It just looks like a “regular “ Barbie with somewhat better clothes on
Matel could have sold this doll for like 25 bucks, to compete with other good dolls, but no, scam collectors.
As I do appreciate her upgrade of the quality of mattel actually listening to us on the clothing , I do believe they spent more on the packaging and not enough on the fabrics, layering details and enough attention to detail based solely on the 100 bucks price tag ! Compared to Mga already giving this to us for a Meir 25-35 bucks ! And this is Mattel! Which is already a multimillion dollar company that has been around for 60 years ! Haven’t they learned by know what we want ?! I sure do miss my 90s type barbies so much and still have them ! Come on Barbie !! Come on !

I think Mattel could have sprung the extra 5 cents and put snaps on the jacket and pants.
All recent "collector"-esque Barbies feel like they are two times too expensive in terms of quality.
I'm not a Barbie collector, and at this rate I don't think I'll ever be.
Creatable world had the same quality as this, I'd say even more and they were under $50...
They were just 30
they're under 20 euros overhere, and for that money you get a doll, 3 pairs of shoes, lots of clothes and accessories, mattel did an exellent job with them
This made me think of Creatable World too and I got one recently for $10 on Amazon, decent clothes and working zippers, plus classic and petite Barbies can fit the clothing.
Prices for a lot of things are outrageous these days. I'm 47, and things that used to cost around $40 to $50 are now above $100. Toys, cosmetics, clothing, just a lot of things, are so much more expensive than they used to be. It feels like a bit of a scam to me. There's no way I'd pay $100 for that doll! I'm sure Barbie could be much better for less money. I just won't be convinced otherwise.

I am your age, but you just undermined your own argument by saying lots of things cost double now. That indicates overall inflation and not a specific problem with price-gouging at Mattel. Where I live in Canada, houses have quadrupled in the past 20 years: a middle-class house has gone from $300,000 to $1.2 million. Inflation happens for a variety of reasons, but I think people are just looking at something that is hard to afford and blaming only the manufacturer. I do agree that Rainbow High dolls, for example, offer better value than this Barbie, but the prices for those are going to creep up too. If you are interested in learning more about economics, I recommend the podcast Planet Money. I have listened to it for over 10 years and it has broadened my knowledge.

@@c.w.2000 Well, I mean, price gouging could be happening across corporations, at toy companies, for example, and at cosmetic companies, as well. Inflation isn't necessarily to blame. Maybe it's inflation, but it's hard to know for sure. I'm not directly accusing any company either, I'm just saying that, to me, higher prices seem like a bit of a scam, like I'm being reprogrammed to think that certain things are worth more money these days. When I was in high school, I used to think that being in my forties would be cool because I could go to the Lancôme counter and pay $45 for a really fancy face cream. Now that I'm in my forties, I find that most of the face creams offered by Lancôme are $100 at least, with a lot of them costing well over $100, and I have a hard time believing that inflation alone is to blame in that particular situation.
Barbie is like the lowest quality right now I remember when their dolls were the best

I got her a couple of weeks ago and I agree with you about the price. $60-$75 would have been more reasonable to me. Her hair you really have to work with it. Some of it was wavy some of it straight. I do love her face and it was basically perfect. The black faux leather jacket is very cool.. lovin' it! The box is amazing. I noticed the made2move body quality seemed better, too. The pink pantsuit is ok. Overall.. I like her but I'm not doing cartwheels over her. For a $100.. seems over priced. I doubt if I get the next one in the series.
I think, for me at least, the doll herself looks like any other basic made to move , just in nicer clothes. That sculpt and paint is cute on a playline doll, but seeing it on a $100 collector doll for adults doesn't really sell it for me. I can buy similarly made clothes on etsy and dress a doll i already own for a similar look for half that. like you said, somewhere around $60 might have been a more fair.
I don't understand how they gave us the creatable dolls that had good quality clothing and articulation that are play line for less
I feel the same way about BMR. She’s got the same level of quality MTM body from wave 1, at least. Those were 30 dollar dolls lmao

And the leather jacket and the dress are definitley nice but you can see they cut corners in places with barbie style. BMR was technically playline I think. At least that’s how I remember the commercials
@@Quietboywasted Exactly, Mattel is just duping customers into overpaying. The leather jacket looks cool but didn't even fit the doll right (must be why the pics don't even show her wearing it!). I've seen bmr dolls at Tuesday Morning for $16 now.
@@sarahhauck3415 Elvira was the first person to mention the jacket not fitting right/the pictures all being of her wearing it over the shoulder. I noticed after the initial magic wore off when I opened her. Lol.

