I love making biscuits! My grandma baked them every morning before school when I was a child, every time I make them I remember her love. I’ve never made them with water or on the stovetop, but that’s what I’m going to try tomorrow! I’m living in Florida now and I rarely make biscuits anymore because I don’t want to add heat to the already hot house, this is going to let me make them way more often! Thank you!

@@Toody49 Look above at my comment - I just made them and came out great but I did mine a little different. I didn’t see the part either about cutting them out but I just pulled loose the size that looked like hers and gently molded it by hand. I had 8 biscuits and they rose quite big as they were sitting un the pan with the lid on it. Once you see the water condensation forming is when they start to rise a little at a time and by the time they get flipped over they finish rising. Mine were big biscuits just like hers. They don’t need time to rest - just do like she was showing. I only had all purpose flour so I had to add 1 TBS baking power and 1 Teaspoon of salt and they did great!
Supper easy 1 lard stick or 1 cup if you have to scoop it 1 1/2 cup of self rising flour use a fork as Ms.Pam did blend fork and lard crisco is what my grandma use to use add about a 1/2 cup of buttermilk take the fork go around the whole bowl whip fork in and out of mix then take flour pour some on counter scrap mixture on counter top sprinkle some on top of dough pat it out take a glass small like coffee cup and cut biscuits out nice and perfect put oven on 400 degrees they cook fast so check 10 minutes it’s takes about 25-30 minutes
You could not have had better timing with this, as I just learned today that a family member who loves biscuits doesn't currently have oven access. Thank you for another great video Ms Pam and for teaching me yet another useful thing. 😊
Just moved into an apartment with no oven and was heartbroken about the recipes I’d have to miss out on this is a GREAT HELP!! new subscriber here can’t wait to see what other no oven needed recipes you share !! ❤
Miss Pam my mom taught me how to do these fifty-plus years ago. They were always easy. Sometimes for a late-night snack she would just use canned biscuits and do them in the skillet on the stovetop. But nothing was better than her homemade biscuits or hoecakes. She also made cornbread and even a single layer cake on the stove top. Sometimes you just didn't want to heat up the kitchen or you had dinner cooking in the oven a big roasting pan or such and you didn't have room to cook your breads or a desert. So you'd make your cornbread just like you regularly did and you would put it in your oiled cast iron skillet with the lid and slowly cook it until it was set on the top, you'd just touch it and if it was firm and didn't leave fingerprints then you take you a plate put it on top flip it over and then slide it back into the skillet on the uncooked side. And let it continue cooking and brown on that side and it will be done. She'd do a yellow layer cake the same way. But you had to be a bit more careful with the yellowcake you didn't want it to tear apart on you when you flipped it😂. So needless to say that turned into my duty as I got older. And still do it today, no need to heat up your kitchen.✌️
My grandmother also made biscuits on top of the stove if she only wanted to make just a few. I know I’m going to get a backlash on her terminology but she called them hoe cakes and so did my husband’s grandmother. I’m sure most people think this is wrong as hoe cakes are usually corn bread, but that’s what people in rural Sandhills of SC called biscuits cooked on top of the stove.
@@bgcyclist No backlash here my mom made them like she was making biscuits also. When I started looking for recipes they were all with cornmeal and I was like this isn't a hoe cake. She was from deep east Texas so maybe it's a regional thing. I have not been able to match hers they were different than biscuits and the flavor with the ribbon cane syrup was delicious.
@@charmaineprice8551 There's nothing special about the cornbread it's just any cornbread that you make even the package corn bread. What's different is cooking it on the stove top. You just need a heavy Skillet and a little oil on the bottom and you pull your cornbread and when the skillet is hot. Then you cook it at a slow temperature with the lid on, until the top of the cornbread is almost dry to the touch and doesn't stick to your fingers when you touch it almost bounces back. Then you put the plate on top of it flip it and slide it into the skillet on the opposite side and finish browning and then it's done. It doesn't take much time on the other side. I would just try jiffy mix cornbread in a 8 inch skillet to get the hang of it cuz it's easier to flip...✌🏻And Blessings
I never would have thought to try biscuits on the stove top. I love a nice, hot flaky biscuit!! I made some last night to have with the big pot of beef & barley soup I made. The ultimate comfort meal on a chilly day!
I’ve never seen a skillet like that when I first saw that I thought Pam had a plate on top of a skillet. Well, I learned something today so thank you, Pam. and what a wonderful alternative if you happen to be camping or if you live somewhere or you just don’t have access to an oven, This is such a simple technique that actually works
Making biscuits is truly a talent. It takes a very light hand. They rise because of the steam from the butter. As the water from the butter separates, it makes steam. Very inventive, Pam. This would only work with something that causes steam to develop. So I’m gonna keep it in my mind and see if I can translate it to something low-carb. Thank you very much.
@@CookingAtPamsPlaceu think I could set these down in the croc pot and cook them just as easy? I don’t have a good ceramic pan rn. I’ve always made fried biscuits, my nanny told me to put a spoonful of mayo in it so I still do that lol nd, slice em open with a fresh garden tomato 😋 nothing better, or even some pb 🤣 also great with beans if u don’t have cornbread 😉 I also got good at making drop biscuits but I’ve never found a flaky recipe to try and my mom never was taught so thank u so very much for this🥰 Flaky biscuits are my daughters favorite but I dread buying them for her so she usually settles for drop 😉 Also my gma makes what she called pasties, I never got the opportunity to try to make the dough with her but she used all purpose flour and ice water and u roll them out my mom says it’s the hardest thing ever to get right, but they’re flaky like when done. She packed them with hamburger slice bacon potatoes, peas carrots and onion. I always took mine without the last two 🤫 But if u know anything about making them or have heard of it I’d love to know, I’ve never met anyone else who has. If u don’t mind updating how much baking soda etc we would need to toss into all purpose flour if we had to use it into the recipe that would be great also🥰 Thanks so much for being a bright beautiful light✨🫂✨ I’m glad I found u 🫶~ @libraz83

