Watched so many videos with places to Visit in Detroit and this vedio is by far one of the best with some locations never yet mentioned in other videos. Great content....thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed it, Connie!!!! There were so MANY great places to visit!! We learned loads about Detroit in the time we were there - it has lots to offer!!
There are FIVE museums all together, including the Detroit Science Center. The DIA is one of the best art museums in the world and is free to Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb county residents. The building also houses the Detroit Film Institute (weekly asteemed movies and a film festival. Truly excellent. Across the street, the Detroit Historical museum, and the downtown branch of the Detroit City libraries with an amazing genealogical collection. Finally, the new African-American History museum.
Don't miss the Detroit Institute of Arts - they have some of the most famous impressionist paintings and peices of modern art in the world... and you can get right up close.
I grew up down the road from The Henry Ford & worked in Detroit. I now live over an hour away and am now itching to get back to the "D". Terrific video!
That is praise indeed. Thank you so much!! 😊😊 We loved experiencing Detroit for the first time and love hearing other people’s views. I’m sure you’ll have a great day in D very soon! 😎👍
Though my fave was the Ford museum, I was actually surprised by how cool it is that being on the Riverwalk, you can literally look over into Canada. That was very intriging to me. I gotta get my passport.
@@LifeOfReillyTV you're welcome. It's been a while, 2012. My dad was a well-known musician there and around the country. He played at the Elmwood Casino and Bob Lo Island, which both are long gone. You would've loved Bob Lo...fun.
Oh wow. That must’ve been fun to travel around with your Dad. Add a link to his work, if you’d like!! 😀 I’m hoping more music venues will start opening up in Detroit over the next few years. It will be amazing to see its’ growth!
Thank you!!!! Yes, he was good, wasn't he...and we did everything you saw in three days!!! I've just shown him your comment and he had a big smile on his face!
You missed the two biggest gems... right nearby (shared a parking lot) from the science center is the Detroit Institute of Art (DIA) and the Detroit Film Institute. The DIA is one of the best art museums in North America. The collection is remarkable, especially in Impressionist and modern art. Also, though a few miles down Woodward, is the Detroit Zoo. Fantastic.
Fab suggestions, Timothy!! Thanks!! We'll have to fly over and make another video, I guess @Visit Detroit!! Thanks for interacting with so many other comments too!!!
We live Downtown, for 16 years now, we love it! It has become an incredible place , especially in the last 7 years or so, nice neighborhood, so much to do Downtown.. pro sports, restaurants, festivals, great museums, culture, the best concerts, shopping…Belle Isle, bike/walkways, quite safe, great neighbors, diverse and accepting. Detroit is on the rise! Excellent Video!! Thankyou!!!
Thanks for taking the time to message!! It’s so cool to see the city thriving and it sounds as though it’s going to get even better!! Everyone was very friendly out there too!! We can’t wait to return!
I'm going to Detroit next week, and this video really assured me that even though I don't have long in the city, I'll be hitting some of the good spots. I can't visit Belle Isle and a few of the other places, but I'm hoping to be able to tackle the HFM and village, and some of the midtown museums.
What a wonderful job you did! They should hire you to do a tourism video! Bravo and thank you for showing that Detroit is not as scary as people think. Subscribed from Michigan ❤❤❤
I‘ve been to Detroit many times but it was always for the motor show, so it was always freezing cold winter…pity. At least the Belle Ille is free of charge in winter😏
I have lived in Detroit for 57 years and I have only eaten at Lafayette Coney Island. Hundreds of times actually after rock concerts. I have never even stepped foot in American Coney next door. That is because it is set up for tourists. There will be lines at Lafayette and open tables at American. That's just how dedicated the Lafayette consumer base is and they don't even have a public bathroom. I am actually headed there right now due to this video.
We actually stayed in Dearborn and drove in each day. We parked up in a parking lot right in the city center which had security etc. We also parked in the Adventure Center car park a couple of times, as it was close enough to walk to places. I'm sure the hotels will have secure parking. Have a great trip!
Detroit is also known as Rock City and is known for many artists from Madman Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Bob Seger, Kid Rock and Eminem to name a few.❤ Too bad you don't get to experience Boblo Island.😢
Start close to the basket and don't move back until you get your game on , making baskets😅😅😊😊❤ stare at that basket, don't take your eyes off basket......now shoot...let your arms linger in the air for follow through.bam🎉🎉🎉
That’s only a fraction of the beautiful sites in Michigan. If you had more time you could have taken a ferry out to the Manatau Islands off of Leland, which has a ship wreck. Mackinac has a historical fort. Then there is the Upper Peninsula which has a so much more. I am blessed to be a Michigander.
Nope. There are eight things to do touching the Detroit Science Center lot alone. Woodward shopping, Detroit Tiger Stadum, Ford Field, Greektown, Mexicantown. the Opera, Riverwalk, Eastern Market, the Renaissance Center, Detroit Zoo... the list goes on.
The problem is that no one builds cars or makes music in Detroit anymore. Motown Records moved to Los Angeles, and Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors make automobiles in Canada, Mexico, Texas, Kansas, Ohio, and Illinois.
Really well done! For any future visitors don’t skip the interiors of some of the most iconic buildings like the Guardian and Book towers for a good dose of 1930’s Art Deco.

