Fact! It’s really cool to move back to the US and experience my country on a deeper level for the first time. Though it has some big problems it also has so many unique and amazingly aspects to it. And I’m loving seeing it from these different sides!
I was shocked by the hospitality of the Muslim people when I was in Ramallah in Palestine. I'm an American Christian and was working for a Christian television ministry. They didn't care who we were, or that we were Americans. They welcomed us with open arms and invited us into their homes, fed us and treated us like honored guests. It strikes me that in the U.S., where we have far more than we need, we act as though we don't have enough, yet in parts of the world where they have little, they act like they have an abundance and are so generous with what little they do have. I'm fortunate to live a couple of hours from Hamtramck, and would like to visit someday.
Just a kind correction here brother, Ramallah is in Palestine. It's not the end of the world but for the fact of the occupation and apartheid I had to say that. God bless you and have a great day!
The family you're referring to probably now lost their land and house due to the occupation....but even with all the oppression and difficulty they they somehow manage to be Happy and try to facilitate others with a smiling face ..... Bcz that's how their religion teach them... prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said smiling to someone is also a CHARITY..... But unfortunately some of those people who are oppressed throughout their life lost everything they had and don't fear anything to lose became a person with full of hate and revenge.....
Agreed I was born in the UK and when we go back home Bangladesh they are so hospitable. One lady had few pennies to survive and they were so poor but offered us tea and sweets. So heartwarming and loving.
@@ahmedzakikhan7639 multicultural is one thing. I think you know what I’m trying to say Ahmed. I think a community dedicated to the Jewish or even American culture won’t be allowed in A LOT of countries.
I always have been amazed by muslim hospitality. I experienced it first in France during my childhood and later on by traveling the world including predominantly muslim nations. Muslim are the most welcoming and generous people and they expect nothing in return. I was so well treated and impressed by their generosity, hospitality and respect that I finally embrassed Islam in 1996.
I worked in Syria for a month, in the 90's! Palmyra is beautiful. The hotel at Palmyra is lovely, and the food is great. We performed in there. So many incredible places to see. The mosques in Damascus were incredible.

I do it all the time. There is not much to it actually. Just 1 thing,: be genuinely interested when you start conversation. People will notice that and open up to you. Just say hello, smile and ask what you want to ask and then they will open up. Good luck my friend!
@@fathertsunami8762 It's a little more complicated when you have social anxiety but the premise is still true. If you are genuine and open, you'll usually get a genuine and open response from people.
"You are a guest" (leave soon) killing joke. LOL Who is really the guest?! Instantly alienated you by calling you a guest. Read between the lines. Wake up
The reason why we muslims share everything and like guests is because prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa salam showed us and told us to be best People He said: the best amongst you are those who are most beneficial to the people around them
Peter, I live about 20 miles north of here and I've never seen Hamtramck. I appreciate your congeniality! When I seen your series hit close to home, I felt even more appreciative of your content. Keep it up!
This is so cool to watch. I spent some time in Hamtramck last summer so I recognize a lot of where you were. From the limited time had there, I grew to love it. There's a special feeling. It's not like downtown Detroit or the suburbs. It feels safe, which is unique because you wouldn't expect that with so many different cultures colliding. there's just a sense of humanity that I can't say I've experienced anywhere else. The There is beauty in the Muslim way of life. I heard the call to prayer downtown one day and it was beautiful to think that people are publicly called to worship every day. Bonoful was some of the best food I've ever had. Thanks for sharing Hamtramck with the world, Peter. No one shows humanity the way you do.

