I really enjoy watching your reviews. Besides you being very qualified, you are a good presenter. I'm going to repeat my suggestion of reviewing an LAG Rockline from the mid 90's, mostly bcz I own one, and feel, that it's the most comfortable guitar, that I've ever handled (which ISN'T a huge number - I can't play AT ALL). I got it very cheap, and even though I only play with it an hour a year at max, I still don't want to sell. I've had a very competent shredder type metal dude, that all the others at the art school were impressed by, to play on it, and he spoke very nicely about it - but would change the PUs, if it had been his. I've thought about painting it with flames, or covering it with 24 k gold, just for fun - or painting sculls and making silver scull knobs and stuff (I will make some to sell, if anyone is interested - I do "all" kinds of art/design) or something else stoopid, but will probably never get around to any of those things.. Really enjoy your channel..!!!!
Hey Trogly, this scammer in the replies keeps replying to my comments on your videos as well. I tried to report him but youtube wont let me for some reason.

@@CONEHEADDK No offense to you at all but that just isn't a guitar that most people are interested in, especially in the US where the majority of guitar players and collectors are located. Just because a guitar may play decently doesn't mean it's good content. There are all kinds of good playing obscure guitars out there. I understand that you are interested in it because you have one but I'm sorry to say the reality is that most people aren't interested. You may have gotten a good deal or a good guitar for the price but it's not ground breaking, it doesn't have much historical significance, it's not a guitar with a lot of interest, or really anything else other than the fact the you have one. @@ChrisEck13 No problem. I can handle "any" critizim, if it's done in a polite way. And I know, that it's nothing special, just because there isn't many of them. I did get a very good deal, bcz the guy who owned couldn't sell it, bcz "nobody" knew the brand. HUGE thank you to whomever donated the time and effort to bring their Greeny to Austin to document. Seriously, that is HUGE. To let someone do what he does in documenting...wow you are a fan. Couldn't imagine watching someone deconstruct a guitar I paid $50,000 for, Trog would be the guy I would allow to if forced I guess, lol. Either way good on ya good sir (or ma'am).
Just want to say, shout out to childless great work getting this guitar in I wish you could get the Paul Kossoff collectors choice in and show us a great demo and the measurements of the pick ups they used in the guitar. I am truly curious to see just how point to spec the re-issue pick ups I have are from throwback And also the ones from Wiz and another or nine. Thanks. 6:03 6:11 6:21 6:25
12:58 Well, Gary Moore did actually have the neck pickup reversed back to its 'normal' position from about 1976-1989. The headstock repair is from when Gary was involved in a car crash sometime in the '80s (a van drove into the back of him) and it's also him who changed the knobs, bridge and tuners.
Yes, this is very much a Gary Moore guitar more than a Peter Green guitar. Every pic I've ever seen of Peter playing it, the guitar was in fantastic condition. No wear at all on the front of the guitar. Also, at that point it was much more red than yellow.
The guitar experienced a pretty significant break in the neck heel area in the car accident. Whoever fixed it did an almost miraculous job, as it is extremely hard to see the repair. There was a different repair to the headstock that is not as easily seen as the major break that must have happened later on. That one had dowels inserted on the side of the headstock near the E and B strings, and the finish touched up unlike the big break that is easily visible.
Gotta be honest about it....50,000 dollars for this is about 41,500 dollars more than a new R9 and I just am not seeing the added value. In fact I don't care for fake aged/relic'ed guitars.
That’s cool because I think they’re all sold out anyway. You’re in luck though because they have a CS R9 at the local shop, and I’m sure any other local shop in a somewhat large market.
I'd never in a million years buy a new guitar with dings scrapes scratches and dents when I could buy a brand new sparkly clean one! I don't understand. But I get it that some people like that stuff! Plus, there's 12,032 used Les Paul's for sale on reverb right now! The market seems a bit flooded so I'm not sure if these super pricey pieces will hold their value. As the boomers die off and dump their collections there won't be as many collectors.