I always disliked the phrase "that's just common sense!" that phrase is ALWAYS said as a put down. Or we say something is "underrated", congratulating ourselves for knowing something we think other people don't know. Have you heard of the Lucky 10000? EVERY DAY, 10000 people learn something that YOU already knew. Every day, we should strive to be a member of the Lucky 10000. Which means we've learned something that we didn't know before. @Toody49 No glitch it wasn't shown to us!
I’m making this, thanks Ms Pam
Thanks a lot. With the grocery stores jacking up the prices of canned biscuits to ridiculous rates, this is very, very appreciated.
your energy is so warm and welcoming
Just moved into an apartment with no oven and was heartbroken about the recipes I’d have to miss out on this is a GREAT HELP!! new subscriber here can’t wait to see what other no oven needed recipes you share !! ❤
Thank you and welcome!!
@mayasphere - If possible you could use a toaster oven. I have not turned my big stove oven on for over 10 years. Bless you.
Now this is old school. My dad would make the hoe cake for our snack in the late evening. We love it.
Can you give the recipe for the Corn bread. I will like to try it .
Sounds perfect! Be right there! 😉
Ive always thought but never tried lol now I'm convinced enough to go for it🤞🏽
I’ve never seen a skillet like that when I first saw that I thought Pam had a plate on top of a skillet. Well, I learned something today so thank you, Pam. and what a wonderful alternative if you happen to be camping or if you live somewhere or you just don’t have access to an oven, This is such a simple technique that actually works
Just made your biscuits! and they turned out great . Thanks for the well guided instructions. You make it easy for us ❤
She didn't say how much butter. How much did you use?
Making biscuits is truly a talent. It takes a very light hand. They rise because of the steam from the butter. As the water from the butter separates, it makes steam.
Very inventive, Pam. This would only work with something that causes steam to develop. So I’m gonna keep it in my mind and see if I can translate it to something low-carb. Thank you very much.
Yes! I’ve been working on more things too
@@CookingAtPamsPlaceu think I could set these down in the croc pot and cook them just as easy?
I love your suggestions for cooking and everything that goes with keeping your home together. Please don’t stop.
Definitely trying this! It can even come in handy after a storm when a stove top may be all we have and a hot biscuit is what you need.
I’m so happy I came across your video because I’ve been craving for homemade biscuits but my oven isn’t working and I didn’t want to take a chance on using my small countertop oven and ruin my biscuits. I was wondering if it was possible to cook these in a skillet on top of the stove but I wasn’t sure if it would turn out okay. Thank you so much Ms. Pam, you’re definitely a Godsend. I’m making these today! ❤🙏🏾
I can not express enough how appreciative I am for you sharing this. I knew there had to be a way to make biscuits without milk. I'm going to treat my wife with making these this weekend.
Show her this video and let her treat you, dude. Lol!
Very sweet of you.
Remember the Galloping Gourmet on TV years ago? He made you want to dive through the tv to get the food. She’s doing the same. ❤❤
@jerrilynbenson9024
I LOVED watching The Galloping Gourmet too, his adjectives describing his rich food so well you could taste them. Then he completely changed to a healthier way of eating:)) He’s now in his 90s!! ❤
I cannot wait to try this recipe. Looks amazing!

