Love the design !!.I seriously miss conventional headlamp design, I don't where the Indian Automakers got the idea of making DRLs and Headlamps in place of Fog Lamps a new standard. It's okay with some SUVs, but for all of them is absurd.
Indian consumers don't go for logic anymore. -DRLs were introduced and mandated in 1977 in Sweden and soon adopted by other northern latitude countries as the daytime visibilty during winter months was too low. Apart from a few Himalayan snowy regions, the DRLs don't serve any practical purpose. -White headlamps were made trendy by Luxurious brands. White lights have less range and cause visibility issues during rain and foggy weather conditions. white/blue lights dissipate more due to shorter wavelength. For the same reason, red light for hazard signal/brake lights etc. is used due to longer wavelength, orage for indicators and yellow for lights and foglamps is recommended -Fog lamps with white light is sheer stupidity as they defeat the very purpose of fog lamps -Lastly sunroof in hot and humid Indian weather conditions is absurd (maybe around hilly regions, it is fun to have) The list of such wasteful feature is now never ending and Indian consumers are even willing to pay extra for these features. While brands are enjoying these trends as they can juice up more from the same average product with smaller engines.
Ecosport and Duster in a way are very similar. These two were the segments first, then the segment leader for a long time and then the biggest looser simply because of the brand's inability or simply unwillingness to adapt to the Indian market
It's not inability to adapt Indian market. What feature u need more in ecosport 3 yrs back when it was discontinued. Figo was selling average, ecosport was selling very good, Ford endeavour had a cult following all products were good and under budget also. I was about to take 6speed automatic second top version in 12lakhs, it is governments hard rules for these foreign manufacturers which made them go. In a way good for Indian manufacturers Tata flourished. But don't say they didn't make changes to Indian market. Even their service was low cost and at best. Look at Toyota now even with best selling Innova and fortuner with best in class service there were talks they may exit India but may not happen.