And they invented for Him sons and daughters, without any knowledge. Glory be to Him. He is exalted, beyond what they describe. 101 Originator of the heavens and the earth-how can He have a son when He never had a companion? He created all things, and He has knowledge of all things. 102 Such is God, your Lord. There is no god except He, the Creator of all things; so worship Him. He is responsible for everything. 103 No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision. He is the Subtle, the Expert. 104 “Insights have come to you from your Lord. Whoever sees, it is to the benefit of his soul; and whoever remains blind, it is to its detriment. I am not a guardian over you.” 143 And when Moses came to Our appointment, and his Lord spoke to him, he said, “My Lord, allow me to look and see You.” He said, “You will not see Me, but look at the mountain; if it stays in its place, you will see Me.” But when his Lord manifested Himself to the mountain, He turned it into dust, and Moses fell down unconscious. Then, when he recovered, he said, “Glory be to you, I repent to you, and I am the first of the believers.” 144 He said, “O Moses, I have chosen you over all people for My messages and for My Words. So take what I have given you, and be one of the thankful 145 And We inscribed for him in the Tablets all kinds of enlightenments, and decisive explanation of all things. “Hold fast to them, and exhort your people to adopt the best of them. I will show you the fate of the sinners.” 36 To every community We sent a messenger: “Worship God, and avoid idolatry.” Some of them God guided, while others deserved misguidance. So travel through the earth, and see what the fate of the deniers was. 16 And mention in the Scripture Mary, when she withdrew from her people to an eastern location. 17 She screened herself away from them, and We sent to her Our spirit, and He appeared to her as an immaculate human. 18 She said, “I take refuge from you in the Most Merciful, should you be righteous.” 19 He said, “I am only the messenger of your Lord, to give you the gift of a pure son.” 20 She said, “How can I have a son, when no man has touched me, and I was never unchaste?” 21 He said, “Thus said your Lord, `It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign for humanity, and a mercy from Us. It is a matter already decided.'“ 22 So she carried him, and secluded herself with him in a remote place. 23 The labor-pains came upon her, by the trunk of a palm-tree. She said, “I wish I had died before this, and been completely forgotten.” 24 Whereupon he called her from beneath her: “Do not worry; your Lord has placed a stream beneath you. 25 And shake the trunk of the palm-tree towards you, and it will drop ripe dates by you.” 26 “So eat, and drink, and be consoled. And if you see any human, say, ‘I have vowed a fast to the Most Gracious, so I will not speak to any human today.'“ 27 Then she came to her people, carrying him. They said, “O Mary, you have done something terrible. 28 O sister of Aaron, your father was not an evil man, and your mother was not a whore.” 29 So she pointed to him. They said, “How can we speak to an infant in the crib?” 30 He said, “I am the servant of God. He has given me the Scripture, and made me a prophet. 31 And has made me blessed wherever I may be; and has enjoined on me prayer and charity, so long as I live. 32 And kind to my mother, and He did not make me a disobedient rebel. 33 So Peace is upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the Day I get resurrected alive.” 34 That is Jesus son of Mary-the Word of truth about which they doubt. 35 It is not for God to have a child-glory be to Him. To have anything done, He says to it, “Be,” and it becomes. 36 “God is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path.” 37 But the various factions differed among themselves. So woe to those who disbelieve from the scene of a tremendous Day. 38 Listen to them and watch for them the Day they come to Us. But the wrongdoers today are completely lost. 39 And warn them of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be concluded. Yet they are heedless, and they do not believe. 40 It is We who will inherit the earth and everyone on it, and to Us they will be returned. 41 And mention in the Scripture Abraham. He was a man of truth, a prophet. 42 He said to his father, “O my father, why do you worship what can neither hear, nor see, nor benefit you in any way? 43 O my father, there has come to me knowledge that never came to you. So follow me, and I will guide you along a straight way. 44 O my father, do not worship the devil. The devil is disobedient to the Most Gracious. 45 O my father, I fear that a punishment from the Most Gracious will afflict you, and you become an ally of the devil.” 46 He said, “Are you renouncing my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will stone you. So leave me alone for a while.” 47 He said, “Peace be upon you. I will ask my Lord to forgive you; He has been Kind to me. 48 And I will withdraw from you, and from what you pray to instead of God. And I will pray to my Lord, and I hope I will not be disappointed in my prayer to my Lord.” 49 When he withdrew from them, and from what they worship besides God, We granted him Isaac and Jacob. And each We made a prophet. 50 And We gave them freely of Our mercy, and gave them a noble reputation of truth. 51 And mention in the Scripture Moses. He was dedicated. He was a messenger and a prophet. 52 And We called him from the right side of the Mount, and brought him near in communion. 53 And We granted him, out of Our mercy, his brother Aaron, a prophet. 54 And mention in the Scripture Ishmael. He was true to his promise, and was a messenger, a prophet. 55 And he used to enjoin on his people prayer and charity, and he was pleasing to his Lord. 56 And mention in the Scripture Enoch. He was a man of truth, a prophet. 57 And We raised him to a high position. 58 These are some of the prophets God has blessed, from the descendants of Adam, and from those We carried with Noah, and from the descendants of Abraham and Israel, and from those We guided and selected. Whenever the revelations of the Most Gracious are recited to them, they would fall down, prostrating and weeping. 59 But they were succeeded by generations who lost the prayers and followed their appetites. They will meet perdition. 60 Except for those who repent, and believe, and act righteously. These will enter Paradise, and will not be wronged in the least. 61 The Gardens of Eden, promised by the Most Merciful to His servants in the Unseen. His promise will certainly come true. 62 They will hear no nonsense therein, but only peace. And they will have their provision therein, morning and evening. 63 Such is Paradise which We will give as inheritance to those of Our servants who are devout. 64 “We do not descend except by the command of your Lord. His is what is before us, and what is behind us, and what is between them. Your Lord is never forgetful.” 65 Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them. So worship Him, and persevere in His service. Do you know of anyone equal to Him? 111 And say, “Praise be to God, who has not begotten a son, nor has He a partner in sovereignty, nor has He an ally out of weakness, and glorify Him constantly.” 85 Whoever seeks other than Islam as a religion, it will not be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers. Read The Quran “I am to you a clear warner.” “That you shall worship none but God. I fear for you the agony of a painful Day.”

