The green-burst finish looks amazing in the v. The slightly longer body with the hockey stick headstock looks wacky but amazing. Slightly weird looking but is reminiscent of early thrash metal durring the 80s
I'd like all of these a lot more if they had three a side pointy headstock's. For what these are, I like my Jackson king V's and regular stock Gibson V's. These are really nice, though, and they're unique.✌
That is something I ate recognised myself about all of these models, how they appeared to have swapped out the traditional V headstock for the Explorer hockey stick version.
Dave likes all his tuners easily accessible onstage if he has to fine tune. Reaching underneath is a pain in the butt and he doesn’t want to have to remember which way to turn the bottom keys when he’s playing live. So that’s why they did the 6 in-line. Personally, I think the Explorer headstock looks cool on the V.
@@ericbgordon1575 I personally prefer 3+3 myself on most guitars, I only own 2 six in line guitars (and one is reversed, a real pain in the butt lol) so I understand where Dave is coming from. I would generally prefer the V traditional headstock. But in this case, I think the Explorer headstock works well. Especially since it’s a “metal” style guitar. Gives it more of an aggressive look and fulfills Dave’s need to have easily accessible tuners. So I think it works.

I don't like the acoustic at all because I feel they could've picked a better design then just slapping Vic all over the pickguard and the dual octave fretboard looks odd. I love the EXP V's from Gibson, I think it's cool as a sort of newish take with the smooth body and inline headstock and I'd love to see what other colors they'll add (or if they'll do an Epiphone run of them) but I don't care for the Custom Shop model as it seems odd with the gold hardware and the string through and bound body but the inline headstock instead of the standard V style. I think in the future they'll definitely try to release an Explorer since Dave used those too when he was with Dean, I'd be interested to see if they do a sharper Kramer version and a more classic-ish Gibson version just like the V's but I'll bet you they'll do it within a the coming year or so. yup same here, the Kramer is really kicking, the silver looks very cool, but the green has this Wow feeling! and looking forward too to this 10k V custom ^^...
The "Rust in Peace" V EXP is just gorgeous, the inlays are just the cherry on top. The inlays on the regular signatures look like something you'd see on a BC Rich. I would be surprised if Gibson lends a DM sig to one of his former bandmates.
My favorite looks-wise is the silver Gib. I like the look of the Kramer, too, and I’m REALLY into Kramers lately (maybe it’s nostalgia for EVH). What I DON’T like about the Kramer is that although the bottom V where the strings go thru looks amazing and fits the style, the problem is that coupled with the banana headstock, the high E string is the longest string - whereas fan-fretted guitars are becoming more popular is bc the thinner the string, the SHORTER it should be. I won’t go heavy into the theory (many reading already will know it), but it’s main effects are easier playing and truer intonation. I’m not suggesting fanned frets per se, but I’m suggesting a similar effect can be achieved with 1) a reversed headstock & 2) a NW-to-SE slanted saddle.

