i think she's called "fancy" cus of the overall fancier looks, more intricate details, design, fabrics. I think it's an answer to collectors not liking extra for being too streetwear and wants the glam 80s 90s era back on a playline scale.
Exactly. The Extra Fancy bow dress and teddy dress ones literally are wearing gowns with expensive fabrics rather than streetwear outfits with regular fabrics...it was pretty obvious lmao

I love Barbie. I love the Barbie Extra line. Don’t understand why they didn’t just give them MTM bodies, that would have totally justified their retail price even against RH, because those of us who like Barbie’s proportions aren’t going to give her up even as we collect RH.

I liked and had planned to get both of these dolls, I guess because they both scream Barbie, but the regular Extra doll seems to offer better stuff for less money.
Now all we need is Extra fashion packs and a few Extra Kens.
It interesting to see people compare the prices of both dolls in their country. The fancy one isn't available here in the UK yet but I'm keeping my eyes peeled👀
They both have the same quality Saran hair. Tbh I only bought them for their outfits but I prefer the AA one face wise. I can’t stand the Millie. But both dolls have great accessories.

Fancy costs more because of the dress.When i see those two dolls 'fancy' speeks more to me.Like they say 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'.

The Extra Fancy dolls are $52 on Amazon in Canada, whereas the Extras are $40, so the price difference is even larger. The Extras have been going on sale for at least 20% off, and I will not even consider the Fancy line unless it is around $35. Actually, the only one of the three Fancy dolls I really like is this pink one, and that's mainly for the dress.

The normal extra barbie is more EXTRA than the fancy sooo. But i love the fancy the teddy bears one remind me so mutch the sweetie fashionistas from 2011 but the quality OUCH ! But im barbie fan you know
Well in singapore they cost us about 45 dollar in amazon and 54 dollar in Toys”R”Us but it worth the money coz i can see mattel really step up the game

These barbie extra dolls should be $20 max, from the often questionable hair quality to the awful sticker pixelated faces, thin-not amazing fabrics, no stands, lots of random chunky unpainted accessories, i think it’s weird when people call them “mga competition” as if they were on the same level as mga dolls. The barbie extra dolls feel like the bootleg version, except for the fact that the price is still high.

I bought 2 of the 80s Barbie one and my dress has a hole in it I hate that they put the stupid plastic tags in the clothes terrible thing to do and the fancy dolls are beautiful but not worth extra money
Yes, people have basically said, but Extra Fancy is wearing more of a cocktail dress, and Extra is wearing streetwear. "Fancy," I think, indicates that Barbie is dressed for a special occasion. I definitely prefer the Extra Fancy look. I'd pay the extra money for her. I'm honestly very, very tired of streetwear/hip-hop looks. I mean, more power to you if you like the streetwear aesthetic, but for me personally, I've always liked Barbie to look a little more polished and sophisticated. Streetwear is just a very young, urban vibe, one which perhaps has been overdone a bit (depending on one's tastes).

I have almost all of the extra line and my absolute favorite is I forgot her number but she has the long pink micro braided hair, I absolutely lover her and the skateboarder. I'm slowly putting them all on MTM bodies. From the extra fancy I do want the teddy bear dressed one and I think the floral dressed one as well. I wish the make-up was a little extra but I can change that. For the price point of the Fancy they absolutely should be on MTM bodies. I'd rather have an MTM body and no pet. They can leave this line what it is a little more sporty, street, athleisure. I don't think the pink one fits the line. We have the signature line and other Barbies if you don't like the sporty, urban, athleisure look.
The Barie Extra dolls ive seen kind of have the same silhouette. I just prefer the Extra Fancy here for a more interesting look. I'm kind of tired of Extra's big statement jackets.