What a cool video. I've always made mine in the oven, but this will let you really keep a close eye on what's happening with your biscuits.
You are talking about your biscuits and smiling, and I’m smiling back! I absolutely love this! Had to share with my daughter and sister. I plan to make these, like tomorrow.
I can't wait for you to write your cook book. With All of your receipts on your channel.😊
This is one of the ways the older folk would make (whole cake) flour bread. Loved it!!
My favorite cooking show. I've learned so many tips from you to make my life easier and taste better.
Who would have thunk that you could make biscuits on the stove! Thank you, Miss Pam, for sharing your recipe!
Ms. Pam knows she took me all the way back when my momma used to cook homemade biscuits. Umm-umm good!
Thanks you, Miss Pam! They look delicious; i can't wait to try these oven-less biscuits. Your calm, melodic voice goes a long way in helping me make these stove top biscuits.
I appreciate your channel; I appreciate your methods and your recipes.
You are so welcome and thank you!
@@CookingAtPamsPlace Miss Pam, they look delicious. Can you do them on a gas stove since the bottom heating probably won't be the same as an electric coil. Thanks
Can't wait to try this. I might be able to finally make biscuits. Thank you Ms Pam.
Hope you enjoy
❤I had to come back and tell you I did these biscuits and OMG ! I cooked cheese eggs and put them on the biscuit then poured a little warm honey and butter over them! My family went crazy! They couldn’t belief I made them in a skillet! Thank You so much!😊
Wow that's sounds wonderful:)
Yummy!
Miss Pam you would make an awesome cooking teacher. Your calm manner and voice are easy to listen to. Love that you don't have background music as you talk.
Definitely trying these biscuits!
You're just naturally easy to watch. Being so knowledgeable is your sweet blessing, and with you sharing with all of us are some of the seeds you sew. Your gratefulness makes me so happy, b/c I've followed a few of many that have adopted a spirit of too much pride and arrogance. Please never let this media change who you are. 😊 Some of "need" this.

Must have been pure heaven growing up in your home Chef Pam... your children & grand children are very lucky indeed ❤❤❤
YOU'RE a 💎 in the kitchen & YOU keep teaching us new techniques ! 👏🏽

🥖🥐🍞 carrying the tradition of homemade bread is something my family enjoys making together. This can't always be done. After seeing the foods in your kitchen I believe it's ok to try new quick and easy goodies using everyday items from our pantry. I'm older and some of our favorites take time and some take extra work. You've given me a way to make goodies that I can adapt for our own favorites. I thank you for that. May God Bless our work and our families, Hugs
Hope you enjoy
So now I'm going to have to try these on my camp stove. I didn't even know this was possible! And honestly, I've already liked and saved this video and I haven't even finished watching it. I trust Miss Pam that much!
I love this! I don't bake biscuits in the warmer months because it's just too hot for the oven. Making them on stovetop will change weekend breakfasts around here. Thank you!
Biscuits and rice have been the bane of my existence. I learned a lot of new things about biscuits that will be quite helpful, even if I do decide to bake them in the oven. Thank you Ms Pam
Ms. Pam, you're gonna have my mom looking down from heavenly places at your stovetop biscuits! I've hand-kneaded and rolled out so many biscuits with butter flavored Crisco, buttermilk, and White Lily flour, I can make them in my sleep 💤. I cant wait to try this recipe! With all due respect to Moms, thank you sooo much Ms. Pam.🥰
She’s the Bob Ross of cooking. Incredible.
I’m from Louisiana and had a Cajun specialty meat market. I just found out about you about a week ago. You do a great job explaining things as you go. I don’t subscribe to many other sites. You are one of them now. I’m going to try the biscuits this weekend then a batch of boudin. Keep cooking and God bless you.

1. I didn't see the sugar being used in the mixture.
2. Can I use any non stick pan or is there a specific type?
3. The cooking period or time (duration) ?

I always disliked the phrase "that's just common sense!" that phrase is ALWAYS said as a put down. Or we say something is "underrated", congratulating ourselves for knowing something we think other people don't know.
Have you heard of the Lucky 10000? EVERY DAY, 10000 people learn something that YOU already knew. Every day, we should strive to be a member of the Lucky 10000. Which means we've learned something that we didn't know before.