The nights Fleetwood Mac played the 'Silverbell' teen club just outside Rochester Michigan, Peter played this guitar straight into a Twin. In the dressing room when he asked to play my Strat, and offered his Les Paul I found it to play like butter. The guitar was not nearly as beat up as this replica, but then in 68 or 69, Peter was taking better care. He was a quiet genius a massive talent, and a gentle man. That he was derailed by dalliance with drugs is an instructive tale for all. In the meantime, I'll beat up my own guitars. Sometimes they sound abused. Thanks for this Trogly, your playing is really getting better.
With it being a 2022, I cannot find a single feature on this guitar that justifies a $50k price tag. One is going for $85K on reverb. Gibson really takes advantage of their fans who will give them their money no matter what, and it's hard to blame Gibson for that.
Honestly, Gibson are 100% stuck in the past. There are sooo many quality of life modern features that they just don't have that guitars with half their price tags do.
I mean, this guitar was exclusively for the ridiculously wealthy to meet Kirk Hammett. No one who pays more than the average person's years wages for a guitar is paying for the guitar, they're paying for resale value, or in this case, the intangible (and therefore super expensive) value of meeting a cool guitar guy. But Gibson have absolutely lost their way. They're a lifestyle or fashion brand. Happens to a lot of formerly groundbreaking and popular brands. Supreme used to sell skater stuff, now they just put a logo on a brick and sell it for 500$. Which is kind of fitting considering about the most unique aspect of this guitar is the carved wood block it comes with.
If it's just a recreation, I don't see why it's so expensive. It wasn't owned by anyone. It's not old. It's just a regular Les Paul, someone beat the hell out of. It's awesome, and I love to have one for $1200. 😆
One of my favorite things about these demos is witnessing your progression as a guitar player, every demo you sound even better than the last and going back to watch some of your older videos it's night and day. Keep up the great work Trogly! 🤘🏼
It would have been cool if they included some photos of the original within the case candy so you can see to compare what they have aged on this guitar. I know there are plenty of pics online but just think it would be a nice addition. Especially for $50k
BIG thanks to that viewer for hooking you (and us) up! Also, let's dispel the myth that KH paid 2 mil for it. He didn't. More like 500K-700K. Neck PU sounds great! I'll throw a set of those in my '21 Standard Lemonburst when they're available
@@trueherofit3317 Yep! It was on "That Metal Show" with Kirk and Michael Schenker. I'd forgotten about that. I'm sure much of Kirk's $$$ is tied up in investments, so his actual cash is perhaps limited?
I'd be interested to know if the neck pickup has been wound with Heavy Formvar wire like the real thing. You'd like to think so in a $50000 guitar but who knows.
Saw the original guitar in Gary Moore’s hands several times but the first , in 1977 with Coliseum ll was a game changer for me, managed to sneak in to the sound check and hear him setup his tone.. wonderful.
Definitely not for me…. Don’t like this worn abused put together half*assed repaired type of replica guitars, don’t really care how limited it is. The only Les Paul limited edition I liked was the “Corvette”
Thanks to your fan and you for making this review/documentation happen! Even though it's ridiculous, it's still very cool to know what it's all about 🤘
50k. In my state the tax alone would buy a nice Standard. Then again I’m a player, and believe vaults are for items of historic value, guitars should be played. This relic thing was out of hand before they cost 50k. Thanks for the daily vid tho!
Those are the best Gibson made pick ups I’ve ever heard you play on the show in a Paul… I mean even on RUclips and I’ve watched a lot of your videos ,those sound killer😊
Thanks annonymus Trogly's viewer for lending your guitar to for Austin to make this amazing video!!! I had seen the ones Baxter and Jonathan shared last week (Bax's playing is great), but taking it apart and going through the specs is wonderful.
This was a fantastic episode. Thank you! I've been a big Gary Moore fan for years and count myself lucky to have seen him live. By the way, your guitar playing has improved a lot since the start of your channel.
That thing sounds absolutely fantastic! It just had that "thing" from the very first chord you played in the demo. I hope whatever mojo they put into the Greeny replica's electronics makes it into more attainable models!