I got mine and I was soooo disappointed. My favorite piece was the blue dress but the stitching on mine is all uneven, the pink suit is meh, and the white shirt looks so cheap, and don't get me started with the shoes, ugh. I was initially very excited for them to finally release a barbie style doll and getting a little annoyed at people criticizing the doll and comparing it to RH and OMG before it even came out, but I guess they were right. I shoved her to the side, couldn't stand it anymore. I wish I could return it. But at least the box is nice 😩💔
I agree, you can't expect every doll to be $30-$35 cuz a million dollar company can do it. Still I think this doll at $50 would be a fair price cuz it just a made to move body. It it was some specials skin or something to up the doll value then go ahead and charge more.
I don't get the point even buying this doll. The suit is cute, the blue dress is fine, the white under were thing is ungly and cheap. The doll community needs to spread the word of this 15-20 dollar doll being sold for 100. So sorry for you loss.😥
With MGA the detailing is nice but the actually quality craftsmanship no. I had a hacker literally rip apart at the stitching of the arm sleeve as soon as I started to put it on the doll. I’ve had buttons fall off the clothing. When I tried to put the socks on Amaya they ripped right up when trying to put the shoes on. Nice looks with details, but not quality MADE. There’s a difference people
@@itsjorgeroblox1779 that is so bad! I havent had any OMG! go wrong for me but I once got an LOL with the wrong clothes, one with horribly miss printed eyes, and don't get me started on the Chalet!
@@itsjorgeroblox1779 I agree. And I do find RH dolls styles quite repetitive. I would absolutey have no trouble paying $100 for this doll. But I was expecting higher quality and, sadly, I was disappointed. The blue dress is see-through and the stitching in, both, the dress and the suite is lacking, at least on mine. (I mean Elvira is also missing a button) For a $27 doll with two outfits I would expect a few issues, but NOT on a $100 doll. I have no problem throwing money at Mattel. I might even buy the next Barbie Style and give a second chance, cause I'm stubborn. I just want my money's worth!
$100 MTMs with decent clothing doesn't have to be the world we live in. Mattel will only keep charging this much if people are willing to pay it. I'm surprised to hear that her body quality is better. I would be willing to pay up to $20 for just the jacket+dress as fashion pack, but wouldn't pay $100 for everything. $60 makes a lot more sense.

It’s not the same plastic quality (as mentioned in the review) and not the same head. This is closed-mouth Millie collector (smaller size) sculpt. I think it is a bit overpriced, but let’s compare apples to apples. It’s better value than the Star Wars Barbies for the same price, although there was a licence fee Mattel would have had to pay for those. I think it’s more foolish to pay 3 times the amount for an older Silkstone on eBay, but people are doing that.
This looks to be marketed towards modern moms in their 30’s... which is me, but it’s still a no. My Barbies from the early 90’s are still better quality.

Even 75$ would be fine to me but 100$ that’s so much! I love her I just can’t afford that. Especially the scalper prices.
I’m pretty sure there will be more if she is out of stock where you live. It took them a long time to get through Gala’s Best Barbie last year, even though she “sold out” several times. In fact, she is still available at Amazon in Canada. So, there should be no need to pay scalpers at least.

@@life_gstwinkies Yes, I passed on Pink Collection (was $150 in Canada, now $130). I won’t consider this one unless it drops to $130, and even then might just wait for the next one in the series.

I like the style, and I love the concept and tbh for $100 I'm not mad at it. I agree that the dress should have had more layers and I would have loved if the pants had snaps and if they had better quality control. I agree that a $60-$75 price point would have been better.

Personally, I do not live in a world where a MTM Barbie is $100.00. Mattel is trying to see what we're willing to buy and pulling fast ones on us. AND her eye is weird.

For me personally though, the price is a little too high. I'm still in my first year of collecting dolls, so dropping 100$ on one doll when there are tons of past dolls out that I want to hunt down. I just can't justify it yet but If I was a couple years into doll collecting I definitely would have picked her up.
Her jacket and dress combo gave me buffy the vampire slayer prophecy girl vibes haha though that stiff jacket is a bummer!!!
Ok but is nobody gonna mention the huge not scale zipper that makes the jacket look stupid? I was so excited for this doll when it was announced. However the more reviews I see of it the more glad I am I haven't bought it. It's just not worth £120 in the UK.
I'm really into Barbie and imma pass on this one. It's £125 in the UK and no way on earth is it worth that. I'm really disappointed in Mattel for bringing this out in anything other than Playline, because that's where it should be.
I was gonna get her, bc we got to pick out stuff. An some of the Clothing pieces I really wanted. But I think if I hold off, I’ll be able to find the pices I really wanted on eBay or something like that. I just won’t pay $100 for her bc I just don’t think she’s wroth it. An with the new lines coming out this summer, I Definitely want to spend my money on those other dolls! But I really enjoy watching your videos, Especially for your honesty!
This is a 30 dollar doll at most, I would recommend skipping and going on ebay or esty or some other website and buying custom Barbie clothes. The doll herself by far is not interesting. Anyone could buy the blonde made to move, do her hair, and painting her eyes.

