Great video! I don't know if its mentioned anywhere but before you lose your mind putting the panel back on, there's something everyone needs to know. Obviously all the latches need to line up. Insert the three (I think there's 3) on the bottom first then everything will slide into place. Don't try muscling it, you might break something. Don't try talking dirty to it, you'll look like a fool. Just do what said.....easy peezy!!!
Very helpful! I found that I didn't need to remove the door opener cable, I just propped the door panel on a plastic garbage can after unplugging everything else and had plenty of room to swap out the speakers. Piece of cake.
Great procedure. Used it yesterday to install new tow mirrors. Several other videos were not correct for my 2013. Thanks for your help and to the Ford engineers for designing one of the easiest door panels that I have ever removed. I didn't even have to remove any of the window controller connector to replace the mirrors.
Had to come back and give a thumbs up. My 2012 change went exactly like this. I used a large fish hook from my tackle-box to pop the one out from behind the handle. I put Kenwood 6x8 ones in there and they fit perfectly. Don't forget a wiring harness to keep things clean.
Fantastic video, you saved me over $100 for installation on 4 speakers in 45 minutes. I replaced my four speakers with Kicker KSC68 and purchased the adapter connectors to fit the original F150 connectors. The sound is incredible and I had the same issue with the blown speaker. My only add would be to make sure you fit the lock pole. Not sure what you would call that, but I had to take the door panel off again to make that part fit again. Oh and I did not have that nice hook tool, so I used a hook from my tool cabinet with a needle nose plyers and pulled that plastic piece off at the door latch arm. Did not have the 5.5 mm socket, but managed to angle the socket to work. I am so happy I did this myself.
I was so please to see you had this video. I watch all your videos and never thought in my dreams that you would’ve done one for the door speaker. Very helpful.
Just wanted to THANK YOU for the excellent video. Speaker just failed in the past weeks, so found this video and purchased replacement speakers on Crutchfield and installed. Took longer to find the right tools then it did to complete the work. EXCELLENT VIDS!!!
I used your video to dismantle door panel on my 2010 F150 so I could replace the outside mirror. piece of cake! Thanks so much for your time and efforts!
Hi, Thanks for sharing this tutorial. It has helped me a lot! I don't know if this has been mentioned but I didn't have a great trim tool to get that plate off where the door handle is. I found a paint can opener did the trick. I had to work it some but the plate eventually popped off without any scratches or damage.
Thanks for a quick and accurate tutorial! I could wiggle the wiring harness in the door jam and hear my left, front speaker go on and off. Pulled the door panel and found that I have aftermarket speakers already, but one of the silly crimp-terminals was barely hanging on. A quick 30 second snip, strip and solder job and I'm back to sounding great. Thanks again.
Nice that they finally made it easy to get the door panel off without messing with 5,000 of those little plastic fasteners that the old door panels had.
Thank you! And quick tip. When putting the panel back on make sure the door is in the unlocked position so the door lock pin is up. Makes it a lot easier to align it into the hole! Took me about 5 minutes of trying to figure this one out 😂
Excellent steps. Appreciate the tips and warnings. Got the truck used so cannot tell if the speakers just sound that bad or the speakers are blown. Either way I wanted to see how hard to upgrade.
Thanks for this video! Made this job easy. One thing I found was that the speaker was not actually blown but the plastic connector had snapped on one side causing the wire to contact the housing resulting in a blown speaker sound. Repaired connector, $0 fix.
Thanks for this video! It will be very helpful for me. Sorry this is a bit off topic, but are there any common things you know to look for on the passenger front door of a SuperCrew (2013 FX4 if that matters) for a rattle? It sounds like it is higher up in the door panel toward the front of the vehicle. Happens over even the tiniest bumps. It's been to the dealership three times so far without any progress. The most recent attempt was installing a big foam piece in the door. Thanks again for this video, and honestly, all the others you do. Super helpful!
Nice video, it was very helpful. A couple comments as I went thru the process. In the 2nd step to remove the 2nd 8mm bolt, I found a long skinny screwdriver inserted into the plastic cover starting from the lower left hand corner popped out the cover. The best news is that when I pulled the speaker out I did not see any tears in the cone. While playing music I could stop the buzzing by placing my fingers on the cone at the 2 long ends. Then I stuffed cone with paper towels in the back and installed the speaker back again. The buzz is gone for now, a temporary fix (maybe longer) till I find a new speaker.