Another great episode!!! I got goose bumps from the shared meal and the generosity of your table mates and the restaurant owner! Thanks as always for sharing. 🙏🏻
Dude was just literally invited to eat by three random strangers - who shared their food with him. A complete stranger into their world welcomed so openly to chat about their experiences. I feel a great sense of community among these people, moreso than my own. If I were to just stroll up on a table like that, I'd be met with suspicion and frustration that I'm intruding. Not here. I love it. I'd feel a LOT less alone if I lived somewhere like this.

I grew up in the Detroit area and left 30 years ago. It is still "home". When I was a kid, Hamtramck was all Polish. It was the place to go for "golubke" (stuffed cabbage) and "pierogis" (potato dumplings) and "packze" (jelly donuts) Dearborn was (and still is) mostly Muslim. Surprised to hear Hamtramck is Muslim too now. Every time I fly "home", the first thing we do is find a Lebanese restaurant! Detroit has the best middle eastern food in the west!
Lebanese restaurants are the best in the world. The present Lebanon state was founded by Catholics its half Christian now most of u.s Lebanese Americans are Christians.
I'm surprised of American peoples and their friendly and hospitality! I live in Russia, I'm Muslim too, but in our country majority part of population very aggressive. Two years before I was in Moscow and I was surprised of character and relationships of local peoples. Nobody doesn't respect others, doesn't help even doesn't smile. It's very awfully. I live in Southern part of Russia in Caucasus, and there peoples very friendly, very positive than in Central part of Russia. I watched this video and understood, why America so Great state in the world! 👍👍🇺🇸
Stuffed cabbage is a Northern Middle Eastern food (Levantine Arab and Turkish). All Europeans had been influenced by Northern Middle Eastern food when Northern Middle Eastern people like Levantine Arabs and Turks took over Europe thousands of years ago and brought with them Northern Middle Eastern food and culture.
The Muslims in Dearborn are mostly Northern Middle Eastern Arabs such as Lebanese Arabs, Syrian Arabs, and Iraqi Arabs. And they follow the Shia Islam religion (Shia Muslim). Same religion I follow. And Hamtramck has mostly South Asians such as Indians, Pakistanis, and Bangladeshi people. And these South Asians follow Sunni Islam religion (Sunni Muslim). And some even follow Hindu religion.
I've lived here for 7 years. It's my favorite place I've ever lived. My neighbors are the best. The food is amazing. The ppl are really friendly. The art is great too.
I was a Marine and fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. I walked away with nothing but the utmost respect for the regular people of those countries. They were kind, generous, honest, steadfast in their faith, and the most welcoming people I have ever met. They were overjoyed and proud to have you as their guest. It was a big deal to them that everything was just so and that you were comfortable and well taken care of. AND... the big secret... their women are gorgeous. I'm talking about a mountain goat herder who has 5 daughters that could all be supermodels. Ahmad was a local contractor who helped our supply people get stuff we needed. Ahmad was trying to marry off his daughters to men in the USA because they would have a better life. I played along (because this was a big deal in their culture) and he introduced me to his daughter Ameena. Ameena is literally the prettiest girl I've ever seen. I am 20 and she is 15. I was no buddy I can not marry your 15 year old daughter and take her to America for about 47 reasons. I often wonder what ended up happening to her. I hope she ended up in a nice situation.