There's no electronic mojo. Just some good pickups made to the older specs and some standard pots and wire. The only mojo is in the player and how good the guitar feels to that player.
I have studied pick up manufacturer for years and I believe the magnets were A2 I made some A2 pickups for a 58 replica a friend built and I dropped my a2 pickups into that guitar with 50's wiring and sozo caps and it sounds every bit as good as an old Gibson hmmm I wonder if Gibson waxed the pickups
I agree those pickups sound bloody excellent! A set of great pickups can make a huge difference in your tone and playing. I've always loved my Gibson custombuckers and Wolfetone "legends" pickups. A good guitar and some good pickups and you got your own personal Mojo!
So from me to your friend that brought this so you could document it thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart thank you This means the world to me thank you very much and thank you trogly for making this possible
The modem trend of making scratched up, worn out looking, new guitars, is beyond me. I am grateful for that too, as they cost a premium. My boat is run down. Can I call it relic'd and ask 10x more than a pristine one? I don't think that will work.
I liked the way Gibson got the sharp points of the inlays right!! $50k.. mmm no..but to some 50 or so people it was a huge YES!! So many details ..it was awesome to see!! Thanks Trogs!! Along with the person who supplied it for the demo!!
Kirk should have signed or initialed in permanent marker the back of every headstock for the price, history, and legacy of every musician/band that guitar was used in, including Kirk/Metallica.
I knew Peter in his final years when he lived on Canvey Island. He would have been totally bemused by this. He just didnt "get" the whole hero-worship thing. He was the most "ordinary" cockney bloke you could ever meet. He was undoubtedly a gifted man...but he didnt have any idea WHY he was given that gift.
I used to wonder how the hell people would rub through the finish below the high E, Then I was playing my Les Paul, and noticed I do exactly what Trog said people to, with my little finger, lol. Borderline impossible to stop doing it as well.
I cannot express how much I despise this guitar run from Gibson. I’ve owned too many sub par Gibson’s over the years. This guitar is the epitome of Gibson overindulgence. Gibson has surely improved lately but is still waaaayyyyy overpriced for the quality. I’ve owned Japanese ESP Eclipse models and every single one of them has been noticeably better than my LP Standards and even my LP Customs. Same for my two Gibson Explorers in comparison to my ESP Japan Explorer body types. One is an EXP and the other was my first ESP Custom shop from ‘96, when they still made the Hetfield Explorer through the custom shop (I may be wrong but I think they’ve stopped making them because of the lawsuit). Back when I began playing at 14 yrs old I worshipped Gibson but reluctantly came to the conclusion that a lot of the Gibson price point is simply US labor costs as well as the famous Gibson name up charge. I just bought a USA ESP Viper and it blows away all of my Gibson’s, hands down. I find the same quality with my Japanese Ibanez’s and my older USA Jackson. Same for my USA Schecter. When a hunk of mahogany is the best thing included in a 50k guitar, that’s sad.
The same dude who pays 50k for this guitar is the same guy who returns a 2k guitar on reverb because there’s a small scratch not mentioned in the description
A fantastic review well done and and kudos to the real owner for this. Have always been a massive Peter Green and Garry More fan , the greeny really has been some guitar over the years. And love how it's being played now by kirk on the road that's just class tbh. Seeing metalica live and seeing greeny being played is a must ,good job I like metalica. The job they have done on this is exceptional and the pickups sound incredible.
It's crazy because Gary pay guitar around 150$ to Peter. He actually sold his main gutar SG for that Greeny, and later he sold that same guitar for over 800k - 1.2m. He doesn't bother collecting guitar. Every custom will do the job. And I absolutely agree with that. 1959 LP custom is enough 🙂
Great to see all the details of this thing. Just for fun I would really love to see a Vintage brand V100 PGM model get the Trogly treatment. They go for about £250 here and sound/play amazingly well. The story goes that Seth Lover gave Trevor Wilkinson some inside info on the PAF manufacturing process and the Vintage model uses that secret sauce. Who knows, but they sound great and have the out of phase magnet/wiring setup too (and the super important mismatched reflector knobs 😁)
I put a pair of those Wilkinson PAF pickups in a cheap LP copy and I flipped the neck pickup magnet. It sounds great. I think I got the pickups for 20 pounds on ebay. Bargain.
