So they dug up some of the company's so-called "sexist" posters from years ago which made by some unknown employees, then edit them to look like Gamescience just post them out officially. And the most wide-spreading rumor "women cannot play game" on Weibo, it's actually said by a random Weibo user who got rage by the rumor and want to talk them back. They deliberately distorted this to make it look like Gamescience said it, then they told IGN and other western medias. This is the origin of all those nonsence, i didn't expect it would go this far when i saw the OP 4 years ago. What is INSANE is that they actually attacked YangQi, the art director of BlackMyth:WuKong, in the first place cause her name sounds relatively masculine in Mandarin, they shut up when they found out she turns out is a woman. I were never seen any game medias report that in this four years. What is worse is that now I am afraid to say I preorder this game, cause last time I repost its trailer I have been attacked by some so-called feminists, and many female followers unfoed me ( I post some Arknights stuff and have like 10k followers on Weibo). Thats good and having a problem with diversity and representation in the game is really weird BUT if you do a little research there are very weird sexist things the develeopers have said and that should be in the focus not the game
@@LoloXinChen Someone in the lead development for example said that some games ( like black myth ) are just for men and probably too hard for women and the type of games that women and men like is biologically pre determined , one of the technical developers also posted something very sexual regarding one of the actual female characters in game, saying if you cover the bottom snake part with one hand you can still jerk off to the top part. Oh yeah and there reportedly were also weird sexual comments Game Science made towards women when they were recruiting for new employees. So yeah Journey to the West didn't really have a lot of women in it to begin with so hating for that on the game is useless but I think there are enough sources that show that the developers are kinda sexist or atleast some of the lead developers and also openly made sexist comments like those, so I really don't get why people are completely disregarding that and focusing on the game or going ham on the fucking ign journalist, when the actual people should be held accountable for the stuff they openly said. They tried extorting the studio out of 7 million and since the studio didn't bend the knee to SBI they then proceeded to tried and cancel them using their "journalist" friends at IGN and other "game news media" but the game is still racking up the cash.
Blackrock has done so much damage to this era with their extortion tactics and forced compliance. Like they have to know that this force fed crap was doomed to fail.
If you mention Blackrock you can't leave out their full tri-fecta of Vanguard and State Street. Otherwise they just shift their corrupt activity to a more unknown brand, and the public doesn't realize it until years later. They could shift, and make Blackrock fall as the sacrificial lamb, the public falsely celebrates, and evil keeps chugging along.
Just remember that Blackrock took out federal reserve loan of $5 billion @ a fraction a of a percent interest rate ... Specifically to buy out single family homes & rent them out at rates higher than a mortgage. All this money they piss away on DEI and EGS failures, is the rent money your family bleeds out every month, and then the loss gets written off on their taxes.

We Chinese players have seen Muslim villains and Russian villains in the Call of Duty and Battlefield series, and even ourselves. We happen to have found a wiki page that states the monkey god was infact a transexual gay eskimo in a wheelchair with the pronouns she/her/monkeygod eskimo
Considering the absolute lack of talent in modern games journalists, this was bound to happen over time. Their primary purpose was removed by the internets evolution. In turn, rather than finding a new use for their job and creating a niche, they instead started inventing fake reasons as to why they are important. Talking about social issues became their bread and butter. Which is ironic since it generates neither bread nor butter. Most people require evidence to care about something, not some unfounded rumor from a nameless and faceless random on the internet.
It's crazy how these companies don't realize that politics turns gamers off. Just review the game and DON'T talk about stuff that is irrelevant to the gaming experience.
They know, they actually hate us and many of them have said as much. They think that by controlling the narrative they'll control the course of society and that people like us will just dissapear to be replaced by their mythical "modern audience".

You have it all wrong Asmon. These game news orgs are not even an industry. They are a tool for the larger companies that own them. It doesnt matter if they make oodles of money. That isnt their purpose
I feel like it’s more likely that the companies that own them go “make us money, and fast” and therefore the journalism studios pump out as much content that will get clicks as fast as possible. This usually means slop that draws in hate clicks or disbelief clicks. I’m sure the companies believe a lot of what they are saying; but so much of it feels like desperate grasping for relevancy.
My language teacher always told us not to use direct translate because there can be miss use of words that are similar but with different meaning and more when you are trying to translate sayings from other countries.
Not just that, but also slang and figures of speech. Those tend to be tricky, if not hard to translate, since there's usually some cultural context behind it that most people would be totally unfamiliar with.
As a woman who had been waiting for this game for 4 years, the controversy is stupid. If people are offended then don’t play. A good game is going to get played no matter what.
The benchmark for Black Myth Wukong is out on steam for download and testing. Extremely GPU demanding, it defaults to 50% super resolution and turns on an upscaler like fsr.