It’s the closest to Dave’s usual axe and that makes it the least interesting for me, ironically enough. I already have a King V and a VMNT, so that doesn’t help I guess.
The inlays on the green Gibson are the same shape as the object that Vic (Rattlehead) is holding on the cover of Rust in Peace. It's a cool touch. It's also a personal touch for Gibson (& Kramer) to use the Explorer headstock on Dave's V models because he never liked the 3 + 3 configuration. I imagine the specs will be his standard specs he's had since the early 90s: mahogany body/neck, ebony board, his signature Seymour Duncan Live Wire active pickups (basically an active JB/Jazz), 25½" scale, 24 frets, recessed Dunlop Strap Locks. He'll probably get an Explorer, too. The inlays on the RIP model are the crystal Vic has in his hand on the album cover.
I want to be able to get a lefty USA Explorer (the Dean versions were either super expensive USA custom shop or the super low-end import models for lefties).
I cringed a little when he was talking about the Rust in Peace model and made a Peace Sells joke... thats a whole different album, Trogly... at least you tried lmao
The Kramer is the one I want. I got into Kramer guitars thanks to Judas Priest and other bands from the 80s. I’m so happy to see that the brand is finally seeing new life with the sigs being announced over the last couple months
The skull on the acoustic is Vic Rattlehead and it's the Megadeth "mascot" like Iron Maiden's Eddie. Vic is also an embodiment of "See no Evil, Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil.
Of course Trogly likes the green burst. It looks like a radioactive Antigua finish! (It's also my favorite of the bunch, but for the green and not the Antigua-like burst)
I'm not overly keen on the rounded V shape. Much more a fan of the Kramer look. I've owned his Dean Angel of Deth and the LTD DV8 models, so if I'm going to get one (and I probably will!) it's the Kramer for me. I'm also curious to see the price point for the acoustic and see if I can get that. I've not had an acoustic at home for a while, so I'm kinda missing that vibe.
I love the his Gibson V. Strange with the explorer hockey stick headstock but I love it. The Gibson flying v is my favorite guitar anyway. That green one would be interesting to see with the arrowhead headstock.
No fret nibs is Mustaine's spec as far as this video is concerned. Much like Adam Jones, Mustaine uses jumbo frets which is considered standard for met-hull guitarists. I think any of these electrics will be good for a review because Dave is very involved with everything he puts his name on. Work on those right hand chugs/gallops and get a good pre-amp (if you don't have one already) to get that 80s thrash/NWOBHM tone to get the idea of these guitars across.
I'm really digging the models they've shown so far. I understand why Dave signed with them and I definitely understand why Gibson wanted him. I'm excited to find out more about the specs soon.
It's a good thing that I am not in the market for another electric guitar. This particular development is testing my resolve to purchase the pre owned Hamer V with Gibson mods that is available for sale in my New York City locale. Whoever does get that particular model is going to be super fortunate and superbad.
5:50 The character is called Rattlehead and he appears in at least 50% of every Megadeth album cover all the way from their first album "Killing is my Buisness" but it's only the head just like on the guitar
Okay...I'm pausing during the intro, cause I gotta throw this out there. In the mid 90's when Dave was playing Jackson's, he tried to buy a controlling interest in Gibson and got shut down by their board at the time. In the early 2000's while Dave had switched to ESP he only made that switch after trying to buy Jackson guitars (which was struggling at the time) from FMIC. When this failed and ESP refused to give Dave carte blanche in the companies decisions as an endorsee; he left ESP for Dean guitars. Dave AGAIN tried to buy a controlling interest in Dean guitars but was shut down by Diamond (Dean's Parent company after they were sold off by Praxis..who later went on to purchase B.C. Rich and run it into the ground). In spite of this new Dave Mustaine signature Gibson; I haven't seen him removed from Dean's endorsee roster yet...I think Gibsons new management (who is a Megadeth fan) could very well be placating Dave.
Gibson is releasing some cool signatures this year!

for me the V shape isn't practical, but If I had to buy one I would go to ebay and get a Dean VMNT, it has the better looking headstock and inlays.
The fact that the Kramer is spelled out using Megadeth's font is a great touch, I'll be a sucker for these ones!
I definitely be interested in one of the Kramer models especially if they did one in all black or that metallic silver.
I was really hoping the Kramer would be a bit affordable but as it is MIA, i doubt that. But hey! Still really cool!
Look at what they have done with Slash, there will be affordable ones believe me.
That Kramer Flying V looks sweet.
Of course Trogly likes the green burst. It looks like a radioactive Antigua finish! (It's also my favorite of the bunch, but for the green and not the Antigua-like burst)
I actually like the black Gibson V the best. The inlays on it are sick. Very cool 🤘
I honesty prefer the ones with the stop bar, if I ever wanted to add a TP-6 tailpiece I could just add it. Green one looks best.
Tbh, I was also expecting explorer styles guitars. a 84' inspired Kramer would be perfect
Like the kramer👍
I like the green it reminds me of a green that I used to have on one of my Lotus guitars
It's a good thing that I am not in the market for another electric guitar. This particular development is testing my resolve to purchase the pre owned Hamer V with Gibson mods that is available for sale in my New York City locale. Whoever does get that particular model is going to be super fortunate and superbad.
Looks cool, but I'm done with Gibson after what they did to Satelite guitars and the Coronet
What happened??
I love these new Gibsons but Dave’s Jackson guitars will always be my favorite
5:50 The character is called Rattlehead and he appears in at least 50% of every Megadeth album cover all the way from their first album "Killing is my Buisness" but it's only the head just like on the guitar
I can't wait to get my hands on either model, Kramer, Gibson or a Epiphone.
He played an Explorer shape with Dean for a while, wonder if they’ll go that route. The single pickup one looked great.
I love green guitars, so I'm definitely eyeing the Gibson, but that Kramer has my attention for sure
The Kramer is very nice so Im in. I have a 93 Jackson silver metal flake and a 2015 Dean VMNT so the Kramer will be a nice addition.
Kramer USA FTW
With a headstock at that angle, having the 3rd string at such a big angle, are there tuning issues with these Kramers?
That silhouette on the back is reminiscent of the Gumby Zakk on the back of the Zakk Wylde models Gibson used to make.
"Rust In Peace album skull guy" lol. His name is Vic Rattlehead.
