in the Sun Inn pub drinking his mild but I never got to meet my hero.
Phil Cool is a comedy legend who broke new ground and was totally original in his approach. He also had the balls to leave show business before it owned him (illuminati).
He did disappear rather suddenly and I hope, as you suggest, it was his own doing. I enjoyed watching him. He was totally original and has never been replaced. Not everybody's cup of tea, but that's entertainment.
He’d had a series of heart attacks and as he was getting into his 60s he was tiring of travelling to distant venues to Smaller and smaller crowds I think he wanted to be with his family
I’d forgotten him so it was a real pleasure to see this performance. Another great comedian unlike those of today who can’t tell jokes without foul language and multi sex innuendos.
This guy IS funny - also very clever, very talented and great fun! (The one negative dude is probably just a young kid - you know what they're like...)
He must have been using sound effects at 3:30 ish? If not then kudos to him. I used to love the Phil Cool show. Something just reminded me of him earlier and I just looked him up. I did wonder why he seemed to disappear from TV so quick yrs ago.
Where is he now what's happened to to him ? He was UTTER BRILLIANT!!! 👍👍👍👍👍😉. I am probably just one of the many people that doesn't know what has happened to this UTTER ENTERTAINING GENIUS!!! He was there on TV quite regularly then just suddenly disappeared. Where did he go & what has happened to him since. ? I am very to quite sure someone knows what has happened to him over the past X amount of years. I don't that's why I ask. I didn't keep up to date & regular tracking of him. As in thought it wasn't important vat the time. As many of us would have been in the same position. So, let's see who has the information from the last time he was shown his AWESOME TALENT on TV till now. ( If he is still alive that is). 😳🙄🤔
I think Lee Evans must have been influenced by Phil Cool's rubber faced act & funny stances & movements... Or is it a coincidence. Lee Evans has alot of his own which is original & is more a stand up comic that an impressionist so I am not taking away from Evans, who is brilliant, but I think Evans owes a lot to Phil Cool, & possibly Phil dissapeared from the scene when Lee Evans made his breakthrough, possibly because he was younger and similar ? Who knows what happened !
Whatever happened to this guy, never see him now and one of the funniest impressionists and comedian ever to grace a stage, all we get now are wokie muppets as about as funny as the clap
What passes for comedy today is using a lot of foul language,. that's all we have today. I can't think of many now who will be held in high regard as Phil was, or even be remembered in years to come. They are simply just not funny.
This is like looking back at 'Cannon and Ball', or 'Little and Large'. Something which you used to think was funny, but now, years later looks utterly atrocious. I used to have 2 or 3 of this guys videos, it's a blessing i lost them.
How can Phil Cool be a rip off of jasper Carrott?? The two acts are totally different. Jasper Carrott sings witty songs and makes witty observations of life, and Phil Cool is an impressionist.
he has to be my fave 80's impressionist of all time long live phil cool
Dave david jacklin best keep him in the 80’s
Absolutely brilliant. Saw him live, way way back and his talent has never been beaten.
His alien face was truly horrific ! Who needs cgi when you have Phil !
I remember our national impersonator Mike Yarwood being greatly overshadowed by Phil, who took impersonations and inventiveness to a whole new level. In fact his 80’s material is still fresh and brilliant today.
Oh man, Phil Cool was excellent. I saw him perform in 1994 and it was just great. Real pro. Pity that he isn't on the tv now.
I had forgotten how brilliant a performer he was , thanks for showing this clip
Phil cool you are a great comedian and a great performer and when you do your mimicking with your face you scare me because the face expretions are just so great phil and I hope that you enjoy your retirement and phill you are a great man and all the very best to you and your family
Awesome! Phil Cool....his impressions were always spot on...He did the best Rolf Harris...oh dear...the kiddie fiddler. But at least Phil Cool was genuine! The man is a legend.
wth just discovered this guy, im french. How come he s not the most famous if them all ? fuking genius he is
I've followed this grate man from over 30 years ago.i last saw him at the Ashcroft therter in croydon 8 years ago.what a grate man.

I never thought of him as an impressionist just more of a very talented and professional comedian.
Lee Bee couldn’t agree more he was brilliant
because he isnt funny in the slightest thats why ..might be a decent impressionist but as for stand up comedy cant see this being funny myself i think ppl like billy connolly or ken dodd would have something to say about it
Agree totally, outstanding impersonator, incredible vocal sbs physical control, pretty much in a league of his own
Saw Phil Cool at Preston Polytechnic - (Poulton-Le-Fyide Campus) Students Union in 1982. He wasn’t famous then but you could tell he was going to be a star.
He was brilliant. Miss him not being on the telly anymore.

a quadruple heart bypass, hope you're feeling better soon Phil.
Yeah he lost his brother Raymond to heart disease a few years back
The heart they put in was actually a leg of lamb.
It was just doing a very convincing impression of a heart.
Always such a talent, able to make a cast of thousands, without the need of CGI, dubbing or any prosthetics! Able to 'do' the voices flawlessly also.
His alien impression was truly terrifying 😱🤣👍
My friend told me the best mimic and I have to agree.
Phil Cool’s impersonation of a VW Beetle was quite possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen 🤣🤣
Saw him live just before he retired: genius
I saw him with Jasper Carrott in Dublin in 2005. Great night.
One of the best. Always had me in stitches.
Absolutely Brilliant Phil Cool...So Underated..
Lee Evans is a Norman Wisdom Clone. Phil Cool was unique.
I loved his Rolf Harris impersonation, it cracks me up every time.
Lee Evans stole Norman Wisdoms Act ..

