Was at a comic con one year and a guy was dressed as this Joker and even had a gang and even played this song when he came in. It was freaking awesome.

A subtle thing that separates Nicholson from the later live action jokers. I have an easy time believing he’s enjoying every second of it. Plus he got the most laughs out of me which considering I pride myself on my moments of humorlessness says something.
Hmm. You know, I do believe you're right. Ledger will kill you to prove a point or shake everybody up or just for the hell of it. Phoenix will kill you because you crossed him in some way. But Nicholson will kill you just because it's funny.
I’d say this was a great performance by Jack Nicholson, but I’m not convinced he’s actually acting.
*Interesting fact:* The painting that the Joker kept Bob from vandalizing is called the Figure With Meat, by Francis Bacon. It is also in the permanent collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Here's hoping to god that Just Stop Oil doesn't VANDALIZE that painting after what they did to Van Gogh's Sunflowers, fucking dickheads...

Its convenient that this is the only art that Bob (or any goon) tries to destroy with a knife rather than with paint. If he used paint he may have accidentally spilled it in the painting when Joker tried to stop him.

YES!!!!! 1000% THIS!!!! How in the blue hell did that brush have that much paint on it, and why isn’t it being sold on daytime infomercials as The Wonder Brush? I mean, all those times in my childhood when the teacher had us paint, and all you felt was the constant dipping of the brush. I felt like my uncle molesting my brother doing that.

That actually works out considering Bruce was a child 20+ years ago when Joker killed his parents. He’d have been in his 30’s or early twenties in that alley.

The boombox model is Unisef SZ-5000. It's very similar to the Crown SZ 5100.
It made Lawrence smile too, they look he and the other henchmen give each other when he turns on the boombox would be so wholesome, if they hadn't just gassed and murdered a buncha people
I love how happy the henchmen are from getting paid to be hardcore gangster enforcers to getting paid to vandalize and party. They're thinking, "We have the best Job in the world!"

Which is another artwork I could see the Joker liking enough to leave unvandalized.
Nicholson's Joker is imo the best live action portrayal of the character, because it's fun.
Fun, fantastic, and still psychotic. I love thinking about the fact that Joker murdered hundreds of people (presumably the entire museum) so that he could wreck part of that museum for less than a minute and then have 'dinner' with a woman in a newly made crypt. All of that nonsensical and delightful stuff because he wanted to set an atmosphere and be silly.

Future takes on the characters delved into the crazed killer leaving the clown and showman behind, Nicholson's take is like the most complete take on the character in my opinion

something I noticed about this scene that I really like is the way the Joker vandalizes stuff compared to the goons, he does things in a particular way for comedic effect, when he knocks a statue he casually does it while walking past or imitates it and then makes it look like he unintentionally knocks it, and when he paints over the painings, he doesn't just throw paint on it or print his hand over it, he writes something on the painting with a wall, meanwhile the goons (with the exception of the guy who painted the Joker on that statue) just throw and spray paint everywhere.
Thats very observant, I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it . Joker told Alicia he was going to improve the paintings .As the worlds first fully functional homicidal artist maybe he takes his times to interpret the art then create , where as the goon just splashes paint .Thanks for sharing . Ps .If you keep an eye on the Rembrandt portrait hand prints appear disappear reappear disappear again ..

It's obvious they were fake, everybody knows it. Doesn't mean it's less hurtful to see. When they kill pets in movies I know it's fake but it's still sad, this is the same.
I love francis bacon! Dark but beautiful. As for the other paintings, I could care less. They are great and all, but they just paintings. In time they will be destroyed by the elements or us. So whatever. Life is too damn short to worry about paintings. I got better stuff to worry about.

@@SSKMusicBeats I wouldn't say that, but it's cos it had been used several times, plus it's the nature of the beast I'm afraid, specially when it comes to buying 7 inch single vinyls that have been used. I'm planning on grabbing the entire Batman soundtrack done by Prince sometime in the future since that has Partyman and Trust and Batdance on it.
I have the cassette tape from the Soundtrack by Prince and still in great condition.

Jack deserves all the praise he gets for this performance and more, but it also must be said that EVERY Joker Goon actor brought their A1 Nutgame to this and every moment they got throughout the film. Truly no small parts, even and especially while working in the orbit of the biggest movie star ever.

1989 Batman will always be my favorite. The others might be better all around movies, but as a comic book story visually, and with the soundtrack by the legends Prince and Danny Elfman, this one is so unique dark and amazing. Gotham city was so surreal. It was also the one I watched the most as a kid and I'm a huge Prince fan so I'm biased

Back in 2005, I was a college senior. Five days before graduation, when all the other students have gone home, my school hosted a senior week, where all the seniors moved into the now empty freshman dorm, and partied until graduation. The only catch is the entire senior class had to share the damage bill. The last night, my friends and I remembered this scene, and we all agreed to start on the top floor and paint the walls, kick stuff over, and do all other damages, since we all were going to have to pay for it anyway. We started singing “Partyman, partyman, rock the party like nobody can!” Great times.
