You're so lucky you get to do these trips with your dad! Enjoy!
Yea, it is so fun to be able to travel with him
The famous museums with collections of different, subject matter, the yummy food, the very cool park, the buildings, the famous sculptures, folk arts... so much to see. I had no idea about some of these draws. Thanks Josh and Pops, for being our FANtastic, tour guides.🏡🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
No problem! Thanks so much for watching!!
Great video as usual, and your weight loss is incredible
Very kind of you to say that!
Wow 🎉🎉 You visited my city HOORAY 🎉🎉 The next time, please visit the African American museum and Greenfield Village. 😊
Will do, would love to explore more. Such a cool city!
As Englishmen but owners of several Mustangs, two friends and I visited 9 years ago and absolutely loved it. We had friends that lived just about 20 minutes outside of Detroit and they had worked in the Motor City for decades, so they made wonderful tour guides! The Henry Ford is the best museum I've ever been to (just beating our own London based Natural History Museum!). Greenfield Village is well worth the entry fee, and as car nuts we also visited Ford's Rouge Plant, where you can see the F150 trucks being built. Detroit is a wonderful city and one we'd love to visit again. Thanks for the great video!
Thanks for the comment and I am glad you got to explore Detroit as well! We will have to go to Greenfield next time!
Those of us on the west coast are very jealous of that pizza. It looks delicious.
haha right?! It was so good haha
Yeah, Pops knew exactly how cute he looked with that cheese string hanging out of his mouth 👄
😉
It's nice to see Detroit making a comeback. I always root for the underdog
Yea, it was a fun place to explore!
Josh, you never disappoint! To be honest, I would not have thought of visiting Detroit, nor would I have watched anyone's videos from Detroit. But this video actually surprised me!I loved that you highlighted parts that very few people get to see. Thank you for sharing! Btw... the pizza looked amazing!
So glad you enjoyed it! We always try and go into new cities with an open mind and we had a lot of fun
@@ThroughMyLens So it seemed!😀
Do you all plan on visiting UPPER PENINSULA, as well? I've seen a video & it looks so beautiful in the Fall season. 🍁
Yep, we have a full 8 day road trip with half of it in the UP coming in the next month or so
Lafayette Coney is my pick if I’m in Detroit, but Coney Island in Kalamazoo is my favorite because I prefer the drier chili on a Coney.
Can’t go wrong with any of them though.
Good to know! Will have to check it out!
We never thought really about going to Detroit til we seen the videos you & Pop have posted. We are definitely going to check it out! Thanks Josh and Pops!
I live near there; don't. It's not worth it.
***Think FIRST!*** Research the safest places!! Just sayin'... I live here n Michigan!!
Thanks for the comment! Ya, I am sure there are lots of not as great areas but we found it to be a pretty fun city to explore for the day
Cool fact... I follow you and live in Canada right across the Detroit River from Belle Isle. This was an amazing video.
So cool! Thanks for following the channel!
Awesome my TML guys!! We would visit Detroit from Youngstown Ohio every summer to visit family. I’m glad you were able to visit Belle Isle even though the weather was not the best. We used to go there for picnics all the time. Once again you stirred up a lot of precious memories thank you. Besides going back to Detroit for pizza, next time if you get the opportunity, please go to the Renaissance Center. Your friend in Tampa.
Thanks for the comment and glad it stirred up some good memories! Thanks for the comment and I will check that out next time!
Great museums, and good pizza, it seems like the perfect place to visit with my son!! Great video, Josh. And I love how Pops has become a total food critic 😆🙌🏽
haha yea, he takes the food serious now 😂
Born and raised in Detroit! I have not been back in years. Might be time. Henry Ford museum is the best!
That is awesome, we really enjoyed it!
another great video, can cross another place off my list of not too worth it to go. Seem like a great place for vintage car people, but aside from that looks rough.
Fair enough!
That was pretty cool....
Just realized I've never been to Detroit 🤔
..so you didn't see the Eminem museum?
...have moms spaghetti? 😂
I really wanted to go to Mom's Spaghetti but I didn't get a chance
Love seeing you guys in Michigan my home state. I would love to see a Traverse City video.
We went through on the Michigan video we are making but didn't get to spend a lot of time there
It would have been cool to see you all bump into the Legendary, 'Needs NO INTRODUCTION', Mr. Bob Seger...Lol. ❤️🎸🎷🎹🎤🎧🇺🇸
Come back on the weekend and stop at Eastern Market. Also ride the people mover, go to Mexican Village, Cork town / central station, and a meal in Greek Town
My favorite city to visit!
That is awesome!
❤ Vincent Van Gogh self portrait rocks!!!
I agree!
Great video-this definitely changed my perception of Detroit!
***HAD TO OFFER!***
Wow, he made it out of there alive! 😂 j/k
haha!
SORRY FOR MY CRAZY LONG GRAMMATICALLY INCORRECT COMMENT BUT I GOT THE POINT ACROSS I WAS IN A HURRY
You cqn have a perfect day in detroit???
haha we had a great time!
No.
💖☀️😎☀️💖
Thanks for visiting Michigan and Detroit and highlighting just some of the great things in Michigan. Love your stuff.
