@@ReturnoftheMaRc The 845 wasn't a local maximum though. The 855 was better than it. The 805 and the 865 were both better than the chips that came after them.
Although sd870 doesn't have the best gpu and cpu, but it's performance is quite stable and colder than the other chip. More heat, more battery consumption.
Good start. It would be interesting to see a longer video. If we left the phones running for another 5 minutes, how bad does it get? As it currently stands, even though the SD 8 Gen 1 throttles to 80%, it's average frame rate of 266 is still quite a bit better than either the 888 or the 870. Another aspect to throttling is the cooling situation in each phone. So YMMV, depending on which flagship you get this year.
Hello mate, i might do a longer one. I am also considering doing two phones with the same chip. See if design and build of a phone has a difference in terms of cooling or overheating.
What phone do you use, it seems recently phones with the SD870 are going up in price l, they had a sale for a month but the went up like crazy. The 8 gen 1 that's not capped drops below 50% in 5 mins. The best gaming chip of 2022 is still the 870, stable and fast also crazy cheap as I got a poco f3 8/256 with Aoled display and redmi buds 3 for £194. The best chips are the 870 and the Mt dimensity 9000 but most games are optimised for the SD so around the same or MT a little better for gaming needs. SD is moving back to itsbbirnaknmanufacturijg and away from Samsung as sumsubg rely messed up the 888 and 8 gen 2 4nm So maybe by the end of 2022 or start of 2023 we will see some new SD chips that won't melt and throttle, u pan to change my phone in 1 or 2 years in sure its future proof for 2 year (2 year warrantee in the UK) and I will get a nice flagship killer with a stable flagship SD or maybe mediatek will have taken this mess to outperform SD l, optimizer for games and bring cheaper cjiso to the market.
At first i was disappointed on poco for not using the latest sd888(latest at that time) for the F3 ,but turns out it's actually the right soc for it to be a worthy successor of the mighty PocophoneF1
That's a very interesting comparison I was looking for, however I think 5 minutes it's still too short to see the real power consumption, battery life and heating/throttling How about running the same test for 20 or 30' as well? I bet we'll be seeing even more interesting results and I hope Geeky Stuff will do it 🙂
This is misleading. My SD855+ gets 245GIPs with 100 threads and 190GIPs with 20 threads. SD870 will surely be better. This means some cpus achieve top performance with many threads (e.g. 100), while others only with 20. The test program doesn't know what max value with appear for each cpu, so graph will scale on the fly to show max (e.g. 200Gips) as 100%. In video, SD870 with 20 threads will run like 70% performance, of course it will run cool. Try with 100 threads and see. Ironic how SD8 Gen 1 has minimum value 208Gips and is considered a bad cpu, while SD870 doesn't even reach that value, and is considered very good.
So apparently Samsung is to blame as they did the fab for tensor, sd888 and 8G1. This was not an issue when TSMC did other SD fabs. Apple is also using them exclusively.
@@rrageneral1499 this test usually takes the CPU to 100% usage with threads, and he did it for only 5 Minutes instead of 30. The threads should be set to 100, not 20.
On many phones the 8 gen 1 throttles to 50/60 after 10 mins like the F4gt the motorolla with the SD 8 gen 1 does not throttle so bad but on 3d benchmarks the phones that thorrled badly have a good GPU score and the ones that did not throttle so badly have a realy low GPU score so something fishy is going on. I still think the SD870 is the best current chipset that can handle most things without becoming a toaster and draining your battery. If snapdragon can make a good stable and affordable chip then it would be great but I think the failure of the 888 and 8 gen 1 has left alot of space for mediate to potentially take over the affordable gaming market. SD8 gen 1 is just too hot to cool. I'm so happy I got a poco F3 with the 870 a good screen, batter, ram 8/256 for 194 pound from the mi store with a pair of redmi buds 3 and they are actually pretty decent. Yes, in terms of CPU there wasn't really any update at all for all the snapdragon chips after 865. They only updated the graphics and AI performance. The CPU part is just overclocked 865 in the new ones, that's why there's much more heat going on for snapdragon new chips.
