Granny Karma, as a single dad, having raised 6 (now BIG, STRAPPING) boys-alone! I just had to steal your recipe and call it my own! When the boys come home on holiday's, they "sneak" the request of any "left-over" biscuits, could they get them "to take home"! I think they all know that there is no such "thing" as left-over biscuits! But, I have some "left-over"!🤭🤓 They're still trying to figure out the recipe-I'm not giving it up just yet! I had to 'fess up about confiscating it for my own. I tease them about "sneaking in" that secret ingredient called "love" into it. They don't know about that ingredient by "name" yet. They're still trying to figure out what it is! All I can do is smoker and chuckle and laugh about it!❤️😁 Wait until you hear about the 6 girls I, as well, raised alone. Their husbands are trying to muscle me for the recipe! Granny, you saved my bacon several times when it came to food issues, thank-you so much for being there at the time I was in a pinch. Doug🤓😁❤️👍🐻🧸

God Bless you and your family. If you would like to get some fast, easy and delicious recipes, I would like to send you some recipes. You have a perfect biscuit recipe. I would have to know about any food allergies that you or your wife might have and any food items that you may dislike. Let's say that you cook enough meat as well as vegetables and bread, of course, for 2 meals. 1 for that day and another for the freezer. Divide everything up and If you have a food saver or a seal a meal you could make seams to keep your food from being all mixed together. Or just use the bags to separate your vegetables and meat, for example. They also have rolls of the type that if you wanted to get a meal together quickly, all you would need is a Dutch oven or a big pot for boiling water. Choose what you want put portions of each dish, such as a vegetable in your pot of boiling water to heat it up, likely split you can put portions of what you want, meats and vegetables all in the same pot. I wouldn't put my bread in for the entire time.

Just a thot; for best rise with any biscuit dough DO NOT twist when cutting into the dough with a cutter or anything using as the twisting actually will seal the edges of the biscuit preventing an even better amazing rise while baking. Definitely will be trying out your great recipe, thanks!

    • @beckireissner132
      @beckireissner132 25 дней назад

I found if I make sure not to twist the cutter, but just push down the sides re not sealed and they rise higher. Been making for a long while and I agree the absolute best to make.

After watching this video, I immediately made a small batch of these biscuits. Wow. I had to brush the tops with butter and lightly brown them under the broiler, because they didn't brown in my oven, but they were the softest, most delicate biscuits I've ever eaten. Next time, I will add a bit of salt, but it's a relief to know I'll never need another biscuit recipe. Thank you! ❤

Let your name be synonymous with mercy and grace. Wrap yourself in my likeness. Pour out forgiveness, the way I have done for you.
I know what pain is like. I understand what it’s like to be rejected and misunderstood. But it’s this pain that breaks you open, so that you can receive the healing balm of my love. As my glory pours into your wounded soul, it expands, saturating every cell and memory. Soon, anger melts away and is replaced with compassion. If you want soft and fluffy biscuits please use a soft flour like White Lilly or King Arthur. I promise it will give you a more tender and fluffy biscuit. It's grown predominately in the south, that's why the south has the best biscuits. Most of us know the flour is the biscuits.,..
Edit: you only want to knead it enough to make a soft blob. As long as it's firm enough to spread the dough, mine is still just part the tacky stage. I learned this from a lady whose biscuits sold out every single day six days a week and she would cook over 600 biscuits a day

I've tried a 5 6 maybe 7 times in my life to make biscuits and they have never been good.. to my liking... my mom passed away april 30, and my children and I are now living in her house. She was an awesome cook, and even better biscuits maker, she would never let me use can or frozen biscuits if she was around.. I was making some can biscuits one day and she came into my kitchen and stopped me and asked what I was doing and I told her, she said make them homemade, and I told her that I couldn't, so she told me to move aside and she would make them, and I did and she cooked the whole breakfast, awwww memories and now I'm crying... anyhow, now living in her house I do not feel right about using can or frozen biscuits. So I am determined to learn to make them homemade. I have been researching for days now, trying to find the easiest way and least simple ingredients to make them as I am a beginner of course. I finally came over to RUclips just now and searched it and yours was the first video to pop up, I watched the whole thing and you have made me confident that I can and am going to do this. Hope they good, fingers crossed!! Thanks for the video. I am now going to subscribe for more video. Thanks!!!

This is the first thing Mom taught me to make. She called them angel biscuits.
She had a family of 7 to feed & not much money.
To make sure we all got the same amount she would roll the dough into a rectangle & cut it into square biscuits. They taste exactly like round ones. LoL
She did just like you & put them close together so they would rise up not out while they cooked.
You're right! The house smelled so good.
To this day (I'm 68) I make them the same.

My mom was raised thru the Depression in a family with, everyone reading this sit down, 14 kids, granma had lost 2 as infants. Mom told me all about the gov't giving them cheese and a kins od butter that had a capsule of yellow on top. They broke that over the butter and mixed it in, made it into a loaf again then put it in the root cellar. She also told me of Angel Biscuits. Her mom's angel biscuits were made with Ammonium Carbonate. She said the whole place smelled of ammonia which was why granma only made them in the spring & summer when she could open windows. The biscuits were so soft inside, but there was 1 rule to eating them. The gov't "butter" never got put on them, only butter from her churn. I guess granma was proud of her biscuits and didn't want lard on them!