No problem, full Michigan road trip in the next month or so
Edsel Ford house is really cool to visit too
Born and raised in Detroit. Lafayette Coney Island is the best. Been going there since the early 60’s. Wished you guy’s could’ve seen and experienced Detroit during the 60’s and 70’s. Watching your video makes me hungry going to Lafayette now❤
Thanks for the comment and the vote! Loved exploring the city
FYI the Artist Wyland is from Detroit, he painted the giant whale wall on the Broderick tower bldg. Unfortunately the owners of the bldg keep covering it up with advertisements. He went to the DAI and he was a boxer! You see his mural of whales all over the places you go! Cool tour!
Oh wow, that is cool, I have seen his work in other cities
Absolutely love your videos.....especially the ones when you and your Pops travel together. Such a special bond that all your viewers can see. Quick question, my wife and I along with our dog "Saylor" will be traveling through California summer of 2025. Our trip is titled "California Dreaming; Don't Worry, Beach Happy". My question is I did not factor in the opening of Tioga Pass when making our reservations. If Tioga Pass is not open in early June what is my option to get from Bishop to Oakhurst? Would you recommend going around through Tahoe or heading south?. Love you travel videos.
Steve
Good question! It is a long drive when Tioga is not open. I would recommend Tahoe though as that area is so beautiful and it is normally open unless there is a crazy snow storm or something
Man you were so close to the best hot dogs in the world right across the bridge in New Jersey. If you find yourself in NYC make the trip to Fort Lee and hit up Hirams French Fried hot dogs. It was Anthony Bourdain’s favorite place!
Sounds awesome, I will have to try that next time!
👋🏽I loved this…Josh and Pops you are both having too much fun and yummy pizza…TFS!
Thank you 🤗
Great video Josh & Pops! I've been to the Henry Ford museum but didn't know about the other cool spots. And after watching this, I'll have to plan a trip to Detroit and definitely have some coneys & pizza while there.
haha for sure have some pizza, it is so good!!
Thanks for the video! My wife and I would have never known about Detroit or different things Detroit offers if it weren't for this video. Appreciate you.
No problem, glad it helped!
Lafayette Coney all the way ftw! I worked across the street for 10 years. You hit a lot of the good stuff for a first timer. Great video. The riverwalk would have been really good. It's nice.
That is awesome! Thanks for letting us know your pick! Ya, I wish we could have gone to the riverwalk
I stopped in Detroit on my way to Toronto but didn't get to do much due to getting a late start. When I go back I want to try Vernor's Ginger Ale & there's some restaurant with corned beef egg rolls I want to try (because it sounds weird).
I will have to check out both of those spots!
Michigan Central Station is literally the most important Historic Renovation in Detroit in the last 100 years and you didn't go see it? Great video but you sure missed Detroit's newest gem.
Bummer I would have loved to have seen it! Next time!
I’m a local metro Detroiter and you really captured our downtown - place is really coming back and many many more things you can do next time - including all the local sports stadiums just up from campus martias . Another great area is the cork town area near the old tiger stadium and the newly renovated central train station completed by Ford…
Thanks for the great video
Thanks for the tips, I would love to go back and explore more!
you can get the pizza at Costco.
I visited Detroit looong time ago and your video looks Waaay different than my time there.
Guess I was in the wrong neighborhoods!!!😅😅😅
haha fair enough, I am sure it has changed over the years
The Detroit Historical Museum is an absolute MUST. 😉
Will have to check that out next time!
If we want to be somewhat downtown, what cheaper hotel or area do you recommend in Detroit?
Thanks for the comment! We stayed outside of the city near the Henry Ford museum and drove in. I am not sure what the best hotel would be in downtown, maybe someone more familiar with the city can provide a comment
Buddy's Pizza looks delicious but that other one looked bad.
They were both so good!
Rempel Crossing
The downtown coney is the weakest one from a person that live in Detroit for 25 years
Good to know! Where should we try it next?
The Maritime Museum looks interesting, there should be a museum for the Red Tails WWII fighter squadron, there is a museum at Selfridge ANG Base and also at the Windsor Airport, Fort Wayne & Fort Malden isn't too far away from Windsor Ontario, check out Greek town next time.
Thanks for the tips! Yea, there is a lot more I need to do!
@@ThroughMyLens I'm disappointed in how much Greenfield Village is charging for admission.
Really cool video. Glad you guys are visiting my state! Hopefully you make it up north to either The Sleeping bear dunes National Lakeshore or the Pictured Rocks in the UP!
We did! Full 8 day Michigan road trip coming in the next month or so
@@ThroughMyLens That's so cool! I live in Traverse City, hopefully you made a stop in our beautiful town if you went to the sand dunes! Can't wait to watch the video when it's released.
Please visit Carillon Park in Dayton, Ohio
I would love to!
omgg im from detroit metro and i luv ur channel!!
That is so awesome!
Pizza looks so good!! Glad you enjoyed!
It was so good!
Nice job! Museums in abundance!!
haha I know right? Lots of museums
Detroit pizza is the best pizza!
I wouldn't argue, it is pretty amazing
Belle Isle has Indy Car races on it
Oh wow that is cool!
Fisher Theater architecture!
Will check it out next time!
... um.. so... what IS Detroit pizza?
Detroit-style pizza is a rectangular pan pizza with a thick, crisp, chewy crust. It is traditionally topped to the edges with mozzarella or Wisconsin brick cheese, which caramelizes against the high-sided heavyweight rectangular pan.
It's very good!
0:35 haven't been there in decades😂
It is such a unique museum