Peter, It is clear the love that you carry in your heart to the Muslim communities. As a Muslim I' d like to thank you so much for your feeling and I hope seeing you soon in my country Yemen meeting the kindest people there.
@@JugeQaaraamiMusic How a beautiful word PEACE is, and it is much easier than war which unfortunately I don't know why always is picked as the best option. Insha Allah we will get peace soon. Yemenis also love Somalis. They are such amazing people.
I love how informative your videos are. You show genuine interest and curiosity in people's way of life without bias. Thank you for sharing! I have learned so much from your videos.
When my father came to the U.S. from Ukraine, he landed in Detroit and then Hamtramck. I was born in Detroit then moved to Hamtramck (as a baby) on Carpenter street, one of the streets you were on. My Ukrainian grandfather lived with us and he spoke no English and did not drive in this country - and because he lived in Hamtramck, it wasn't necessary. He was able to walk to the drugstore, bank, market, restaurant, bakery and poultry store (yes, live poultry in the city!) and do business in Ukrainian. Everyone could speak multiple languages and do business in Ukrainian, Polish, Russian, Czechoslovakian, English and more. Hamtramck used to have a bumpersticker that said "Hamtramck: A taste of Europe". It really was. Thank you, Peter, it was awesome to see Hamtramck's evolution through your eyes. It still has soul :)
Peter. You should visit Minneapolis/St.Paul. We have Somali, Hmong, Irish, Polish,Mexican, Ecuadorian, German, Scandanavian cuisine and culture. If you can find the right people to show you around it would make an incredible episode.
@Mills Rickman anti white? You saying white and segregating by color of skin means that you don't consider all humans equally. I think USA was diverse (before was established natives were extinguished by first colonists of N.America continent but this is another story) from the beginning. So now you say you would prefer it not to be diverse but more homogeneous? I actually like diverse environments where nobody feels threatened. I liked what I could see in this video. Obviously I don't like when people from different cultures, with different skin color threat somebody or feel threatened. I think you see diversity as a threat. You say "Being too nice has ruined our country". You leave another statement without explanation. Similarly to my earlier question what you mean please elaborate as you know nobody here can read your mind.
I usually skip long videos but I found myself watching this whole video without getting bored. It's a new discovery for me! I'm a muslim woman from Philippines👋 and I love how diverse Detroit is. They get along well. That's how I want to see the world. There's peace among different nationalities and religion.
Very interesting. Thanks so much for sharing this. It's amazing and refreshing to see nice people getting along. This is usually what we find when we get beyond the labels and new stories, and interact with real people.
Hamtramck is surrounded by inner city Detroit on all four sides and the urban fabric is very similar to what residential neighborhoods in Detroit may have looked like in 1950/1960 prior to the severe abandonment and decay that took place.
Fun fact, there is also a few herb shops legalized in this town. And to think here I am in the same state and my entire farming county does not even allow 1 shop. Says a lot... and my farming town is falling apart and majorly outdated.
As a bengali muslim you got my respect Peter. You know a lot about different cultures it shows. Thank you so much for sharing this experience of you with us.
I love America when the real Americans accept each others and willing and wanted to learn more about each others. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
There are no real europeans. No such thing as real european in Europe because all of the actual europeans came from Africa, middle east, central Asia or Mongolia. Thanks Attila and Genhis Khan. For that the new inmigrants from middle east and Africa in Europe are europeans like the older europeans. Because all of them came from somewhere else. All the people of the world came from AFRICA.
I just want to say that I really appreciate the way that you portray Detroit and the mix of beautiful cultures that make up the communities within the city. I am seeing so many other videos that focus on crime and the grime.. But you show that although these are still a reality there, Detroit is so much more than that. You are respectful to the different cultures and I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for putting them out :)
Gotta say Peter is a complete package, friendly, knows how to interact, knowledgable, and has this confident dignified look to him. Sure makes travelling that much smoother.
Peter, your channel is so important in times like these. There is sooooo much division among people, that it is so important for people to be exposed to cultures they wouldnt necessarily be exposed to on a day to day basis. The media does a freaking terrible job of unbiased reporting, and is what is fueling a lot of division.. but your channel really helps open the viewers eyes, mind and heart to realize though we may appear different on the outside, we share one commonality and that is that we are HUMANS just trying to be happy and care for one another. thank you
Wow when the Bengali guys and the restaurant owner refused to take money from you and the owner said you are my guest brother i got so teary and emotional 😭 …Thats so cool to see people being so chill and getting along with eachother🙏🏽❤️LOVED THIS and love that you are showing this side of the US too
See in Islam a guest comes with their own provision, you are just a means to what really is was theirs. Also To give without taking money is a form of reward, blessing, charity. Many of us forget this even as Muslim caught up commercially.
Nothing is free in this world brother... You just gave them your trust in exchange of a Dinner.. Thats quite expensive... They will use this trust at the right time... Look at their comments, it's Islam all over their comments.. It's just a matter of time when they will demand Sharia Law or a Separate Islamic country in America. And if the govt fails to meet their demand ,they will slit the throat of your grandson to put pressure on the govt.. But till this D-day they will make themselves appear very normal.. They have followed this pattern in other non Islamic countries as well ,where they have a sizeable population of their community ..
@@phobictoeverything so 200+ million Muslims there ALL of them are bad to non Muslim? Where do you get that from? You must have a lot of free time to research all 200 millions people there. Wow
I grew up in Hamtown in the early 90s. The place was predominantly Polish, Albanian and Yugoslavian at the time. Its nice that it continues to be a welcoming place for recent immigrants building their American dream.
I love this vlog so much. You do such a good job of capturing the positive aspects of the United States. I think everyone should watch your vlog to have a better understanding of all of the differnt and good people living in this country. Keep up the good work brother. Much love.
My heart broke when you spoke to that young Syrian lad. He was so well mannered and well spoken! Would love to know if there was any way we could support him
Muslim communities areas are respectful, mindful of neighbours, and nice to live around. No excessive drunkenness and fighting, No huge Drinking disturbing night long raves and prostitution markets filing the streets amongst many other things.
Peter, as a person who is half Indian, grew up in the West, but neither completely feels white nor Asian… more like a citizen of our planet, I was almost moved to tears by this video. You have such a good heart. You are so kind, respectful, and approachable. You truly are a wonderful man.

