I loved him and I thought he was so underrated. Such a lovely man, so funny and those tributes said it all. First time I saw him he was doing his roll the car window routine. Wonderful stuff. He was a one off. Unique. Bless him.
He truly was a most wonderful man. We met him in a café in Blackpool and he sat on his own at a table and kept doing his dog jumping up routine. We were the only ones in the café. We met him some years later at a formal event and were invited to sit at his table. A memorable evening with a memorable man. Rest with the angels Norman.
I had the pleasure of meeting Norman in about 1994. I am an electrician and was checking the sound system at a club in Halifax. I was on the stage all alone in this club when he walked in, suitcase in hand. I couldnt resist and went to the mic and did his broken mic routine (nothing as good as his though) He immediately threw his jacket halfway down his back and did his chicken walk. A private show just for me hehehe RIP Norman.
iconic british comedian, loved by millions of people who watched him on telly or on stage, and now we have lost Bobby Ball and Tom o Connor as well, sad times.
A great comedian who I had the pleasure watching several times at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool. So sad to see several of his colleagues have since passed away. Great British icons.
I met him at Beverley mens swimming club when I was a kid. (His son was married to a member of the club). He was as funny & very friendly. Will always remember those Wednesday evenings.
Many years norman parked outside a famous Hull store called hammonds and entertained the crowd and me for ages he was a natural nice lad very down to earth.
I've a tear in my eye as I'm watching this as it's only a few days ago that Bobby Ball passed away. Tommy Cannon and Syd Little are the only two British comedian straight men of duos who had their own shows in the seventies and eighties who are still with us as far as I know. All of them could run rings around most of the modern comedians (Tim Vine and Milton Jones excepted) who rely on swearing and dirty jokes to be funny.
RIP. Tremendous on Tiswas. They had real stars wanting to be on and they'd ruin the occasion by having Norman announce them. So funny for even the star. Like a Northern PR. Some know him as the lead singer of Genesis---Hello---is this bloody working. we --you----Coll. All in on it apart from the star and the genuine laughter from presenters and crew. Chris Tarrant, Lenny Henry et al.
If you're on a Zoom call in work and the sound starts breaking up if you say "You've gone all Norman Collier on me." you can tell the age of the people on the call by those that know who he was.
seeing all these comedians at the funeral reminds me of the funeral graveside joke : "How old are you now?" "I'm 93." "It's hardly worth you going home."
First time I saw the "chicken" was years ago, on stage he just had a chair he pulled his jacket off his shoulders and started brooding and pecking around the stage then ended up stepping onto the chair let out a loud crow and then dropped a large egg from under his jacket, I laughed to tears. Today there is a whole raft of people on stage and TV calling themselves comedians I wouldn't pay them with washers.
Most comedians steal their act from previous generations of entertainers.Les Dawsons rip off of Norman Evans act is a classic example.Norman Colliers act was orginal.Used to come to Pontins Holiday Camp in Jersey in 1970.A great comedian from a lost generation.
Every comic who dies you hear the same thing from the same old has beens. funniest man in the world, genius legend etc. I'm waiting for Sid Little ' Funniest straightman in the world' comic legend, etc etc. Cannon and ball ' double suicide' funniest comic duo of all time'. Eddie large ' Comic genius, legend, funniest man you could ever meet'.
Couldn't agree with you more. Fucking hell, i thought Cannon and Ball were dead, and when i saw them on ITV last week I realised I was right. Like you said, same old hasbeens, the comic's comic, comedy genius. Hope Bernie Clifton is found with his ostrich firmly up his arse. And soon.
Behave yourself Mr comedy snob. Bear in mind they blazed a trail in a time where tv was sterile and couldn't rely on shock swearing for jokes and they weren't political but ask the cool comics where try learned their trade and it'll clearly surprise you to hear it was from these guys. Sure they had rasicm when that was cool but the time travelling pc brigade may go back I time and arrest them... but be respectful dude... no one has ever heard of you so he was a better man than you'll aspire to eh?

The car window is 100 % inspiration, just the funniest thing you'll ever see.. 😊
They don't make comedians like this anymore. Pure comedy gold.
So sad we have now lost Tom O'Conner and Bobby Ball since this.
I met Norman whilst working on a Butlins tour in the 70's with a group called The Beaux Belles!! Lovely man!! God bless him!! xxx

So many of those praising Norman have, themselves, passed on. Great loss to the entertainment world.
My first thought too. Specially Bobby Ball, one of my fellow Oldhamers, saw cannon and ball when I was a kid and got briefly included in their act.
One of the funniest comedians that had me in stitches over the years. R.I.P pal.
Loved NORMAN COLLIER he was great saw him so many times live and t.v keep them laughing in HEAVEN rest in peace.x

Well respected and loved by all his fellow performers. I'd have loved to have gone down the pub with this lot after the funeral.
Grew up watching Norman Collier, Rest in Peace x
Performed with Norman at the Beacomber Cleethorpes in the late 80s. He rolled up in a hired Transit Van - AND did the gig for FREE!!
Norman really was one of a kind. Such a lovely man too, rip old chum x
Not many comedians made me proper belly laugh.
Norman Collier did .
RIP legend. Funny man.❤️
Norman was a true comedy legend and a lovely man.

I remember all these guys on telly, they were all in their prime, it's really scary seeing them now, they are all old men, it's a real eye opener
Yeah but their voices still sound like it was Yesterday.
I'd forgotten how good he was. Good luck old lad..
Proper comedians , all of them
Haha - his bingo calling with a faulty microphone still makes me roll around laughing 🤣🤣👍
Lovely. Just lovely.
Great man....
Im a bit down so Ive been going round looking for Collier Gold.....Im no longer down.... RIP, Sir, Ill see you in about 30 years
Looking at this and I think of how many of these shown here have also gone from us since this!

For God’s sake somebody gag that female reporter - they just want to get into Norman’s funeral.