“Hey, wow, nice guitar. I bet there’s a story behind it?” “Yeah, it’s actually brand new, but it’s been made to look old and beaten up. Cost me $50,000” “Oh..”
50000 $ for just a Les Paul... Sure it's a piece of music's history and very nice for the lucky owner. But this price is insane and indecent while so much people don't have enough money to just have a decent life include many musicians. Gibson and other brands are just overhype guitars ,
Sweet review, well done. Aged and relic'd rigs aren't my thing, but I really enjoyed seeing the attention to detail and appreciating the tremendous effort poured into this guitar. Great episode, Austin!
That looks incredibly close to the real thing! I hope they make a version like it but, I liked the way the guitar looked around the time when Peter sold it to Gary!
I just don’t understand why anyone would pay $50k for what appears to be a used guitar rather than just spend a few grand on one that you actually use and beat up.
Would love to see a comparison with the 2013 Gary Moore Les Paul Standard (Tribute/sort of Signature). Looks like this one but not relic’d, also with the switched around pickup and mismatched knobs.
I was chastised on RUclips by some guy because I said that this guitar is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. He gave me all this crap about how people can spend their money as they see fit. And although I do agree with his sentiment, I STILL feel this is INSANE!!! I bought my 1952 Goldtop for WAY less than this. You can buy an actual mid 50's P-90 Goldtop for less than this. Why if you have the money would you overpay for a REPLICA than actually making an investment and gettting the real deal. I will never understand this. IT is a cool guitar and maybe at 10k or 12k it my be reasonable but 50!? No way
Although aged guitars are really not my thing (and I have views about the corporate nature of the buyers event and how that sits with the so-called rock n roll ethos!), you have to admire the craftsmanship and painstaking skill and attention to detail that went into this - it truly is a work of art for those that would appreciate it. I have to also say a massive "thanks" to the owner and to Trogly for allowing this to be shown to us all and dissected in such a way - what a treat!! Thank you and good health to you both - from Ireland.
There is no way a guitar made today is worth $50,000.People have lost their minds and Gibson should be ridiculed for taking advantage of people who have lost said minds.
I hope you enjoyed seeing "Greeny." I've got another pricey surprise review episode coming in a few weeks!

YT has Gary playing his live cover of The Messiah Will Come on Greeny at Montreux in 1990, great performance, great guitar.
In you oppinion, does the sound of the reissue reminds anything of Greeny?
@@betotheguitar It's hard to say, Trogly isn't playing through Moore's rig and doesn't have his same touch.
Definitely not for me…. Don’t like this worn abused put together half*assed repaired type of replica guitars, don’t really care how limited it is.
The only Les Paul limited edition I liked was the “Corvette”
Fairly used 📍 fender vintera 70s telecaster deluxe available
The genius of Tom Murphy- the work on making that guitar appear the way it does is remarkable.
I was lucky to purchase a proper Murphy R9 from a collector last year, his work really is something else.
if this was just a regular les paul in this condition listed on reverb the offers would be real low
@@chrisclassical7 I love me some reliced Strats and Teles, but doing it to a beautiful flame maple top on a Les Paul just seems wrong to me. JMO.
This more like the genius of Gibson. CRAZY profit margins on parting fools with their money.
I really don‘t get why someone wants to buy or even collect or even pay that amount of money for a Les Paul. They are just boring as poop
Congratulations ☝️☝️☝️I have a package for you 🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁.
Many thanks to the owner for sharing his beautiful piece of Gibson history 👏
THANK YOU TROGLY VIEWER FOR LETTING TROGLY DOCUMENT THIS FOR THE REST OF US. MUCH APPRECIATED!
$$50K? No way!