Thanks so much, Mike!!!! That means a lot. I'm really pleased you enjoyed it!! We loved filming in the city and showing it off!!
Detroit is a world-class city, full of energy and excitement!
Absolutely!!!
They are expanding Motown. It will be even better soon.
Yes!! We’ll have to come back when it’s all finished!! 🎹🎵🎸
I think Detroit has great art, music, history, food and people!
100%!! We found that during our trip!!!
Thank you so much for showing our city attractions
It our pleasure and a privilege. A great city!! Thanks for taking the time to comment, Mark. 😎👍
That was really interesting. I had no idea there were so many cool things to do in Detroit.

A lot of these places aren't even located in Detroit

100% A VERY cool city!!
I also found some of the best places to go here in the motor city, Dave and Dylan!
Where are your favourites, Dennis?
When I was a kid, my dad did a weekly TV show from the Henry Ford Museum called The Exciting Years.
No way!!! I've just searched for it on RUclips but it doesn't look as though anyone has posted any shows. It's a great place to set a show, though!!
Im going next week to Detroit to see the Tigers . Now I have to book at least one day more. Its seems pretty interesting . Wonderful
Hope you have a great time in Detroit and go Tigers !
You definitely need an extra day. Enjoy the game and I hope you enjoy the city too. 😎👍

Detroit is the second largest city in the Midwest after Chicago, Dave and Dylan!
True!!!
The production quality on this video is crazy considering this video only has 70 views

Detroit is now an red city.👍😎
Red? Meaning conservative? Heh, no.... i doubt ever.
Yeah definitely not 😂😂

Why?
👍
Thanks!! 😎👍
Sorry for caring 😊
What's that?

Downtown is great, outside you may want to be careful. 😅
Just like every other major city in the States, not just Detroit. 😉 Detroit is awesome.
There are places for sure, but that's true of anywhere. The suburbas are fantastic, too.
So brave
Not really. If you aren't scared of LA, NYC, Miami then you have absolutely no reason to be scared of Detroit, settle down.
Is this city still alive ?
Uh yep, and it's awesome.
yes very empty
@@britishempire12 Thats sad. I wonder where everybody fled.
And thriving. And terrific.
Henry Ford Museum IS NOT IN detroit.
It is considered "Metro" Detroit... Wow.
It's in metro Detroit, settle down.
It's in metro Detroit, a few miles from downtown. Obvs.
All the real good stuff is in metro Detroit. The surrounding area that kept the city barely hanging on until the bankruptcy. 😢