A much under rated , lucky to see him in Ipswich co, starring with Jasper Carrot..... brilliant
yes, Jasper and phil, best there are
Pure brilliance
It is such a shame that a lot of talent such as Phil Cool is brought to the attention of viewers via TV only to slide into oblivion, Known as the man with the rubber face he was the best impersonator around at the time, I could never take to Rory Bremner, But Phil Cool was the best.
Joseph Parkes
Kids found him funny. Watching him now, he isn't.
TALENT?
WHAT TALENT?
Well observed in this case it's nothing to do with objectivity Phil Cool, like him or not, is insanely talented and that there can be no argument. I lived near him for a short time and always hoped to bump into him in the Sun Inn pub drinking his mild but I never got to meet my hero.
Phil Cool was superb
Mr Rubber face. Phils E.T is the best . Hope your happy in your retirement, talented Genius....
He was talking about them shapeshifting reptilian lizard people
Phil Cool is a comedy legend who broke new ground and was totally original in his approach. He also had the balls to leave show business before it owned him (illuminati).
He left because it nearly killed him twice once in a car crash and the second to a heart attack
He did disappear rather suddenly and I hope, as you suggest, it was his own doing. I enjoyed watching him. He was totally original and has never been replaced. Not everybody's cup of tea, but that's entertainment.

He is so good you can believe it.
Brilliant
Come back Phil, British tv needs you, there are very few comedy shows on tv today.
Just hours of mindless reality rubbish.
Hes 72 and had a quadruple heart bypass few years back hes happy writing books for kids these days
@@mrcrazyjonpresents4312 Wishing Phil a speedy
recovery.
@@garydunn3037 He's ok lives a very relaxed style of life these days
@@mrcrazyjonpresents4312 I am really glad to
hear that Phil is doing OK. We have
no real talent on tv these days. Cheers.
I search for JR /Harry lagman impersonation and all i get is Super Klyngon Clinton! Damn it!!
...and in front of royalty no less. :)
I'd love to know which royals were in attendance and how they reacted to this.
YEAH. IT MUST HAVE BEEN SCARY, SEEING THEMSELVES BEING EXPOSED LIKE THAT
The UK's Jim Carrey a genius . Unsung criminally . Should have been huge
I'm trying to find his JR Ewing. Anyone seen that on YT?
Genius.
I miss Phil Cool
this guy is great lmss
He must have been using sound effects at 3:30 ish? If not then kudos to him. I used to love the Phil Cool show. Something just reminded me of him earlier and I just looked him up. I did wonder why he seemed to disappear from TV so quick yrs ago.
The brilliant Phil cool bolton legend
He’s from Chorley
OK chorley wigan Blackburn rochdale oldham take your pick hes still good 😮😮😮
I always thought that Lee Evans was more influenced by Norman Wisdom, but I can see what you're saying.
I forgot how good he was.
Legend
Hes my grandma's cousin i think i met his son once at a family party when i was younger
Where is he now what's happened to to him ? He was UTTER BRILLIANT!!! 👍👍👍👍👍😉. I am probably just one of the many people that doesn't know what has happened to this UTTER ENTERTAINING GENIUS!!! Strangely accurate about Bill Klinton !
Never a truer word spoken. O
Phil of the coolness
Great.
@linclinc5 hes still around does still tour only small ones since the heart attack not long back

I did not realise he was a court jester for the royals very sad.
I'm of the notion that he blackballed himself by the targets of his humour
Top guy very funny.
Whatever happened to this guy, never see him now and one of the funniest impressionists and comedian ever to grace a stage, all we get now are wokie muppets as about as funny as the clap
Underrated genius Unique unsung could have been britains Jim Carrey
Phil is Brill.!
Have watched him live the funniest impersonator i have seen. These personalities today aint funny in the slightest mind you humour today aint humour
What passes for comedy today is using a lot of foul language,. that's all we have

I agree very dated
That was really good and weird..
How is it possible for him to change his face to match the people he's impersonating? That's wild. Look how he changes to Bill Clinton.
At 2:34 RoboCop On Life Support 😃👍.
Kodos and kang do not approve
@stefftweffty. I had exactly the same conversation with my old man yesterday.
What ever happened to Phil Cool??!!
Is this your sanderling?
The alien was clever, but his impressions weren't that good
Maybe I should have read what Sladedestiny wrote 4 months ago. Whoops!
where'd he go?
hey hey I'm phill cool >:(
:-)
@sickpuppy4711 Each to their own, is what i say.
Idolise, worship him.
The Cool-est
Phil was not wrong about bill. Was he !!!!
He's a bit too clever for R Variety audiences
Too woke, one the best ever, like next level
How can Phil Cool be a rip off of jasper Carrott?? The two acts are totally different. Jasper Carrott sings witty songs and makes witty observations of life, and Phil Cool is an impressionist.
REAGAN!!!
XD
English Jim Carrey only better but not as hyped.
indianaP wnz only not talented
sounds painful :)
He was far too clever for that audience
Brave lad, but the impressions were way off.
Back when people were stupid
This guy was appallingly bad.......Bernard Manning was KING.
MrHappyBollox No it just means you are the dumbest shit head for answering.
I'm northern and I thought Manning was a prick.
Too slow to be funny, about as cool as Worzel Gummage
YOU WANT QUICK BUT INFERIOR EH? HOW OLD ARE YOU 12 ?
Someone needs a Cuppa tea and a nice slice of cake
I always thought he was a bit of a one trick pony and after a minute watching aint changed my mind much
rubber faced irritant
phil cool was a jasper carrot rip off