I had to replace my drivers side mirror. This video certainly helped. I would have never found that screw behind that door opening handle. I had the door off in no time. I only had to watch the video once! Good job.
Great video. Easy fix with simple tools. I found that my driver side front Ford/Sony speaker failed simply because the wire connector was mounted to the speaker body with flimsy plastic that broke away. Replaced with much better Rockford Fosgate speakers. Much better sound.
Thanks much appreciated.this allowed me to do my 2012 F150 both doors I used some Kenwood speakers and connectors i got from Amazon. Relatively easy, the hardest part was getting the door back in position, I used a long thin screwdriver to push the door lock button into the hole in the plastic framing it made the alignments quicker.
My old speakers were crackling and it was super annoying when i tried to jam out to my music so I said "I can't take it anymore" and knuckled down and fixed it. It was a Easy fix saved me a ton of money
A little late comming but, thanks for the great video. My OEM speaker was blown/replaced at new purchase. Blown within 2 years. Now looking to go aftermarket.
I always check your Video's first when doing work on my 2013 F150 and my Mercury Mountaineer... I can always count on you to show the best way to fix things. By the way your video on the tranny lines was great too. it saved me a blown tranny because I checked my lines like you said and yes one was ready to pop it's aluminum sleeve.
Great vid! My drivers side speaker blew out, or so I thought, until I took it apart and noticed one of those white wires that plugs into the speaker was very loose, then fell out before I even removed the speaker. I’m going to get some aftermarket jobs, but as far as the wire, can I just re-strip it, twist it up and pop it back into that hole?
Great video and thanks for the upload. My 2014 F-150 SuperCrew has blown both front speakers in only a few months and was looking to get replaced. Did you use new FORD speakers to replace the old ones, or did you use something alittle more in the quality department? Curious because of the wiring that you disconnected right from the side of the speaker, itself, and whether or not I can expect to see that on Factory parts or aftermarket.
Thanks GREAT video! the wiring harness problem you spoke of in the pre 2011 models (I have a 2010), is their an easy fix for that or do I need to replace the entire harness?
Hi there, thanks for sharing, very helpful. By any chance, can you recommend any standard aftermarket speakers that would fir as replacements for the factory one?
Thanks for posting the video. I have a situation that i'm hoping to get your opinion on before I start removing the driver door panel. My driver door speaker seems to not want to put out sound unless I turn up the volume considerably upon which it comes alive so to speak. Any idea what would be the culprit?
Any chance you have a link to purchase the hook tool you used for the first little cover and the cover behind the door handle? Your videos are great btw. You have definitely saved me some money.

Had one front speaker blowout shortly after buying my new 2013, got two after markets in the front and hear stock tweeters cutting out several years later.
You got a question I don't know if you still monitor this video or not but I'll give a shot are the rear door panels the same way as a front panels on the crew cab 2010?
Great job I think I am going to replace my speakers this weekend. Have you by chance replaced or fixed the visor with the electrical for the garage door opener. The sliding action of the visor breaks these wires in a year or two and a replacement has done the same. I want to repair the wires with braided stranded copper or something that can withstand the sliding. It appears the OEM visor design is poor and they are using the wrong type of wiring.
Tom Dunkle I have replaced them for this yes, once you unbolt the visor you will see the electrical connector. I think I was able to remove the vanity mirror without damage to look inside and see the broken wires.
Thanks for the Video! I have a question, my 14 F-150 KR has the "premium" system and says "SONY" on the door panels. Are those speakers better or just premium crappy? Thanks
kclm7 just came across this video an your message... I have a 2014 platinum with the Sony speakers do you remember what size speakers were the front door an rear?
Great video. I'm aware this is busch league, but I'm interested in splicing off the speaker wire/wire harness to feed the input on a powered sub. Anyone have any insight on that, having done it before?
My speaker sounds fine. When it works. It cuts in and out. I have a tweeter in the a pillar also and they go out together. So I don’t think that’s a blown speaker. I think it’s a bad connection from the harness. Going over a bump or banging on the door panel they kick in. sound about right?
Since I purchased my 2010 F150, new, the drivers side door speaker has been off more than on. I advised the dealer, they said they thought it was ok. Now that it is way out of warrantee they tell me there is a service bulletin on the issue. Do I really need a new harness, or is the issue (as some claim) just to replace the speaker with a new plug?