Perhaps the western media do not understand Chinese mythology and culture. Wukong is a "Monkey God" in Chinese Culture, and anyone have watch "Journey to the West", you can see the "ridiculous" ability of Wukong and why he became the Monkey God. So the way he block isn't the typical "sword & shield" battle style.

More like, the western media doesn't understand how the Chinese GOV works. Any company in China is just an extension of the Chinese GOV. Why on earth would the western woke media think they could strong arm the Chinese GOV? That's the real question.
The problem is that if you try to create new gaming journalism pages, they are the first to boycott you so that you are closed if you don't think like them or fit into their agenda.
i miss those statues on collector's edition..nowadays western devs just gave you "3 days early access", "collector edition missions", "collector in-game cosmetics", ingame currency. the statues made collector editions actually have value
Soooo true, early access as a preorder or upgraded version of the game is killing video games. It's such a lame excuse to charge the extra $20-50 for some BS like that, there's hardly any added value to the game as a whole, like you said.
Asmongold's subscriber made a really impactful comment about influencers being just as corrupt and that's the bigger problem that hardly anyone addresses. Who is really selling all these pre-orders for games like Payday 3, suicide squad and UFC and EA games? It's influencers that will sell out their entire audience for a key and some skins. That's it. Hardly anyone is genuine and I would say it's much easier and cheaper to manipulate the influencers. Pay Day 3 sucked and everyone commented on how amazing it was all through Betas. Same with suicide squad, mortal kombat and nearly any other really hyped big pre-sale heavy game that was a failure. The content creators should have more consequences for the way they have influenced their audience and the audience needs to stop simping for them as apologists.
"1 person wrote about it and then other people started writing about what this one person said claiming people were talking about it." This literally sums up the entirety of modern 'journalism'. Its just one giant circle jerk of opinions.

In my perspective, the entire gaming journalist market has been overtaken by RUclips. Why would I ever need to refer to a journalist when everybody has the chance to share their equally valid opinion??
game journalism will still be valid if only their opinion is relevant to the actual game and masses, despite RUclips existence its no different from food reviews the only real difference is food reviewers still have their credibility while game journalist completely destroyed their own credibility by pushing political agenda instead of the games itself
Asmon is on the money. Because the game was a masterpiece.
Rockstar made the devs overwork to get the game out, ngl i am lowkey supportive of that "abusive" decision cuz i just wanna play early. Think about it this way, if you boycott the game, then the employees would have been forced work hard for nothing, which is worse.

