Tammy, there's a couple things I want to tell you...first of all, I made this last night, and they are the most delicious biscuits I have ever made, but they crumbled a lot when handling. Maybe I didn't put in enough whipping cream in it? Also, yesterday when I first watched your video, I thought "I'm going to make these biscuits and I'm going to make fried chicken!" I haven't made fried chicken in years, so I went to the store and got the chicken (I already had the ingredients for the biscuits) and on the way home, I noticed a homeless man in his old vehicle with a very old, little dog. I talked to him and gave him money and went and bought the dog a bag of dog food. I reminded him that new food should be fed slowly or they will have loose bowels and he doesn't want that in his vehicle. I came home and made those delicious biscuits and fantastic fried chicken. It was the Lord's urging my heart to get to the store, knowing I would come across this man and his little dog. Tammy, you will be blessed because if you did not put up this video, I would not have gone to the store and ultimately helped both of them. I'm sure the Lord would have had someone else do it, but you and I received the blessing out of it and so did they.

For anyone who doesn’t have self rising flour:
    1) For every cup of self-rising flour called for in your recipe, measure flour carefully. You want 1 level cup (125 grams) all-purpose flour.
    2) Add 1½ teaspoons (6 grams) baking powder and ¼ teaspoon (1 gram) kosher salt.
    3) Whisk to combine.

I made these Biscuits this morning. It was the first time for me, as my spouse is the Head Chef and I am the Chief dishwasher. To my surprise, they were light and fluffy, oh my goodness they were good. I had gone out and found White Lily Flour at my local HEB Store, picked up the heavy whipping cream, and waited for a cold morning like today. Now for the pièces de résistance! My bride of 53+ years even sang the praises of my biscuits. She was most impressed. So Collard Valley Cooks - a BIG THANK YOU for the video.

It’s the best biscuit recipe ever, in my opinion, and so flaky that it melts in the mouth. Here in Texas, it has to be drowned in butter and cream gravy!

Works great for sweet and savory dishes. They come together easily with 2 ingredients that I always have on hand. I added 1/2 tsp of salt for every cup of self-rising flour...but that's my remix. I use the leftover cream to make sausage gravy. With some sweet tea...YUM!

@@zarabees2123 You can do 425 if your afraid they will burn, they will still be good, you just might not get as much crunch / browning on the outside.
450 is fine, but it also depends on your oven, if it uses coils to heat it up you should probably put your biscuits on the top rack or put another pan under them to protect the bottom from burning, if you got a oven with a fan, or a gas oven then you shouldn't have to worry about burning at high temps as long as you don't forget about them.

I lived in the South for the better part of sixteen years and I so miss the hospitality. It's one of the thing I brought back to my my mid-western city I grew up in. When guest come over ( or just drop by) the host just sets the table and lays out food. Don't you dare refuse! It's and insult, and in the long run, you're glad you shut up and ate. Southern hospitality is a legend that continues on to this day, and I practice it in my mid-western state ( the one with the huge Arch on the river front), and I'm know for it. As a result my friends have learned what hospitality means, and they know to shut up and sit down at the table when they come to visit me. You bring back so many memories (as well as cooking tips). So my grandma's been gone along time . I have tried over 20 years to get her cookin down . She never used recipes. She just got after it. We are from Texas and old fashioned ranch country style cookin. Her buttermilk biscuits was crispy outside and so sof inside with a little chew to them. Her eggs , I cant figure it out so light and fluffy . Now I got the chicken and dumplings down pat. Cause that was one of my all time favorites. And a pot of beans with hammock cookin all day with cornbread, got that, its a dieing art that I wish young women would have learned to carry on. It to me was the best thing ,, to come home from working hard all day to a country meal . She would get a whole chicken cut it all up and man better than KFC was so crispy, mine gets sawgy after sttin hers seemed to stay crunchy. And the leftovers, we would always make chicken salad sandwiches with it. So I'm looking tonight for her style cooking and these biscuits sure look like them how tall and the shape. She did always use cast iron to makes a big difference and over a flame.sorry for rambling.

