- Taking the 1985 Volvo 744 for a UK MOT. It was recently acquired as a project car that was sat in a garage for over 1 year. I also share a pretty big channel update!

Great news about confirmation of the new Volvette/Volvino model. Congratulations! As a family man you are going to have to invest in some practical, roomy, robust and, above all, safe transport which you'll obviously need to know how to keep on the road. Off the top of my head though I can't think of anything that might fit the bill ....

Very happy for Ms Involvo'd and yourself Sledge regarding baby Volvo. I'm shocked that Ms Involvo'd has to wait so long as I would have thought that being pregnant and in a long term relationship would have expedited matters. I'm sure that everything will come together eventually. Ms Oly is my new fav. Well done for getting her back on the road.
Yes it's a shame, babies seem to have no influence on the visa, marriage and relationship term do, but our biggest hurdle was financial proof, they set the requirements high to try and ensure no-one is going to rely on the state 😏

Great it passed the MOT, such a pretty car! Congratulations again on the great update! Dont underestimate the power of little babies however haha, good chance it will be a hectic period with loads of sleep deprivation. Hope you will not feel obligated to upload videos constantly, family comes first! Good luck with the moving to Germany! Will you bring all three cars?

Catching up on some of your past videos. I'm in Arizona USA, currently driving a 1983 Chevrolet Celebrity with 2.8 V6 and carburettor. I love the 740 and 940 Volvos.
Congrats to you and the missus. Every disappointment leads to a new and unexpected adventure or opportunity. I lived in the "drei Laender Eck" in the 1970s in Aachen where Belgium, Holland and Germany meet. Beautiful countryside with the Ardennes in Belgium, the Eifel in Germany, and The Hautes Fagnes also in Belgium. Holland was another story where I was persona non-grata for a year. That was before the European Union. The Dutch border police provided me with plenty of entertainment as I continued to cross the border on foot.
You will have to finally learn to be fluent in German. When I initially arrived in Germany and started making friends they always laughed and asked what the difficulty was as all the little kids could speak German and why couldn't I? Your little girl or boy will be your guide. All the Best!

And as for windshield sprayers, I used ones from newer Volvo (V50 to be precise) when mine were clogged on 740, newer ones are much better since they spray mist.

That pumping of the accelerator, is that because of the ethanol in the petrol? In 40 odd years of driving I've never had to do that.
I got a bit carried away with the pumping, I think it only needs 1 or 2 because both times it was sat for several days and very cold especially overnight, but I'll see how it goes during daily use as you're right it shouldn't need it
I've got to catch a plane in 1 hour. Trying to think of a joke about babies and volvos. Later.

That's ridiculous that the wiper jet and a few bulbs fail the whole car. I'm so glad I live in Michigan where there are no emissions or visual inspections period. The only thing you gotta do to drive a car is register it and they don't even see it when you do that lol but then again I see some older cars on the road here that definitely should be haha

I watch a lot of Bearded Wrencher here on RUclips and see how bad the cars get. Gotta have a barrel of fluid film living over there 😃

@@Involvod Thanks mate! It has been a great pleasure to follow your adventures in Berlin (I'm still missing the 'Shed') and then in the UK. The content you are producing while tinkering with classic Volvos is exceptional: entertaining, educational and inspiring. It's such a shame that because of the bureaucracy and regulation you will have to leave the home soil and move to the other side of the Channel to be able to take a proper care of your growing family. At least the fleet of LHD Volvo's will come in handy and help you and miss Involvo'd out in taking on new duties.
Apart from occasional missile strikes and power supply shortages the situation in Kyiv is kinda stable (which sadly is not the case with other parts of Ukraine, especially the Eastern one). I decided that it would be a complete waste of time to seat on the pile of new Volvo parts waiting for who knows what and eventually carried out my 240 estate to the local Volvo-centric workshop for a complete suspension and brakes overhaul. Can't wait to get it back and put some serious miles on it :)

Funny, how happy you were even though it failed the MOT. But I totally understand it. That were just minor repairs.
Don't forget to grease the bonnet mechanism as WD40 is not a lubricant but rather a cleaner.

WD40 is not a good lubricant (well yes temporarily), but it evaporates.

Congratulations on both additions to the family! I personally have had constant trouble with the equivalent to MOTs in my country. Inspections every second year, and my 740 fails every time. Not because of actual faults, but because the mechanics don't know how the car works. The last inspection fail was because the front fog lights can't be turned on in combination with the low beams. The car is wired to work like that from the factory. That light combination is also illegal to use regardless, which makes the entire inspection result ridiculous. Unfortunately that means I have to register a complaint with the traffic authorities against the shop that did the inspection, prove that they are in fact incompetent and have the inspection result overturned. Adds a lot of unecessary time and money to the process. That is one of the reasons I bought an Amazon. Due to the age, it is exempt from inspections. The entire system with inspections have left a sour taste for me.

I've tried multiple shops over the years, but run into similar issues regardless. Hopefully I can find someone eventually who understand old cars. Still keeping my 740 eventhough I bought the Amazon. :-)

Is Oly actually metallic blue? In the sunlight it really looked like Atlantic Blue 🤔 and glad you can still make it over for socials etc.
No it's a solid blue, but with the depth of Volvo paint I think it can be deceptive! 😃
@@Involvod On the plate near the right headlight, it seems to be the right column and 4 lines for 740 and 2 for 940 and a registration like ****-**, for example 412-22, this is my paint code, what code do you have?)

Oly have Color #204 Donkerblauw, This Volvo 740 early, 1985,and this colour have in this factory colour Volvo range!)
