    As an Irish person living and working in the States this video makes me realise how expensive the US is for groceries...jasus, might go back home now......lol

    • @mcginnsteph
      @mcginnsteph  2 года назад +1

      Yeah I do think the grocery shopping prices over here are good! But with the cost of petrol and other things that are pricier here, it might all equal out after all 🤣🤣

    • @lagancider
      @lagancider 2 года назад

      Yes I agree, I visited a few weeks ago and rented a car, between the price of that and the petrol. WOW. love the video and I subscribed, best of luck in Ireland btw

      Also when I lived in the US I found the quality was much lower unless you went to a higher end store. Also a lot less variety.

      That's interesting! The US is huge so of course it varies, but I was surprised that Dublin is more expensive than where I live. Especially if you consider the lower incomes. :(

    Also, there’s plenty of alternative milks!! All sorts, almond, oat, cashew, soy etc.! They just aren’t usually refrigerated!

    Hey guys! Also added a couple last random thoughts in the description box lol I was trying not to make the video too long for what it is so there’s a couple things I didn’t mention in the video that I put there! (Random foods I miss) Also, sorry the footage isn’t a little bit better at the grocery store it’s just kind of awkward recording in public like that 🤣🤣 if you hate it, I can try to remake in the future 🤣❤️

    Dunne's reminded me a lot like a Super Target. Very clean and open; good signage. We shopped at the one in Kilkenny.

    Lived in Ireland for 6 years in early 90’s….found cost compleyely dependent on exchange rate…housing back then was way way cheaper….now rents/housing there seems equivalent to expensive coastal us cities….petrol always way more expensive…. As is booze outside if bars/pubs…. Take away beer vey expensive yet some wines and cognac etc cheaper…..

    • @mcginnsteph
      @mcginnsteph  2 года назад

      Yup! I always feel like the house prices are crazy compared to the US but that’s just the area we were in in the US (was more affordable); big cities, certain areas, California, they’re all very pricey too!

    Really cool video! The store is nicely stocked and it was interesting to see that most of the produce is packaged. I was wondering, do they have self checkout in Ireland? I feel like in the states I barely see cashiers anymore.

    • @mcginnsteph
      @mcginnsteph  2 года назад

      thanks! Yes they have self check out here as well! It’s funny actually I was just saying to my husband, for as many employees as there was in the store that day, when I got up to the cashiers there was only one checkout open because I do go to a cashier if I have a large amount in my cart otherwise I do love self check out!

    The thing about converting euro to dollar is the fact that both systems are decimal and people in Ireland don't shop with dollars so the conversion doesn't apply.

    • @mcginnsteph
      @mcginnsteph  Год назад

      I don’t know if I 100% follow what ya mean lol 😆 I was just giving an idea bc I can see my analytics and i know I have a decent chunk of people from the states that watch my vids, so I was saying for them. Also, the conversion mattered to us for a while when we had first moved over and my hubs periodically brought over money from the states (also I used my American credit card for a while and saw what I spent in dollars even though my total at the store was of course in euro)

    I'm new to your channel and would appreciate a bit of background information. Where in Ireland are you?? How long have you lived there?? Where in the US are you from??
    I don't know what your usual content is, but I would humbly suggest for future supermarket videos you pan the aisles more slowly, concentrate on shelf contents, selection, prices and in quality.
    BTW, don't be nervous about recording - or even live streaming - in supermarkets or malls. It is extremely rare for anyone to mind - and you have the right to do so in any case. 😊

      Hey there! 👋🏻…. I’ve mentioned in other vids but I’m from Michigan and have been here in Ireland for one year now ☘️☺️; I choose not to say exactly where I am in Ireland for internet safety reasons….. appreciate the feedback! I know I could’ve done a bit better, and I know I’m allowed to record and I shouldn’t care what other people think while doing so but sometimes it’s easier said than done 😂 and I’ve actually come along way, there would’ve been a point in time where I wouldn’t of dreamt of putting even a 30 second clip of myself talking on the Internet lol but thank you I will try to get better in the future because I agree, I wish I could’ve got a little bit better footage in the supermarket!