Well they absolutely nailed the tone. Early Peter Green for days.
No guitar made in the year of 2022 is worth 50K period, no matter the guitar with whatever musician it is based upon.
Big shout out and thanks to the fan who hand delivered this to Trogly!
Thanks annonymus Trogly's viewer for lending your guitar to for Austin to make this amazing video!!!
I had seen the ones Baxter and Jonathan shared last week (Bax's playing is great), but taking it apart and going through the specs is wonderful.
Wow the wood under the finish wear looks perfectly brand new from the factory. Amazing.
I mean that's cause it is...
Masive respect to the viewer for bring the guitar 💪
This was a fantastic episode. Thank you! I've been a big Gary Moore fan for years and count myself lucky to have seen him live. By the way, your guitar playing has improved a lot since the start of your channel.
Can't believe people actually pay big money for that junk
Congratulations ☝️☝️☝️I have a package for you 🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁.
Adam Jones from Tool was seen playing a prototype at one of the recent Tool concerts a few mpnths back
How awesome! What a killer viewer to let you document this beast 😂
That might be the best sounding guitar you’ve had on the program!?!?! Not to mention that it looks dope!
I think the Les Paul Standard 82 he had last night sounded better.
I mean it sounds like a guitar
I agree those pickups sound bloody excellent! A set of great pickups can make a huge difference in your tone and playing. I've always loved my Gibson custombuckers and Wolfetone "legends" pickups. A good guitar and some good pickups and you got your own personal Mojo!
Glenn Fricker would like a word with you, lol. (I agree that pickups do, in fact, matter.)
So from me to your friend that brought this so you could document it thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart thank you This means the world to me thank you very much and thank you trogly for making this possible
$50K ? Wow ...I bought a Vintage Lemon Drop For £375 Years Ago....And I Am Still Living The Dream Albeit On a Smaller Budget.
The modem trend of making scratched up, worn out looking, new guitars, is beyond me. I am grateful for that too, as they cost a premium. My boat is run down. Can I call it relic'd and ask 10x more than a pristine one? I don't think that will work.
I’d buy that for a dollar. Said the fool on tv in the movie RoboCop.
I liked the way Gibson got the sharp points of the inlays right!! $50k.. mmm no..but to some 50 or so people it was a huge YES!! So many details ..it was awesome to see!! Thanks Trogs!! Along with the person who supplied it for the demo!!
Whoever brought this in for Trogly to deconstruct and review is a legend.
Should do a comparison with the CC1 greeny, it will be interesting.
What an absolutely hilarious waste of money this guitar is.
Amazing! What an awesome guitar and amazing hookup! 🤘🙏🤗
Maybe they actually found the Beano Burst and that’s next years 50k replica 😮
Was hoping to hear “Oh Well” played on this beast. Love the tones. If they do a “players grade” version, or maybe just sell the pickup alone, I’m in.
I was thinking Rattlesnake Shake?
Dang those pickups sound amazing!
Aren't they acually Custombucker Alnico III?
The same dude who pays 50k for this guitar is the same guy who returns a 2k guitar on reverb because there’s a small scratch not mentioned in the description
Can only imagine if JC and/or Cesar were watching this and started screaming at the screen around the 10.45 mark haha
That was awesome and those pickups sound fantastic - thanks again Trogly
A fantastic review well done and and kudos to the real owner for this.
Have always been a massive Peter Green and Garry More fan , the greeny really has been some guitar over the years. And love how it's being played now by kirk on the road that's just class tbh.
Seeing metalica live and seeing greeny being played is a must ,good job I like metalica.
The job they have done on this is exceptional and the pickups sound incredible.
You say you're a massive "Garry More" fan, but don't know the right way to spell his name?
I don’t get it. But hey, it’s your money.
If you want to see Gary Moore with his Greenie at one of his best ever shows look up Gary Moore and B.B. King duet. Totally awesome
Bargain.
awesome stuff! at the end of the day, I don't see no difference from a normal modern historic reissue. I don't see the 50K value at all
$50,000 !! Gibson is laughing all the way to the bank !! No way !!! That's worth $50,000
Congratulations ☝️☝️☝️I have a package for you 🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁.
