Great video and as a diehard Detroiter, it is refreshing to find your extensive review of many of the city’s highlights. You prove those wrong who dismiss the “rust belt” cities as being backwaters or mere “fly-overs “ and who are missing out on some authentic cuisines, historic locations and geographically stunning places to visit and explore. Thanks very much for this, and indeed all, of your vids!

i found your videos when i was planning a trip to texas - was really pleasantly shocked to see this video of my hometown come across my subscriptions. thank you for making an actually positive and in-depth video on detroit! my wife and i really enjoyed it and look forward to trying out some of the restaurants and bars you recommended. my wife is from syria and she was really touched and felt represented when you included dearborn. keep up the good work, you deserve a lot more views and subscribers - i watch a lot of videos in this genre and i really like your detailed approach. & for anyone planning on visiting detroit i would also recommend the DIA, Slow's BBQ, and Alibi of Troy pizza (if you find yourself in the suburbs). we also have all 4 major sports located right in downtown, which is more rare than one might think. Thank you again! ~ alex

As someone from Detroit it’s cool to see all the RUclips vids popping up about it lately. I’m ready to gtfo and go back to LA(went to USC) but Detroit’s definitely the most underrated city rn

@@elitealice At this point. Do you still want to be in LA? After all the fires? And the job market really sucks here.

@ yes it’s the best city in America. And I’m a public policy grad so it’s the same market everywhere, every city state and federal government needs people to run it lol

Wonderful list and there is so much more. In terms of out of town there is Mackinaw Island. In Detroit itself is Coriander Kitchen right on the canal, vintage clubs like Baker's Keyboard Lounge and Cliff Bells. Seriously so much more. Thank you. We love our city. The neighborhoods are now coming back as well.

Great video. So nice to see all the positives about Detroit highlighted. Detroit is a great city with stunning architecture and a rich historical past. Living in 🇨🇦, across the river, Canadians especially enjoy the great sporting events in downtown Detroit. Surprised you didn’t highlight the fact that baseball, football, hockey and basketball venues are all located in the downtown area, within walking distance of each other. Nice reviews of the restaurant scene. Thanks for such an informative video. 👏👏🙂

Nice video. Come of things. The river rouge factory is pronounced differently; it means red in French. Also, The Henry Ford is super underrated. It has the JFK assassination car, Lincolns chair where he got assassinated, rosa parks bus, George Washington camping tent, etc

I just get so annoyed and tired of people from other cities like Cleveland, Ohio making snyde comments and remarks about our (up and coming) city of Detroit.
    Thanks for the vid...👍🏽

It’s not often that our city is mentioned in a good light, thanks so much for doing so. I’ve lived in Detroit suburbs most of my life and basically enjoyed the sports venues,i had some idea of other things to do in the city but am pleasantly surprised of how many other venues there are.Hopefully this will draw many more college graduates to consider making Detroit their home or at least temporarily, thus drawing young professionals that can recommend it generationally as they move on to the Great State of Michigan.

For anyone planning to venture slightly outside the core of Detroit , I’d highly recommend Ferndale, Royal Oaks, & as he mentioned Ann Arbor. R.O & Ferndale is pretty family oriented, great energy, & lots of places to eat. If in Ferndale, check out IMPERIAL (Taco’s Beer, Tequila & Bourbon), & if in Royal Oaks, check out PASTAIO (Handmade Pasta & Pizza). Ann Arbor is more college-town as it’s home to University of Michigan, but still solid nonetheless. Detroit def will be seeing me again 😎

After looking at the very hip bar, and restaurant scene please for a big laugh look at Anthony Bourdain's video. He seemed to imply that we didn't have many restaurants. He showed an illegal restaurant in someone's house. He visited a roadside barbecue stand run by a toothless woman in an abandoned neighborhood. I was angry for weeks.

    • @joeyllope621

That episode was bullshit lol, he was implying that nobody would want to move to Detroit and start a business after talking to one of the many chefs who moved to Detroit to start a business. I get that he wasn’t necessarily known for being a polished individual but some of the condescending remarks he made were pretty ignorant even at the time that episode came out

For wealthy people to pass the bill onto consumers yet not paying their workers more is a huge cop out. Just pay them more. I consider any percentage added as the tip. Hopefully, they are giving that all to their workers and not pocketing it.
I will definitely check these places out. I unfortunately probably won’t make it to Dearborn, but those restaurants look amazing.