I used just a little flour and some heavy whip cream, made just a few small biscuits yesterday. I baked them in my tiny cast iron frying pan. They are really good. I found out in October that I am a diabetic, so I can have just a small biscuit. I made tiny ones, but before I realized it, I had ate about 3 of them. LOL They are really good. I had never made biscuits and rolled them in my hands like you did, patted them with some more whip cream. Very good biscuits and so easy. I was wanting a biscuit so BAD yesterday. I love White Lily Flour, it is better than Pillsbury.

@@anniep1511 I'll give you the Google discription as I believe it is the best 😀
Bovril is the trademarked name of a thick and salty meat extract paste similar to a yeast extract, developed in the 1870s by John Lawson Johnston. It is sold in a distinctive bulbous jar. Bovril is owned and distributed by Unilever UK. Its appearance is similar to Marmite and Vegemite.
It has a similar taste to Worcestersauce (do you know it?)
We use it as 'n sandwich spread. Personally I love it on fresh bread with butter, mayonnaise and cheddar cheese. VERY rich and SOOO NOT healthy 🤦‍♀️but very lekker (tasty).

If I could give 1000 likes to your video I would. I have not been able to make homemade biscuits, ever! They always tasted like baking soda, or were hard. And the forming trick! Brilliant! No rolling pin needed, less clean up. I swear 2 ingredient biscuits for life. Only different thing I did was melt butter into my baking pan and dip the balls of dough in it while forming them. Helped keep my hands clean. Was enough biscuits for B and G for 5 people.

I love your channel and love your recipes! I've made several. For these biscuits, I melt a quarter cup of margarine in the microwave and add while mixing, and also stir in a quarter cup of bacon bits and a little shredded cheddar cheese while mixing.
So I end up with bacon cheddar butter biscuits and they're divine! You can bake a big batch of these and refrigerate what you don't eat fresh in an airtight plastic container and keep them in the fridge for up to 5 days, and reheat one or two in the microwave for a quick breakfast.

I made these biscuits today. They remind me of how my mother made biscuits back in the day. I never was able to duplicate her recipe or method. They never measured anything back then. After making these today I think I got it. Thanks again for sharing 😊❤

Try 2 1/2 cups self rising flour, 1 cup heavy whipping cream, 1 cup buttermilk, 1 tsp salt, and cook in cast iron skillet. The buttermilk gives it a slight tang and let the biscuits rise for 15 minutes before cooking. P.S. use 1/2 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp baking powder for extra fluffy biscuits.

These turned really good. I was surprised. I have self-rising flour and heavy whipping cream in the house. I will make these 2morrow. Thanks again. Also, Happy Thanksgiving week to you, family and all viewers! 🦃🦃🦃

You know what these would be good for? Strawberry shortcake! Just split em and cover them with strawberries and whipped cream. Oh, yes.

@@englishatheart That is the usual, delicious way. I had a New England cookbook once where they used a biscuit-like thing for the cake part. I never had it, but it sounded good.

I worked at a restaurant and I remember one time we were comparing different types of biscuits and even though I am a big fan of buttermilk biscuits one of my coworkers used two ingredients the self rising flour and lard, they were pretty good.

I’m 79 years old so I remember when you used lard. I don’t know if there was Crisco then or not. And you can still buy Lard.

That’s how my mother made bisques with lard. They were delicious.

I decided to give this simple recipe a try. I watched the video once and then made them in an iron skillet. I also rolled a few in my hand and then cut the rest. They were perfect. Sooooo fluffy. But I think they need a little more salt. Still awesome with butter and jam.

My mama made homemade buttermilk biscuits same thing instead of using heavy whipping cream use very cold buttermilk she also would put some bakin powder in with her self-rising flour. It gives the self-rising flour of boost and will rise fast set them in a heated oven for 5 minutes then cut heat up 350 400 till golden brown on top and bottom sometimes you'll have to turn the broiler on and leave the bottom off to receive the Browning on top but man are they good put your piece of cold butter inside a hot biscuit and you've made my day