@Niro Pattar that is wahabi/salafi ideology which which is at best 2 percent of whole muslim population but sadly due to saudi arab money you only get to see that version of Islam By the way there are more than 70 sects of Islam
I was thinking the same thing. But when me and my friends did this in my town, some Church assholes called the police on us. I'd rather have some kids smash my car window playing cricket, than rob me for drug money.
My husband and I lived in Royal Oak for 2 years in the late 80s. We were in Hamtramik when the pope visited bc it was originally Polish. The area was the 1st place that I saw my 1st Mosque. Fascinating.
The old lady is awesome..beautiful heart she got.. and fun she is..I'm sure her grandchildrens really love being around her.. beautiful world when we all come together and live in peace... Bless up

Thank you Peter for opening eyes more peoples! You make a Great job! I watch your videos from Russia. I’m Muslim too. I like American peoples. You very friendly and hospitality peoples! 👍👍👍🇺🇸❤️
Wow!! I really enjoyed your video ☺️ Thank you for making the world aware of how Muslims are and that's everywhere in the world. I am Muslim and Im from Cape Town South Africa 🇰🇼❤️
This video makes me feel like I have seen the place with my own eyes. That is the journalistic genius. He does this naturally. Thanks bro Peter ! Excellent job.
Growing up in the Midwest, I took for granted the diversity of cultures living harmoniously together. It really is a beautiful thing. Great job capturing it, Peter.
diversity of cultures living harmoniously together literally never ever worked in the entire world. To this very day it's the origin of most of the conflicts in the world. And I don't even understand how you can call that diversity when the title says most of the people in this city are muslim. Not diverse at all. Unsuprisingly, people band together
I grew up in northern Indiana, about 3 1/2 hours away from Detroit, 2 hours from Chicago on the west side. I never really paid too much attention to it growing up, but I noticed a HUGE difference in the diversity, or lack thereof, when I moved to Colorado in 2016. I had friends of all nationalities and religions where I grew up. I had a Muslim teacher in middle school. Where I am now is either white or Mexican. There are other ethnicities here, but they are few and far between. I honestly miss a lot of the culture. The amount of narrow-minded people here is really irritating. There is no acceptance of other people, unless they behave the way the locals accept them. Colorado has some serious transplant hatred. ANY time something slightly negative happens you have people who were born in the state shouting stuff like, "it's all the people moving here", "go back home and it wouldn't be this bad" "it's all the damn transplants not understanding how we live out here" "it's the Californians who are making things worse". It's truly shameful that such a large population of Americans are so disrespectful to people(who are also mostly American) who are pursuing their own happiness, a right to which all Americans are entitled to.
Grew up in Hamtramck and you did a great job of representing what the city is about and all the feels to it . It’s a great place and love to see all the people and cultures coming together with empathy for one another ♥️
Bless you Peter, don’t stop doing what you are doing. 💜💜 Your videos should be shown in schools today so the kids can see what’s out in the world/or the state next door.🙏🙏
Awesome, I worked in Detroit and I stayed in Hamtramck and I LOVED it. The Yemeni restaurant was amazing! I’ve spent a lot of time in Saudi Arabia so it was very familiar and quite peaceful there. This is the birthplace of Dodge motors
Common thread that you hear people saying in your greater Detroit videos and it is so true- people there like the diversity and everyone really does get along. When I left that area I was so surprised to find how people are afraid of those who aren’t like them. Thank you for doing this series- proud of my people!
Something I really took for granted was that abundance of cultural diversity and how it melds together in that Wayne County area. Other cities have a lot of ethnic diversity but not necessarily in the same way.
"You are a guest" (leave soon) killing joke. LOL Who is really the guest?! Instantly alienated you by calling you a guest. Read between the lines. Wake up
he's so open minded.. understand other culture without judge them. also his knowledge about other country is awesome. it seems he reads a lot.. maybe also because he travels a lot.. seeing different culture..
This is beautiful to see. Children playing outside still in the USA. It’s also wonderful to see so many cultures of people living among each other peacefully Wish Cleveland was like this
I was born christian and I became a Muslim in my heart in Cody high school.I had family that lived and worked in hamtramck and Im greatful for the family and friends that I have christian and Muslim