My @BarbieStyle had messed up lips.....the paint was chipped and she had shiny glue on its face and black paint flecks.....I returned it. My first collector attempt was a flop.
Sorry about that, I know it’s really disappointing. I have had lots of issues with quality control on Barbies since I started collecting at the end of last year. Sometimes I have ordered 3 of the same Barbie, and they all have the same issue, or something just as bad. However, sometimes the replacement is good. I have done many returns, but I usually buy online at Amazon or Walmart in Canada, and returns are free. It takes time, though for all those trips to the post office.

Yeah, I'm just not feeling this doll. I appreciate the packaging, but it's honestly a waste of money to my mind. And she's a basic Millie face doll on a MTM body and a boring hairstyle. The clothes are OK but I would've liked this set more if it were a two-doll set and each came wearing one of the outfits. I don't see the $100 value here.
I really like that doll! But I totally agree with you… I’d rather buy a MTM Barbie, switch heads for one that I like (because I think we’ve seen a lot of Millie faces, that sometimes it gets boring) and buy high quality clothes in Etsy.

is no one going to point out Mattel already does quality clothing for the CW line (real fabrics, functioning zippers and pockets) but for some reason charges a premium for Barbie? This is a 50 dollar doll. the sunglasses are a recast and the dress is exactly the same that comes with factory blythes. i want the jacket, but the rest of the bland vibes can kick rocks.
This is a made to move Barbie with two outfits and underwear. So if you workout how much that would cost, then the doll is not worth $100/ £125 or $150 Canadian. She is not heavier than a made to move in fact the same weight or lighter. (Just watched Timothy and he compared her and the purple top Barbie). I refuse to bash Mattel but this is a playline doll at a collector doll price, which is not good.

For $100.00 this doll its a big No! First her face looks like a Playline doll (not that it's bad but there's prettier Dolls with more life in their faces), I think her plus it's that She is an MTM doll, but the New LOOK Barbies are also MTM and somebody posted they are at a $20.00 price tag (somebody correct me if I'm wrong), theres Collectors complaining about the quality issues (bad face paint and broken hands) and also the clothes are very cheap made, can't believe Mattel have Cheaper lines with more quality on their clothes, even Mga haves more quality on their clothes just for $25.00, $100.00 for a Low Quality Doll (even if it's a collectible) it's greedy and abusive.
I think Grease the movie in a modern look nice rendition I want it.But I don't want to pay price tag.They need to add more for $100. Maybe nice pj's and another outfit tell the full story. In my opinion this doll is over priced. If she was 20-30 dollars I would actually really like this doll. But it is the price tag that gets me.this is a sad look into what Barbie has become over the years. Once a fashion icon, now pandering to younger and younger kids. Instead of appealing to their older fans who remember the quality Babies of the past while *also* making dolls for a 6-10 demographic, they make dolls for only babies, and when they try something new for anyone above the age of 5, it costs so much. Mattel knows collectors want something like this. They also know collectors will spend so much money on dolls. And while this doll is decent, to say the best, it is Mattel's competition who we must look at. LOL surprise! OMG! Are actually making far superior dolls for a small fraction of the cost. Sure OMGs dont have extra clothes like this doll but they do have swimsuits, jewelry, shoe boxes, garments bags themed to the character, special packaging, ect. Not just MGA have made good dolls. Fail Fix dolls are great, with nice detail, a fun makeover gimic, full articulation, ect. I think I big part of what draws me to these dolls is character. Fail Fix has tons of personality that you can tell by just looking! Omg has detailed clothes that carefully show all the girls's personality. This barbie has no theme, no personality, nothing. Can you tell me one thing about her,? Well, she seems kind of modern, with some feminine totches. But I really can't find anything that makes me gush over the doll, witch I normally do to practically every doll. And while the made to move body is nice, it isn't anything new. I like the idea of realistically dressed Barbies, but not for such an expensive price. If you gave me the choice of an OMG or this doll, free, even if the OMG was Alt Grrrrl I would still choose the OMG. The additional articulation is nice, but this girl has nothing on her far cheaper competition.
Also I kind of think the doll's hair looks like if Sherly Temple got ran over.

