Better late than never! This movie definitely flew under the radar but I'm very happy that more and more people (such as yourself) are still finding out about it!
This movie was better than any Disney musical I seen (except for Encanto, of course). I also like how it was the mother who built Shion to watch her daughter and the boyfriend was on her side, it was so sweet
People seem to forget that Ichiro Okouchi was a cowriter of this movie and the whole thematic message about happiness is shown highly inspired by his previous works, mainly from his hit masterpiece Code Geass. If you seen CG you definitely can see how it also goes over the idea of happiness through its verity of characters. The writing style of show dont tell and indirect execution of the themes is also similar to code geass.
Somehow I completely missed that Ichiro Okouchi was involved in this movie! I love Code Geass and it’s writing- and I understand even more now why the writing to this movie was so good!
Watched Sing a bit of Harmony today, and it was disappointing. It's almost good at some points but never go far enough with its story of themes. A bit too much melodrama, characters a bit too surface leveled, some unfunny jokes here and there... Also, the "villain" of the movie is 100% right, Shion is a reckless and dangerous rogue IA and putting her in a school for a field test is a crime. I felt reassured when she got put down, and horrified at the end of the movie, when she was free to roam the net. It's a sign of a bad script when the viewer feels the opposite of whatever emotion they're supposed to feel at any given scene.
I do think it would have benefitted from being an anime series (like you wished). Watch the first 20 minutes and now imagine those would have had 2-3 episodes dedicated to them instead (40-60 minutes). More setup, making clear that satomi is a loner (which the movie does not do a good job at), giving us a little more time to get to know the rest of the characters. Also even at just 11-12 eps it would have had room for a few more songs :) I do agree with your score though, shy of a perfect 10. I want more Shion.
Maybe if we all scream loud enough, we can get a full Sing a Bit of Harmony series. ;) And glad you liked/agreed with my review! It's been a while so I feel like I need to go back and rewatch this movie now that it's on Crunchyroll. Experience all the feels of this movie again, (And I think we can all agree with your last sentiment- we all want more Shion)

This movie is inspired by system shock, robot, and detorit become human game but the ai shion is what ❤❤humans want truly she was created when toma meddling with the ai touma gave to satomi but 😊ai shion she is a beauty and a goddess completely showing what happiness truly is 💖 really this movie is a masterpiece in every way showing ai becoming human and make satomi happy on a mission to show ai can evolve and become human and her cyberspace is so beautiful and great.It shows both happiness and human fears but in the end happiness wins and she is now the ai of whole world 🌎 protecting the world and helping people moving forward a masterpiece.😭😭😭😭😭🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
This video was pretty good my man but I do have a bit of constructive criticism for you, keep ind mind this is only my opinion but you are speaking extremely fast, speaking fast is a good thing but you should maybe tone it down a notch or two. And you should change the media you show a lot more often sitting on the same still image for 2 minutes with only a slight zoom out is a bit stale.
Thank you for the advice! I definitely have a problem with talking too fast sometimes. I thought I got better at it in my videos but guess it’s still a problem sometimes haha. And I definitely agree with you on the changing of the media! In my usual videos I do typically have a much better range of different media clips and pictures. I just have not had a lot of free time recently and wanted to get this video out since I had the script finished and audio recorded for like a month before I even got the time to begin editing. So that’s why I mostly just did still images for this review video. Thank you again for advice and I’m glad you enjoyed the video!!
