I bet someone recognized your name as trogly and everyone knows what trogly does so if a guitar guy happened to see your name they would know there’s a guitar in the package. So he stashs it while he tried to get it out of the facility. Definitely something dodgy with either USPS or US Customs

It happens in plain sight: the package is put to one side, and is eventually sent to auction. Now, the question is, who pays for that to happen?

I'm rather peeved that all these guitars are ending up in Japan. Decades ago, eBay sales were easy and cheap, and most sales were within the continental US. Now you gotta pay $600 for shipping & worry about damage on a long journey, and shady customs agents.

Only imported stuff via FedEx and UPS, new and used and only the used one got stuck in JFK customs, but then I got called and e-mailed about “what is this? what woods is it made of?” Thankfully I was able to find an archived spec sheet and forwarded it to them, probably that CITIES endangered lumber thing. It was not made with rare woods, so 2 days later it was at my door.

Chicago customs has a massive theft problem. Since your boxes are obviously guitars, they are easy targets. They also have teams of people who will intentionally destroy the labels on packages so they can buy them at auction for cheap and resell them. This is likely what happened to the guitar you bought twice.

I bought one of them Squire Mustang models that wasnt to expensive through Reverb but the store was located in Africa. It took like 4 or so months to finally get it but I guess they must know values since I got mine but you didn't not once but twice. A little tip . If you ever come across a Melancon made Telecaster or any other model these guitars are boutique guitars but well worth checking out .I've never owned one but have played a couple . You'd love it. These guitars were typically made special order and for established name musicians .

Send your oders though UPS going to be more money, but what ever
Facility in that country order from at UPS, it will leave with process papers, so whenever it lands in the country of origin, it’s already processed . UPS does not send any international packages without being process .

Have the shop put an Apple Air Tag in the case. You will find out which agent is a crook. Then let the FBI know.

Hey could you look at the Cort Manson MBM-1 guitar I been thinking of getting one but I can't find any decent reviews and I know you would do a amazing job making one. It would be cool to see the one with a built in midi controller but it's really expensive so understandable if you don't make a review on it.

I have a custom guitar from France, it has plaster on the body to give a textured finish, so UPS Customs scraped the finish to take samples of the plaster. Apparently they were testing for Formaldehyde? I had to sign a paper declaring there is no formaldehyde in the guitar. I think the biohazard emblem on the finish freaked them out. They are idiots who damage art out of fear.

Platings. As they plate metal they dip it in different stages. They put on copper then chrome. Or nickle then chrome. So nickle covers don't have the chrome over them. You can get electroless nickle on things also. Electroless nickle looks real cool!!