I loved hearing the Syrian young man who worked in the store say how the US is great and you have so much freedom and opportunities. People forget that, they like to complain about how bad the US is. But the truth is we have a lot that people around the world could only wish for, including basic human rights.
Desperate people who came from countries completely destroyed by the USA will obviously love the USA because they are from worse conditions. As someone not desperate who's from a country that isn't at war, I would never put a foot in that shithole called The US, I care about my life and my peace.
@make a wish yeah that’s exactly what I’m saying. I’m a child of immigrants and a proud American just like the Syrian guy. You can’t shame us. Keep being jealous. Fix your weak-ass corrupt nation. We all have the same God-given potential.

This was an amazing video. I agree that most muslims are very welcoming, generous and helpful people. That Polish women was so humble about the change of the neighborhood. I learned a great lesson from her.
The work you do in bringing people together and bridging the gap that existed in America, it’s admirable and inspiring. If you ever get a chance to do Dallas
thank-you Peter for all your videos and keep doing the great work of showing the reality on the ground which the bias media fail to show. We watch all your videos without fail.
Love the video. Long ones can be a bit boring, but you do a great job with content, dialogue, facts, music, editing and so on. Keep it up. You're just scratching the surface of diversity in SE Michigan. Many SE Asians in Canton and Farmington Hills. Yemenis, Lebanese in Dearborn/Dearborn Heights. Syrians near Troy and in Dearborn. Chinese in Troy and Canton. Little Saigon in Sterling Heights. Other Italian, Polish, Greek, and Armenian neighborhoods. Huge Japanese population in Novi area. Many Jews in the NW suburbs. Chaldeans and more. Sorry for everyone I left out. Not intentional. You should have visited on Fat Tuesday. Hamtramck is famous for their paczkis. I see many messages from friends around the world interested in coming to Hamtramck. That’s great. The area has a lot to offer. I’d also encourage some awareness of those not so familiar with the Detroit suburbs. One thing to note is that redlining followed by the White Flight and the loss of manufacturing jobs and then the Great Recession have been particularly hard on the African American community in the suburbs of Detroit. Many boarded up houses and people struggling. Many good people there, but some of those people turn to crime. Those areas tend to be in pockets just like the other ethnic communities. Very easy to enter such an area by accident. About 20 years ago, our warehouse was robbed by hi-lo driving dudes with masks and machine guns. That was just on the border of Hamtramck. About 15 years ago, I was rubbed at gun point at a gas station about 4 miles from Hamtramck. About 10 years ago, someone turned up dead outside a gas station I had visited the night before....That as about 8 miles from Hamtramck. Also have similar stories from friends/family who work in or visited the area. Fortunately, over the past 20 years or so, many have seen Detroit and suburbs as a good investment. A lot of revitalization happening. Things are improving, both the conditions and the safety. But, the improved areas tend to be right next to the not-so-good areas. So, it's easy to wonder into somewhere where you might not belong. It's not that they are bad people. But, they might be doing their thing and not anticipating your ass to wonder up their street. They might have an unsophisticated or possibly aggressive reaction to show whose street it is. So, dont' be afraid, but do your research and go where you want to see.
It is amazing to see kids still walking to the park to play ball. It is like in the old days when there was no internet and video games and other stuff that distracted kids from getting some fresh air.