How about some Blues licks as Peter and Gary where great blues players!!!!
I hope 1983 Kirk Hammett is cringing at the 2022 Kirk for being a part of this whole gross thing
$50k for a guitar. Unreal.
“Hey, wow, nice guitar. I bet there’s a story behind it?”
“Yeah, it’s actually brand new, but it’s been made to look old and beaten up. Cost me $50,000”
“Oh..”
Make a 50K guitar sound like a 100 dollars! Hold my beer!
Z is for late. Respect for this instrument.
Good evening Sgt.
"when you're paying 50 thousand for a guitar you really need".... your head examined, is the phrase you were looking for.
One is currently on Reverb for $85,000. That seems like a good return on $50,000 to me.
Black dog is played in the middle position not on the neck. You need to use the middle to get the nasal mid Honk
26:49 Wrong era of Fleetwood Mac for that guitar
Next one should be Jimmy Page's Les Paul #1.
That neck pup rolloff was world class
I personally don’t like aging on my own guitars but totally get it here. Beautiful.
50000 $ for just a Les Paul... Sure it's a piece of music's history and very nice for the lucky owner. But this price is insane and indecent while so much people don't have enough money to just have a decent life include many musicians. Gibson and other brands are just overhype guitars ,
Congratulations ☝️☝️☝️I have a package for you 🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁.
Sweet review, well done. Aged and relic'd rigs aren't my thing, but I really enjoyed seeing the attention to detail and appreciating the tremendous effort poured into this guitar. Great episode, Austin!
Wow! That sounds great! Unfortunately I would be willing to "correct" the neck pickup orientation to ease my neurosis.
That looks incredibly close to the real thing! I hope they make a version like it but, I liked the way the guitar looked around the time when Peter sold it to Gary!
What a great video. I still don't think any guitar in the world is worth that kind of money, but it definitely sounded amazing.
Maybe not a brand new guitar...
how
You made the podium for today and earned a Bronze Medal.
yay
I just don’t understand why anyone would pay $50k for what appears to be a used guitar rather than just spend a few grand on one that you actually use and beat up.
Nailed the sound, looks phenomenal to be honest, and greeny is my favourite les paul, but 50k 😮 no brand new guitar is worth 50k.
Totally missed the chance to play Oh Well, why?
Was waiting for it too!
@@nbenning25 literally that's the song that first comes to mind when I think of it. That 1969 BBC performance is unbelievable
Was waiting eagerly for this to happen!
Oh my dude, that is by far the best sounding guitar you have ever reviewed. Nice Am I Evil reference.
Would love to see a comparison with the 2013 Gary Moore Les Paul Standard (Tribute/sort of Signature). Looks like this one but not relic’d, also with the switched around pickup and mismatched knobs.
✌️
Peace Peace Hector

No way
Love the pickups, I can see grabbing those when available. Not going to invest in the whole guitar. Great playing Austin.
Second that, the minute they become available I'm getting them
$50 thousand for a worn out guitar??? I would just make my own out of a Chibson.
Fairly used 📍 fender vintera 70s telecaster deluxe available
Sorry Trog. YuKKK!
Hello 👋
Randy in the house
Although aged guitars are really not my thing (and I have views about the corporate nature of the buyers event and how that sits with the so-called rock n roll ethos!), you have to admire the craftsmanship and painstaking skill and attention to detail that went into this - it truly is a work of art for those that would appreciate it. I have to also say a massive "thanks" to the owner and to Trogly for allowing this to be shown to us all and dissected in such a way - what a treat!! Thank you and good health to you both - from Ireland.
I don’t think I could ever bring myself to spend 50k on any guitar signature/custom shop or not.
There is no way a guitar made today is worth $50,000.People have lost their minds and Gibson should be ridiculed for taking advantage of people who have lost said minds.
