      Sorry I didn't have a video fabricating it I got transferred departments at work so I couldn't sneak in my camera the video the process and the reason it took so long was because I had to do it at lunch run from one Department from another took a little bit of time and then also I had promised my buddy that I would build him a tire spreader for his tire shop at home so I had to build that and unfortunately I couldn't get video of that otherwise that would have been really great

      Efurd Garage hey don't sweat it, it does look professional tho. I'll bet it is fun to drive around. First gear, that's a stick?. Had some fun over the weekend, set up a drag race between the wagon and a 94 caprice wagon... mine lost but not by much. It went pretty much side by side until 85 then the lt1 took it from there.

    • @EfurdGarage

      manual valve body th350. its a blast going to be tuff to sell but thats why im building it. cant win them all. but still you did good for awhile what was all done to the lt1. did you get a video of it?

    • @UsefulEntertainment
      @UsefulEntertainment 6 лет назад

      Efurd Garage oh ok. The lt1 was stock aside from a missing muffler. A few of my friends got a quick video of it but we ran a cross a mile long bridge, by the time the cars got to the end of the bridge where everybody was standing we had our speed down. So all you can see are the cars going side by side around 60 mph. I'm trying to get the video from them.

    So my grandpa explained cowl induction as "resonate supercharging "
    Is it more like a ram air system or like a huge cold air intake?

    • @EfurdGarage
      @EfurdGarage  Год назад

      well that was a saying many years ago but i think it was about equal to 1lb of boost in some test. of course the faster you go the more the air pressure. It is forcing some air in if sealed properly but the biggest benefit is the its air from outside and a good flow of air.

    looks cool but cowl induction needs to be closer to the windsheild it looks like it nearly 10 inches or more away wind tunnle test show 3 inches is the sweet spot to ram air into the engine compartment , at 10 inches you just have a vortexts and spinning air that stays there and the major amount of air uses that vortext as part of the arodynamics as shown in wind tunnel test. since its a one off design prehapse a seat of the pants improvment can be felt with extending the leading ridge with some stick on foam valance extension see if theres any diffrence?

    • @EfurdGarage
      @EfurdGarage  Год назад

      Well that sure which you saw, the black and green one was about 2" from the top of the scoop and mayeb 4"-5" at the bottom do to the cowl pan 81-87 style c10. the one i made the pan for in the video was a 80 so 73-80 style and it was about 1" from the top and 3" at the bottom.

    • @TurboTeaBagger
      @TurboTeaBagger Год назад

      @@EfurdGarage what matters most is where the windsheild vs the back edge of the scope if its just right the air will split some going over the widshield then some turning around and RAMING into the scope usally 3 inch from the scope to the windsheild but all the angles have to be considered

    • @ABs70nova
      @ABs70nova Год назад

      It's not a ram air. It does not make boost. It makes wind. It's like the test where they put like 3 leaf blowers literally hooked up directly to a cars intake/carb. Not boost. Not ram air. WIND

  • @ubot982
    @ubot982 5 лет назад +1

    so do you put drain holes in the bottom for rain water to escape or do you make it as air tight as possible?
    what do people with ram air do to stop water from getting into the intake?
    i'm still not sure what way i should go or if i should even try to change it at all .... :/

    • @EfurdGarage
      @EfurdGarage  5 лет назад +1

      Not air tight. This one is not driven in the rain it cant. But you could the the pontiac trans am route and have a drain hose attached to let water out. You want it air tight to the hood to draw all the fresh air you can. Ram air is a bit diffrent and dosnt get much water. My other truck with a sealed cowl was sealed diffent and i never got rain in it i drove it daily and did not have a drain. The water gor in the cowl before the scoop on that truck

      @@EfurdGarage thanks for the reply. i'll probably go with a cowl. the main reason i want to change it is to make room in the engine bay.
      95 zj 5.2 .. i want to add a york 210 for an air compressor and put a nice size air tank under the hood. also i want to add duel batteries. putting all that under the hood to leave room inside for tools and supplies ... kinda overland/work jeep .. :)
      if i just slap an air filter on top of the throttle body there isn't enough room (2 inches) so i would have to do something with the hood.

    • @EfurdGarage
      @EfurdGarage  5 лет назад +1

      @@ubot982 diffidently yea with the filter on the throttle body you will need that. you sure dont want to try to put a drop base air cleaner on there and a small filter to fit under the stock hood and choke out the engine

      830 MB if it is forward facing that would normally be known as ram air, where the scoop is open towards the front so air is "ramed" down into the scoop to the air Intake setup. But yes you can do something like this forward facing as long as you have an opening for air to come in

      @@EfurdGarage soooo to gain cold air in is that cuz your set up

    • @EfurdGarage
      @EfurdGarage  6 лет назад +1

      830 MB yes it is to gain cool fresh air from outside the engine compartment, instead of the hot air under the hood. So it keeps the hot air from getting to the filter so only the cool air is used