1 In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful. 2 Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds. 3 The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 4 Master of the Day of Judgment. 5 It is You we worship, and upon You we call for help. 6 Guide us to the straight path. 7 The path of those You have blessed, not of those against whom there is anger, nor of those who are misguided. 2 God, there is no god but He, the Living, the Eternal. To Him belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth. He is the Sublime, the Magnificent. Originator of the heavens and the earth. He made for you mates from among yourselves, and pairs of animals, by means of which He multiplies you. There is nothing like Him. He is the Hearing, the Seeing. 3 He sent down to you the Book with the Truth, confirming what came before it; and He sent down the Torah and the Gospel. 4 Aforetime, as guidance for mankind; and He sent down the Criterion. Those who have rejected God’s signs will have a severe punishment. God is Mighty, Able to take revenge. 5 Nothing is hidden from God, on earth or in the heaven. 6 It is He who forms you in the wombs as He wills. There is no god except He, the Almighty, the Wise. 1 Say, “He is God, the One. 2 God, the Absolute. 3 He begets not, nor was He begotten. 4 And there is none comparable to Him.” 13 To Him belongs whatever rests in the night and the day. He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 14 Say, “Shall I take for myself a protector other than God, Originator of the heavens and the earth, and He feeds and is not fed?” Say, “I am instructed to be the first of those who submit.” And do not be among the idolaters. 100 Yet they attributed to God partners-the sprites-although He created them. Whenever I start feeling really discouraged about human beings, I watch Peter's videos and feel hopeful. One thing I've noticed, I live in a rural Southern town where people aren't friendly, welcoming, helpful or polite. Seeing city dwellers who are all of these things and who have a sense of community, makes me feel like I'm missing out on something.
@@dietischlampe1327 I've been here 34 years and have never known that to be true in the real sense. Sure, you can experience it to a certain degree if you're connected to a family here in some way, but even that's artificial and not authentic. I'm speaking of Tennessee, not sure how it is in other states in the South.
@@dietischlampe1327 It really depends on where you are. Where I live, quite a few people will be nice in the sense that they'll greet you passing by and refuse to honk, but many others instead embrace a more confrontational side where they're willing to greet people in a friendly way, but if you don't meet their standards or traditions, they'll call you out for it. As an example, my girlfriend and I were just walking down a street together and some guy pulled over next to us to tell us we needed to walk with me next to the road since I was a guy (old tradition based on misogyny, which my girlfriend and I don't follow since we both value eachother's lives equally) and he just kept watching us until we did so. It is much worse if you're not Christian and they know it.
I perfectly understand how you feel! I was born and half raised in Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬 , it’s a Soviet Muslim country, so I am so used to community and closeness and diversity. Than we moved to Germany where Muslim community is large as well so it felt like home:) community and traditions where still kept. 13 years ago I moved to Texas 😭 and no community, no hospitality really…..yes to a degree….Southerners will never fully accept you if you not born in Texas…..they don’t want to hear nothing about Allah and Islam, only Jesus exist here and if you don’t go to church you are an Antichrist and quickly pushed out of community 😏😔 most unwelcoming 13 years of my life and I constantly feel I am missing out on LIFE! I want to move to this community now so my daughter gets the feel of my growing up, always together, always loyalty and respect to Elders and each other!