Can anybody tell me if speakers can contact the grille on the door panel? I get a rattling noise on bass notes and am trying to determine if it's the speakers themselves or vibrations from the door panel.
Thanks for the great video. What size speakers are they ? Can you also tell me the do we need the harness for the speaker wiring for after market speakers ?
Dear Mr Makuloco, I have a 2005,F-150 super-cap that I want to replace the front & rear speaker on. It looks easy on the front but how do you get to the rear? I looked for a video on this but I did not see that you have one. How do I get to the speaker in the rear door? Thank you,Doug.
FordTechMakuloco Dear MR Makuloco, In your video it is for 2009-2014 F-150's. Is it the same? I was looking at it & I think I know how to take off the rear panel's (on my 2005) but want to be sure. How do I sent you an E-Mail? I just don't want my E-mail on this site for everyone to see. And thank you for getting back so soon & for all the info you give everyone on here.
FordTechMakuloco Hello MR,Makuloco, I just did (replaced F&R) my speaker's on my 2005 F-150. I just looked at it & with your video on the 2009-2014 it was real easy. Almost the same as the 2009-2014. Boy what junk speaker's they put in the F-150! I think Ford owes me money? LOL. Thank you for everything. Doug.
Do you by chance have a video made for replacing the wiring harness in the doors regarding the TSB 13-10-18 on 2010 - 2012 F-150's? I have the factory Helm manuals and they do not seem to reference the routing of the harness or the vapor barrier on the doors.
No I haven't seen one in awhile to do a video on. It is all very easy thouh you will see where it all goes. Best to take a video before hand of where everything routes to.
FordTechMakuloco What about the putty stuff that holds that plastic vapor barrier up? doesn't look like there is a way to save it, so what is the resolution to re-attach the vapor barrier?
+FordTechMakuloco any luck ive been trying to replace my rear speakers on my extended cab but i cant seem to get the t50 bolt loose, would love to see a video whenever possible?
What about a speaker on a 2011 F150 that is coming on and then going off ? Has came back on by moving wiring system at door. Not sure how to remove it to check it out.

I love it when someone makes a video and gets right to the point about how, when and what to do.
Very helpful! I found that I didn't need to remove the door opener cable, I just propped the door panel on a plastic garbage can after unplugging everything else and had plenty of room to swap out the speakers. Piece of cake.

I have a 2005,F-150 super-cap that I want to replace the front & rear speaker on. It looks easy on the front but how do you get to the rear? I looked for a video on this but I did not see that you have one. How do I get to the speaker in the rear door? Thank you,Doug.
Douglas ZIMMERMANN send me an email with your information I will send you the procedure.
Goto my channel home page and then the about page there is a link for inquiries.
FordTechMakuloco Hello MR,Makuloco,
I just did (replaced F&R) my speaker's on my 2005 F-150. I just looked at it & with your video on the 2009-2014 it was real easy. Almost the same as the 2009-2014. Boy what junk speaker's they put in the F-150! I think Ford owes me money? LOL. Thank you for everything.
Doug.
+FordTechMakuloco i replaced the front speakers in about 30 mins but i cant seem to get the t50 torx bolt loose any ideas? please
What keeps the water inside the door from getting on the speakers? Do I need to install some protection for the back of the speaker??
what aftermarket speaker did you replace it with. i cant find any that are just plug and play like that
If you go to crutchfield.com and put in your car, they will supply adapters that connect to the speakers and the factory connector
What size speakers are they I’m having trouble finding the measurement
Any luck?

How many amps can you run on the factory wires like what's the maximum Watts on the radio or the amp on the factory wire for those speakers
Will 6x9 speakers fit in the door instead of 6x8. Want to get 6x9's instead but not sure if they would fit. Great vid.
+danpol69 Not sure crutchfield.com would be your best bet.
+danpol69 Probably not and no reason if you're going to have a sub.
There should be more than enough to hold it back on. Otherwise you can get this stuff call strip caulk from 3M.
Are the stock speakers 6x8? 2014 with 25k miles and it cuts in and out already. Sounds blown....
I wonder if that adapter will fit an aftermarket speaker just as easily or if you have to splice the wires old school? 🤔
450rmack Metra and Scosche make plug in adapters and they’re only like $8-$10 for both speakers.
Fantastic videos!! Thanks so much for doing this! Can you post a video on how to remove the rear door panel on a 2011 super cab? Thanks!
falconjet3 You know what I should do that I have had a few questions on this before, I will put it on my list.