I think its better to swap a reg barbie with a mtm and order clothes from etsy or something if you’re after quality clothing. I love Barbie but this for a $100? Really? Mattel will give playline and signature dolls a pixelated faces and a well printed face on these? They are really making us that thirsty/ desperate for quality? Sad.
You can literally get the current wheelchair MTM close mouth Millie mould and just repaint the eyes to look off to the side.

I dont get the price point and how somehow Mattel's Dolls always happen to be so much more expensive than MGA, even when MGA's Quality is better. If we compare a Rainbow High doll to this, lets say, Kia Hart, they both come with a similar amount of pieces and similar clothing Quality, the RH doll has way more hair and inset eyes and it still manages to be a lot cheaper than this Barbie doll. Again, I dont know if MGA dolls are underpriced or Mattel is overpricing, or how MGA can afford that quality on a tighter price point, but Mattel needs to level up. Im so worried the new MH dolls will be either great quality and super expensive or low quality on an "average" price point.
MGA is freaking expensive, that's why they can never last that long, they're generous on American prices but triples or doubles the price in other countries, not to mention their love for faux leather makes me blergh, those things never last, I dont get their obsession with that fabric
Mattel can do this quality for under $50 they did it with Creatable World..

Like. I said on MyFroggyStuff's video, Mattel really can't give us good articulation & good clothing pieces without putting a $75+ price tag on it. At this point, it's gonna die out and pull another reboot on Barbie(Like Monster High level). Hopefully, this will end with the Monster High comeback. Or else MGA will take over. Though I am rooting for MGA

I do appreciate the quality that they are going for, but I think they are overpriced and can not bring myself to buy these as much as I really want to! I collect MTM's, but think I'll pass on these unfortunately. Agreed - Totally would collect them if they were 60.

its really pretty but you can just make your own clothes or buy something that looks the same as that but way cheaper and you can just buy a barbie doll to make it look the same as that one, so i would pass
Exploiting a targeted, niche marketplace with below-par product won't do their brand any favours. It's a shame 'cause I love Barbie and I'm so glad I purchased the majority of my collection when Mattel's fingers weren't quite as sticky for customers' money as it seems today.
I've been collecting Barbie for 30-years; one thing that's outstanding is how the Barbies - say, from the last five or seven years especially - are lower in quality components than the dolls we could purchase during earlier times.
The Silkstone Barbies for example - the hair was flawless, the clothes immaculate and I know we have to be aware of price point but ... there is a line and I think ... Mattel has scrubbed the line out in their haste to the maximum profit line. My BarbieStyle will be arriving any day, I hope she's okay.

The issue probably lies with the influential investors/stock holders. Mattel has two types of stocks - one where you don't have any influence on decisions and one where you do. Those who have the influential stocks decide on things like prices, quality and how much money they're supposed to be making.
MGA, on the other hand, is privately owned so they get to decide how much or little money they put into their toys and what they're going to earn.

Please LOL Dolls are $25 to $30 dollars without full articulation and people sing the praises of MGA all day long and I've seen people complain about the quality control for Rainbow High dolls, including mess up makeup and wonky eyes.
But yet Barbie isn’t selling and has the worst quality in terms of clothing and screening on any dolls out there right now. Yeah Rainbow High and LOL OMG may have defects at times but at least you can contact MGA and get a replacement. Also this doll truly sucks , lacks fashion sense (which miss Barbara is supposed to be about) , and she’s not worth $100 and you and I both know that. Stop making excuses for Mattel being lazy and shitty. You Mattel stans will justify bad quality and fight tooth and nail because you can’t admit that Barbara is going down hill

MTM Barbies are the reason I got back into collecting Barbies not LOL or Rainbow High. I hear people complain they want more collector items from Barbie and when they give it to you a hoard of people start complaining left and right. People voted for the accessories and clothing of these dolls and now they aren't buying it because it's too pricey. I doubt even at 75 people wouldn't buy it because of x number of complaints.
Well ... I don't think a hundred dollars is too bad. You're getting a doll and two outfits, so that seems to be the going rate for a Barbie giftset these days. Although MGA's LOL OMG and Rainbow High are a little better for cheaper. That said, I think the suit, dress, and sneakers are awful. The packaging is nice. The black jacket and doll are OK?? But the hair is way too short for me. Needless to say, I won't be getting this one.

The concept of this Barbie is cool. But I am sick and tired of the Millie face mold. It’s not glam, it’s boring and NOT Barbie. They should have allowed us to vote on the face molds as well. I would have chosen the 1959 face mold or the face mold from the 1967 TNT Barbie. Just anything but Millie. This is PASS for me