1 In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.

4 And there is none comparable to Him.”
13 To Him belongs whatever rests in the night and the day.
I am not a guardian over you.”
143 And when Moses came to Our appointment, and his Lord spoke to him, he said, “My Lord, allow me to look and see You.” He said, “You will not see Me, but look at the mountain; if it stays in its place, you will see Me.” But when his Lord manifested Himself to the mountain, He turned it into dust, and Moses fell down unconscious. Then, when he recovered, he said, “Glory be to you, I repent to you, and I am the first of the believers.”
144 He said, “O Moses, I have chosen you over all people for My messages and for My Words. So take what I have given you, and be one of the thankful
145 And We inscribed for him in the Tablets all kinds of enlightenments, and decisive explanation of all things. “Hold fast to them, and exhort your people to adopt the best of them. I will show you the fate of the sinners.”
36 To every community We sent a messenger: “Worship God, and avoid idolatry.” Some of them God guided, while others deserved misguidance. So travel through the earth, and see what the fate of the deniers was.
16 And mention in the Scripture Mary, when she withdrew from her people to an eastern location.
17 She screened herself away from them, and We sent to her Our spirit, and He appeared to her as an immaculate human.
18 She said, “I take refuge from you in the Most Merciful, should you be righteous.”
19 He said, “I am only the messenger of your Lord, to give you the gift of a pure son.”
20 She said, “How can I have a son, when no man has touched me, and I was never unchaste?”
21 He said, “Thus said your Lord, `It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign for humanity, and a mercy from Us. It is a matter already decided.'“
22 So she carried him, and secluded herself with him in a remote place.
23 The labor-pains came upon her, by the trunk of a palm-tree. She said, “I wish I had died before this, and been completely forgotten.”
24 Whereupon he called her from beneath her: “Do not worry; your Lord has placed a stream beneath you.
25 And shake the trunk of the palm-tree towards you, and it will drop ripe dates by you.”
26 “So eat, and drink, and be consoled. And if you see any human, say, ‘I have vowed a fast to the Most Gracious, so I will not speak to any human today.'“
27 Then she came to her people, carrying him. They said, “O Mary, you have done something terrible.
28 O sister of Aaron, your father was not an evil man, and your mother was not a whore.”
29 So she pointed to him. They said, “How can we speak to an infant in the crib?”
30 He said, “I am the servant of God. He has given me the Scripture, and made me a prophet.
31 And has made me blessed wherever I may be; and has enjoined on me prayer and charity, so long as I live.
32 And kind to my mother, and He did not make me a disobedient rebel.
33 So Peace is upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the Day I get resurrected alive.”
34 That is Jesus son of Mary-the Word of truth about which they doubt.
35 It is not for God to have a child-glory be to Him. To have anything done, He says to it, “Be,” and it becomes.
36 “God is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path.”
37 But the various factions differed among themselves.
45 O my father, I fear that a punishment from the Most Gracious will afflict you, and you become an ally of the devil.”
46 He said, “Are you renouncing my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will stone you. So leave me alone for a while.”
47 He said, “Peace be upon you. I will ask my Lord to forgive you; He has been Kind to me.
48 And I will withdraw from you, and from what you pray to instead of God. And I will pray to my Lord, and I hope I will not be disappointed in my prayer to my Lord.”
49 When he withdrew from them, and from what they worship besides God, We granted him Isaac and Jacob.
Your Lord is never forgetful.”
65 Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them. So worship Him, and persevere in His service. Do you know of anyone equal to Him?
111 And say, “Praise be to God, who has not begotten a son, nor has He a partner in sovereignty, nor has He an ally out of weakness, and glorify Him constantly.”
85 Whoever seeks other than Islam as a religion, it will not be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.
Read The Quran
“I am to you a clear warner.”
“That you shall worship none but God. I fear for you the agony of a painful Day.”

How can i be here.

@Mills Rickman what is not a good thing and why?
4 And there is none comparable to Him.”
13 To Him belongs whatever rests in the night and the day.

Growing up in the Midwest, I took for granted the diversity of cultures living harmoniously together. It really is a beautiful thing. Great job capturing it, Peter.
I'm loving the Midwest :)
Reality is its not. Multiculturalism doesn't work. Look at Canada. Ppl like you think so but there is evidence its a disaster
diversity of cultures living harmoniously together literally never ever worked in the entire world.
Lots of love from India

Common thread that you hear people saying in your greater Detroit videos and it is so true- people there like the diversity and everyone really does get along. When I left that area I was so surprised to find how people are afraid of those who aren’t like them. Thank you for doing this series- proud of my people!
Something I really took for granted was that abundance of cultural diversity and how it melds together in that Wayne County area. Other cities have a lot of ethnic diversity but not necessarily in the same way.
Truth. I grew up near Chaldean town in Detroit. The only thing foreign in Detroit coming up was white people outside of downtown.

I loved hearing the Syrian young man who worked in the store say how the US is great and you have so much freedom and opportunities. People forget that, they like to complain about how bad the US is. But the truth is we have a lot that people around the world could only wish for, including basic human rights.
@make a wish but america is great if you’re in America lol

Would Muslims be equally humble if the demographic changes resulted in their prominence being diminished?

My wife is originally from this area. She is Polish and tells me that this was once heavily Polish (before Detroit fell apart)--as mentioned in the video. Special shout-out to Kowalski’s factory . That 85 yo woman was a gem. Reminds me so much of my mother-in-law. ❤️
@Lilman Yellow the muslim community here does a great job at building and brightening some of the broken down areas in and around detroit. For example, lonyo st on the border of dearborn and detroit.
@Lilman Yellow actually Detroit had this thing called a white flight back in the 50s and 60s when more African-Americans were starting to do well and started moving into the city White started moving out and I just exacerbated Detroit’s debt issue
I thought Southerners are famous for their hospitality.