“As of this recording, they have repeatedly refused to comment on the allegations.” Which is so disingenuous because it would imply that Gamespot themselves have been trying to contact them for comment when really they mean in the general sense.
Not wrong on this one. Not at all. I used to read all of them to get different perspectives on a game, but gamespot was the first to go when they just started being an advertiser who used reviews to advertise. Then IGN, and then Kotaku. RPS was my last bookmark honestly and that has been going down-hill since they were bought out. They said it wouldn't happen, but it did. Listening to this I realised I hadn't visited for a while, not jsut because the reviews became very based on social opinions but because the trackers they had on that site made it seem less safe than buying a hit-man on the dark web. It's just so much advertising that to read anything i've got to bother to tweak my adblock settings. The text isn't worth that in 99% of cases, and the few occasions it IS, is all down to one reviewer who has a different style more reminiscent of the original review. Well thought out, well written with a unique perspective. But they put Sin on the pay-walled articles almost exclusively and I don't want to actually give money to these people. So that's the last bookmark gone today.
This is what happened to the music industry. I recall "In Rainbows" being released independently by Radiohead in 2007. It was a simple website that allowed you to "pay what you want" for the album, including $0.00.
With the recent FTC fake review ban, Gamespot, IGN, and SBI need to be reported. Insider reviews are illegal if they are in fact being influenced by SBI.
I still don't understand why studios listened to these nobodies in the first place. They intimidate? Still nothing. They are just noisy crickets. They are nobody.
They have the media on their side, it's obvious looking at how this game is being treated by them. At the same time, most companies super estimate their power, and end up giving up. Having wukong being a success without them might help a lot in the future
nobody relies on gaming journalists to inform themselves about games anymore. everyone who actually plays games either watches lets plays on youtube, twitch streams, or pirates the games to test them out themselves so that they then can make an informed decision if they want to buy the game and support the developers. this last point is also why demos are making a huge return currently. if you look at smaller indie games, a ton of them are publishing demos of their games again on steam before their releases so people can test them out without falling back on piracy. gaming journalism is a dead industry. in fact it died 10 years ago, and whats shuffling around right now are the zombified remains of its corpse. and youre right in that most of the crap theyre reporting on isnt even on the content of games anymore but social issues that they think are important, but that gamers dont give a shit about. even when theyre reporting about games, their takes are often hot garbage. like the whole discussion around baldurs gate 3 and how they were trying to tell us that we shouldnt expect this kind of quality to become the standart in gaming and hold large studios to that standart. like what kind of idiotic take is that? if anything they should have been reporting about how all the major billion dollar self proclaimed AAA and AAAA studios (ubisoft - lol) could make their games as good as baldurs gate 3 because they have the means, but actively decide not to. because its lazier and cheaper not to. so the agendas of gaming journalists even where the content of games is concerned, seems to be favorable towards the publishers rather than the gamers. which means theyre not even providing content thats credible from the perspective or gamers theyre aiming their content at.
souls like? the damage is mild imo, from what gameplay i've seen like bosses only doing like 10-15% hp not souls at all. it looks like it plays more like dmc or god of war or perhaps even star wars fallen order.
WRONG the actual reason why Black Myth Wukong is delayed because of Series S optimization issues. It's Phantom Blade Zero developers that said that no body needs xbox lol
Its not coming to xbox because the xbox series S has ruined that platform...having to dev a game for the lowest common denominator would of made this game look worse...this is a next gen game for next gen hardware.
I can deal with infinite static banner ads, or MILDLY animated ones. Those auto-playing videos with audio that chase you around a page with a mini player is what keeps me in adblock (and probably moving to firefox when chrome kills it).
People aren't particular familiar with Chinese game development industry. For so long, they've been developing games that is trying to cater to both gender, because they realized that it's equally or more profitable to entice women to spend on ingame cosmetics. Also, introduction of female player base into an MMO or any game will entice male gamers to spend more as well. So you games that cater to women or games try their best to please female players. Also games would include events or game systems that encourages male/female player interaction, MMOs games are very important part of Chinese online dating scene. The cosmetic and P2W system are often than not also built around that. They had a marriage system in MMOs as earlier as 2 decades ago. A lot of hardcore male gamers are sick of these trend. So your typical Chinese steam player or League player or any community with hardcore gamers are very hostile towards female players. There's a whole gender war on Chinese Twitter that revolves around they gaming industry. So GameScience initially pissed a lot of non-hardcore female gamers (which is the majority of them) off. And somehow international game media caught wind of that from Weibo and decided to frame the whole woke culture thing into a Chinese story, which is absurd to me because Asian (modern) culture, especially China with the wall, is so different. Even if it's in Japan or Korea where they're more connected and influenced by western culture, woke doesn't stand any chance. (E.g. being a feminist is an insult/scandal for celebrities in Korea, Japan had an active incels culture 20 years before incel is even a thing in Europe). The Chinese gender war isn't like your typical Western feminist; it's all about some women wanting to have privileges instead of rights, economic benefits instead of independence.
Your comment about AI taking over journalism is 100% spot on. It reminds me of the automation scare in the mid 2000’s. Tons of people were scared that robots were going to take all the jobs they occupied in manufacturing but really the only jobs that automation have ever threatened are menial, repetitive, and basic tasks. So if you felt like your job was ever threatened, it’s because you were an unsophisticated caveman who probably was an easily replaceable cog in the machine. Most people with any level of competency got other jobs within the same manufacturing plant supplementing the rudimentary robot tasks in new roles while the most rudimentary and basic mechanical tasks were assigned to robots. If you feel that your occupation of standing on an assembly line all day pressing a button is in danger, then you should probably branch out and learn a new skill or get a new job. This is also why the advent of PVC in plumbing did not destroy the need for skilled plumbers that worked with flux, copper, and lead. An unskilled plumber could learn to use PVC quickly but there was still a need for work to be done on traditional plumbing systems. They retained a valuable skill even though the job was made easier at the lower level. If you are at the lowest level and only know how to work with PVC without any skill in plumbing otherwise, then it would be safe to assume your job is up for grabs at any moment. As for journalism, If simply reporting a story encompasses the entire scope of your job you are a bad journalist and you deserve to get your job taken by a brain dead machine. Why would an employer needlessly spend more money on your salary if a basic machine can do the same thing as good or better? If you aren’t offering anything beyond basic observational reporting then you don’t deserve a spot in journalism because you add absolutely no value.
Yes, however the way you worded it points the finger to the employee, like journalists that don't do real journalism thus deserving replacement. The truth of the matter is more critical: while such bad journalists exist and are complacent, it's the industry that had them work that way in the first place and now the very same industry dreams about cutting costs substituting those jobs with a machine. The same goes for artists: many are being substituted by AI not because they lack artistic skill, but because their skill wasn't fully utilized to begin with and there was no interest for anything other than the industry demands. Regurgitation of the already-made was already an approach before the AI. A quick surf in ArtStation demonstrates this: it's hard to distinguish who's who amongst millions of images that all look the same: technically great but lacking innovation, with the exception of very very few that don't manage to stand out in such a crowd. So let's not put the blame on single individuals when this is a much bigger issue that was coming long before the advent of AI.
The allegations made my IGN and others were based on FAKE mistranslations that they KNEW WERE FAKE, but they didn't care, they just wanted a story and something to bitch about.

