Jim Carrey is second best to this rubber faced master. My favourite memories are his lengthening arms routine, his car impressions and obviously the Aquamen impression. He made made me laugh openly so many times, and being a local lancastrian made he me more proud. Love Phil Cool, Thank you for the laughs.

A little update. He still does occasional local shows, especially a place called Barnoldswick and his son is a great solo artist in his own right like Phil very underrated.
Is more his songs than impressions he performs now.

Phil Cool is without a shadow of a doubt, one of the greatest comedians/ impressionists/ entertainer this country has ever produced. It's such a shame these TV programmes never or rarely mention him in the list of great comedians of TV and/or of stage.
Even for such a small crowd here, he still gives it his all. I saw Ted Robbins in Chorley FC over a year ago. He was hilarious too, talking about his childhood. Where he performed was very similar to Phil here. A cozy setting and a barrel of 😃 laughs. Whoever filmed this video, thank you for preserving a great memory of a great comedian and performer. It would be great to see him back on stage. Unfortunately, the tributes and appreciation for an artist come after a passing in this digital, anti social media world. If there is one petition that should be started is for one more performance from Phil, whether on a big stage or local social club. Thank you Phil for the laughs. You'll always be 😎 Cool

Unfortunately his dragged out overly long but short on material later tv stuff did that..
Doing an impression of a singer is funny but an entire 5 minute song, twice in a 28 minute runtime impressionist show was to much and felt as though impressions, comedy was taking a back seat to quick fire impressions and funny stories..
We all know that during the musical interlude was when people got up and made a drink or went to the bathroom..
321 ted Rogers, now its our musical guest, " everyone does something else, two Ronnie's, put your hands together for miss Elaine page, time to take the bins out or finish the crossword.
Ratings drop, show gets cancelled as the public tire of someone, that's how it is.
You can't compare ratings with today when most only had 3 or 4 channels to choose from back then.
And the 10 o'clock news got 5million views..
Today they look on the web

The maestro! He was brilliant. Ironic how he retired just before we found out about what his most impression was really like ( ie The Antipodean with the initials RH😮). His restaurant in Ireland experience reminded me of the following : We were farmers and one year we had 6 guys came over from Ireland to pick potatoes. The following year just before we were ready to harvest that years crop 2 of them came to see us to ask if they could work for us again. We asked "Will it be the same gang as last year?" Hows this for a typical Irish answer " Ah well now, it'll be the same gang as last year but two of us will be different!"

Absolutely, they all relied entirely on obscene words, and when the shock value died, so did they. Where are they now ? in 2019, on panel shows looking pathetic.

Henry Kelly said that he was staying in a hotel in Ireland. He was in his room having a shower when there was a knock on the door "Mr. Kelly, l've got a letter here for yer!" So he replied " Er, l'm in the shower, can you slide it under the door please?" The waiter replied " Ah now, l can't do that sir, it's on a tray!"

Yes, it’s a musical instrument not a prop. Phil actually layering a little finger-picking in with his crafted impressions rather than leaning against it and waiting for it to go out of tune. Thankfully he survived the era of smoke-filled clubs to keep live audiences holding their belly-laughs. A deal more cutting here than the showy, giggles he nurtured in his television act. Cool.

What a shame this guy was forgotten so quickly. A shame he ended up playing such small places when he deserved to be playing bigger theaters as he did in the 80's and early 90's.
I think the problem was that at the time he had a very limited stand-up set. The times I saw him do that lizard people Bill Clinton routine, where he takes off the mask and does the distorted alien voice before putting it back on, it did get old after a while.
Seems he got some good fresh material here. If he did that more back in the day maybe it would have gone a bit different for him and he would have stayed in the spotlight a bit longer.
Anyway, good to see him, despite it being a bit sad he's in such a tiny venue.