Thank you for sharing your memory with us. I really loved Granny's sweet, and welcoming spirit. My sweet grandma left this world to go be with JESUS in 1988. She was Italian, I remember being at her house when I was a child. She would put some flour on the table, shape it like a mountain then make a valley on top of it and put some eggs into it and knead it into a ball. Then she would roll it, and roll it with her rolling pin until it formed into an extremely thin sheet. Finally she'd cut those sheets into long skinny strips and hang those strips onto pre-strung strings until they dried out. When they dried out she'd boil them, strain them and mix them into her Heavenly scented spaghetti sauce that was already simmering on the stove...Emm...Yum yum was the pasta dish that my grandma took all day to make. I'll promise you right now there aint no spaghetti sauce, on any shelf, of any store in the whole world, that hold a candle next to my grandma's spaghetti. Talk about good smelling kitchen...Emh...they should be able to put that scent into a can of air freshener.

I followed it to a T all beside for hand rollin mine, I’m sure it’s been noted before, but if it’s been awhile, for folks that hand roll them you’re gonna want to run them in the oven for 22-25 mins. This recipe gave me 9 pretty big biscuits that are absolutely delightful. Usually I make em with cold butter, not anymore. Oh and I made my own self rising flour, (1 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt per cup of flour.) so for folks like me that didn’t have any self rising flour around, this was very easy to mix, this recipe used 2 cups of AP flour, 3tsp baking powder and 1/2tsp salt… you will NOT be disappointed, bless your sweet soul Granny, much love and happy new year from this middle aged bachelor

Add some peppery sausage gravy to those biscuits and big cup of coffee. It almost like a slice of heaven. You spirit and story if you family made me feel like I was in the kitchen with you. It took me back to when my grandmother was alive many many moons ago but I remember her telling me stories when she was little while making biscuits for everyone breakfast at her house was always the biggest meal of the day it was like dinner and breakfast at the same time. Then the rest of the meal were from the leftovers meat went to the soup pot breads and biscuits was for sandwiches at lunch time and dinner was left over soup and the rest of the bread or biscuits to such up the last remain drop of her remarkable soup. Most broth she cooked the vegetables at meal time separately then the soup meat broth to the bowl and added so the left over vegetables. Nothing was every wasted it was always to recycled into so other great food. Miss her cooking still after fifty years but remember it like it was yesterday. I found that heating the heavy cream in the microwave before adding to the flour made the mixing so much easier. It melts the butter solids in the cream and the dough will at first seem too loose, but let it set for a minute and it firms up more. Then follow all of the GrannyKarma's directions.

Then you come along with so much personality and good energy you made me smile and want to make your biscuit recipe. Thank you for your recipe. I will be making biscuits today. Joe Clark: I think with everyone with stay at home orders for so long that many people have returned to home cooking and making things from scratch! My uncle said I was a good cook like my mother, but when the coronavirus hit and I was cooking all my meals at home I started trying more and more new recipes. It was fun and took away some of the boredom of my day.

Joe unfortunately you are absolutely correct...
People now don't even know what a Oven is, unless it has the the word "Microwave" in front! 🥺
      Home cooking is mostly
HEAT & EAT! Or Drive through
      Very unhealthy. 🙄

I never learned how to make good southern biscuits from my mama before she died when I was 11. I’m 60. I watched this video and made these. This is the first time I could make biscuits like she made. I was raised in the north after she died. Biscuits weren’t on the menu. Thank you! Now I have to see if you do ham hocks and beans!

I am referred to as a poor excuse for a "southerner" I am 60 and making biscuits is not a skill I have learned and I hate grits... My mother rarely made biscuits she bought the can biscuits and I hate a can biscuit more than I hate grits.

From one granny to another, I get a kick out of being one of your “Karma babies,” it feels like I am being included in your family! I made these biscuits this morning, and it’s the first time in my 72 years that I made homemade biscuits. They are delicious! My husband gobbled that first biscuit down and said it was delicious, with a big smile on his face! Thank you for sharing your grandmother’s recipe and your gusto for baking, I look forward to cooking with you again in the future, though we are lacto-vegetarians so we will see how many of your dishes we can actually use!

Me, too! Only we are having some biscuits & gravy today. I've got me some ground pork breakfast sausage to fry into large crumbles... golden brown & delicious. A minced yellow onion adds to the goodness. It goes in with the sausage once the crumbles form, & cooks until soft. I drain most of the lard, minus a tablespoon or two. Mix in a half a cup of all purpose flour & cook it until it starts to brown. Then I add milk as it bubbles & thickens. Add enough milk for the consistency of gravy that you like. A little salt, some fresh ground pepper... Boy HOWDY is it good! Wouldn't that be a blessing on these beautiful biscuits? YUM!

I got (happy) tears in my eyes thinking about my mom and grandmother doing exactly what you're doing. I can still see them standing at the counter rolling & cutting those little round clouds of heaven out. Then putting them in "gramps" - that's what they called the big iron skillet. No butter needed required but of course was always welcome! Thank you for reminding me of those memories.
