Very simple job, but only because I found this video on RUclips and it walked me through the whole job. A note of caution: 1) Before you pull off the drivers side panel, remove the mirror control knob by pulling it straight up and then disconnecting the plug. 2) Also, it's easier to put the door covers back on if you pull the guide bushing for the door locks out before putting the panels back on. The bushing pop right back in after you put the panels on. 3) Wire tie the wiring harness to something on the door panel before you reinstall. Otherwise it wants to disappear behind the door while you fuss with installation.
This video was a huge help! Thank you! Even had moments where I thought it was wrong but it wasn't and once I got the proper tool, it took me no time to replace the wiring harness in my door.
Thanks for the video, it was exactly what I needed. Had to replace the side view mirror and couldn't figure out how to remove the door panel. This showed and explained it quickly and simply!
Excellent video. Job was even easier than video (20 min each). Removed plate under door handle with paint can cover tool heated and bent to form a U. Worked great. Pay attention to screws from under door handle and under the square plate in well - look similar but not interchangeable.
You don't have to completely remove the door panel. You just have to remove it enough to get to the nuts holding the mirror on. Saves the hassle of removing the door handle from the panel, although you do still have to remove the bolt holding the handle to the metal part of the door. To remove the plastic trim piece covering this bolt I used an smallish allen wrench/key held with a vice grip. You could also use a paint can lid removal tool, although I didn't try this because I didn't have one handy. Also, you don't have to completely remove the plastic film covering the mirror mounting studs and nuts, just enough to gain access to the nuts.
I lost the nut behind the door handle screw... fell to the bottom of the door frame and now I can’t get it. I didn’t know there was a but or washer behind it
im so screwed the (passenger rear door) outside handle stopped working suddenly, and I opened it from the inside and thought the kid-lock thing was flipped and i flipped it and let the door shut and now I cant open the door period.... those bottom screws... omg.... great video though
My left rear door ajar light keeps going on, and the interior lights. We've been spraying contact cleaner on it but it keeps reoccuring, so i am think we need to replace the switch or the wiring harness inside the door.... Does anyone else have knowledge of this issue?
It can be the wires that run inside the rubber boot when you open the rear door. Start by removing the boot and checking the wires for breaks. My Extended cab Titan did the same thing!
Should have took a couple seconds to video the door after removal. I'm wanting to rust proof my door panels and was hoping to see access space available after panel was removed.
For the first bit , removing the plastic plate behind the door latch… I didn’t have a trim tool, so I used a paint can opener. Easy, worked great.

Great job! That's how you do a "how to" video! Short, sweet, & to the point!
Thank you, this was a great help!

Thanks. Super easy and took less than 20 minutes to do, start to finish including reinstall. Appreciate the video.
No Problem!

The part where you said all the sizes helped the most
This video was nothing but helpful. Thanks so very much for taking the time to make it!
Anytime!

Thanks for the clear and concise explanation.
Fantastic . Thank you for making this available.
Hardware sizes would've been nice, but otherwise good how-to....saves trips back n forth to the toolbox
My Platinum door panel is a little different. Does the whole "fake wood" panel pop off by prying? If so, where do you suggest prying on it?
Big help! Thanks for posting.
do you put the bottom on first when you reinstall? I can get the top to secure or the bottom to secure but not both at the same time
Great! Thank you. Very to the point!
How about if you just need to replace the handle? Do you need to take off the whole door?
Dude, right from the gate, I got stuck. Redo the beginning with the door latch and turn on the camera this time. Where did you poke around in there.
thanks guys, this helped a lot! keep up the great vids
Do u have any thing about access to cab corners n an e c model ?
I lost the nut behind the door handle screw... fell to the bottom of the door frame and now I can’t get it. I didn’t know there was a but or washer behind it
Thank you for uploading this
Great info. Easy, peazy, lemon squeezy.
Im having a hard time getting the black pannel off the door. Model is 2011. Please help!
What do you do if the captive nut behind the door handle falls inside the door?
You have to remove the door panel. Not to hard, just follow video posted. Same thing happened to me.
what about the supercab door on an 09 or newer? I've been looking all over and can't finda video thx
This is the correct video for that door.
I'm talking about the suicide door on the supercab I seen this one from you all but I'm not needing the normal door video if you know what I mean thx
Soooooooo, you skip the part on removing the wire from the old and connecting it to the new.
what type of panel tool should I use
Can you buy the tool at any parts store?

Thanks for the video compliment, hope you get this figured out and your door back open! Let us know how it goes!
Great vid! BTW - Do you have to remove the entire interior door panel to replace the side view mirrors?
Hey Bryant.. Did you ever find out if the whole panel needed to be removed to replace the mirror?
ProfoundPeaceBeneath - The entire panel has to be removed to replace the mirror.

Good informative video thanx
This doesn’t work on F-150 with manual windows. Completely different setup
Sorry, you are right
LOL. you scratched the panel removing the latch plate.
Anyone owns a f150 better learn how to do this since ford don't know how to make windows roll up and down without breaking.
we're hoping to help anyone who has to deal with that issue with this video
Probably the gayest door panel removal ive ever had to do
This video is not helpful because it doesn't show how to get the plastic off
F this I'm throwing the truck out