Game journalists are jusr weirdos on Twitter...
Most of them hate gamers, their own customers
This is what happened to the music industry. I recall "In Rainbows" being released independently by Radiohead in 2007. It was a simple website that allowed you to "pay what you want" for the album, including $0.00.
They want to fill games and anime with their agendas and dirty ideas.

@@TheMegamanan True tho. Also Stellar Blade who was so vocal against wokeys is also a huge success. Let's hope that the woke era will end soon.
nobody relies on gaming journalists to inform themselves about games anymore. everyone who actually plays games either watches lets plays on youtube, twitch streams, or pirates the games to test them out themselves so that they then can make an informed decision if they want to buy the game and support the developers. this last point is also why demos are making a huge return currently. if you look at smaller indie games, a ton of them are publishing demos of their games again on steam before their releases so people can test them out without falling back on piracy.
gaming journalism is a dead industry. in fact it died 10 years ago, and whats shuffling around right now are the zombified remains of its corpse. and youre right in that most of the crap theyre reporting on isnt even on the content of games anymore but social issues that they think are important, but that gamers dont give a shit about. even when theyre reporting about games, their takes are often hot garbage. like the whole discussion around baldurs gate 3 and how they were trying to tell us that we shouldnt expect this kind of quality to become the standart in gaming and hold large studios to that standart. like what kind of idiotic take is that?
if anything they should have been reporting about how all the major billion dollar self proclaimed AAA and AAAA studios (ubisoft - lol) could make their games as good as baldurs gate 3 because they have the means, but actively decide not to. because its lazier and cheaper not to. so the agendas of gaming journalists even where the content of games is concerned, seems to be favorable towards the publishers rather than the gamers. which means theyre not even providing content thats credible from the perspective or gamers theyre aiming their content at.
souls like? the damage is mild imo, from what gameplay i've seen like bosses only doing like 10-15% hp not souls at all.
it looks like it plays more like dmc or god of war or perhaps even star wars fallen order.
WRONG the actual reason why Black Myth Wukong is delayed because of Series S optimization issues. It's Phantom Blade Zero developers that said that no body needs xbox lol
I can't believe it took 4 years for PS5 to finally get a game
Its not coming to xbox because the xbox series S has ruined that platform...having to dev a game for the lowest common denominator would of made this game look worse...this is a next gen game for next gen hardware.
Pre-ordered mine, my body is ready! F these game journalists.
I can deal with infinite static banner ads, or MILDLY animated ones. Those auto-playing videos with audio that chase you around a page with a mini player is what keeps me in adblock (and probably moving to firefox when chrome kills it).
The “*cough cough* Souls-like” line was some of the most petty, grade school shit I’ve heard in a while.
Some people aren't smart and can only do menial jobs
