The problem with any Burl Top is that in order to be used as a guitar's top the burl needs to be stabilized typically by the use of epoxy. Epoxy doesn't have the best tonal properties, especially when used on what many consider a very traditional guitar like a Les Paul. I can't say how epoxy would effect the tone, but on such an expensive instrument like a Les Paul many are not willing to take the chance.
I thought Elderly Instruments was gone! I bought one of my first guitars with them in the mid 90s. An Ibanez RG440 Roadstar II in the sea foam green/turquoise burst.

One little thing... when repaired properly, the glued joint of a headstock repair actually is a bit stronger than you might think. Definitely not a weak spot.
This is true. Years ago I had a guitar with a headstock that had been repaired by a very skilled luthier. It played like it hadn't been damaged. Sounded so good, a "friend" eventually stole it, or I would still own it. You had to look with a bright light to tell it had been fixed.

Hell, she's my guitar, & when I go to show it to someone, I have to look for it. She's a Fireburst in otherwise near-mint condition. I’d like to see more about the Jim root guitars I know there is even a squire Jim root tele. Oh and the Jim Root jazzmaster is the only one I want.
Don't be so hard on the black Epiphone! I like it. It's just a different variant of the headless SG, however, I wouldn't rock either one of them!
Burl maple tops are a lot like granite countertops. They're not for everyone but they do look nice.
They aren't that alike, granite is classy, burl tops are gross and tacky
I saw the one on the thumbnail the other day
That strat probably has an in and out of phase switch and the rest is impossible to guess how it's wired.
Olha...saudações do Brasil (greetings from Brazil). The Gibson Xmas Tree is from here.
I totally agree about burl -it looks like a slice of lung.
Nice histology reference lol
You're like the Huell Howser of guitars. Only old-ass Californians like me will know who that is, but...
RELIC OLD AGE GUITAR : IT'S STUPID!!!!
I feel queasy...
Well you review the new Epiphone les paul 1959 ?
Mosaic? Looks like a bowling ball finish to me. Lol
cant go to sleep without a trogly's video!!!!
Oh hey I was the one talking about the EB1 yesterday. Hahaha.
8:08. Is this a Les Paul Axcess?
Right with ya on most of those burled tops. Yuck. And, the six-pickup Strat -- WTF? Send me some of whatever that guy was smokin'. ...I'll sell ya my share of headless guitars, cheap ... All Things Reliced just irritate the bejeebers outta me. If you want your guitar to look all beat up, play the dawg-shit out of it for 30 years; anything else is FAKE.
Trogly's in the HOUSE!!!
So someone took an Epiphone and made firewood out of it,,
You should look at Dunable Guitars.
