Crossing the North Atlantic to Ireland with a single engine Cessna, flew into icing conditions. The rime started to build on the leading edge of the wings which reduced speed. So had to add power and fuel use increased. Now it was doubtful if the plane would even make the coast. Plane was in solid IFR conditions at 7000’. The engine ran out of fuel and started down to the ocean. Called ahead to inform the Irish rescue. Broke out of the clouds at 4000’ and up ahead was the Irish coast. Helios were on the way but it looked like it would be a water landing. However, using the rudders back and forth the engine started to run for a few minutes. Was able to reach dry land and wound up in a potato field. Luck was on the side of the flight.

the person making the biggest logistical mistake was Stu. Because in his mind, he needed to "get there" to get back to New York for his event. Personally, if I was the other pilot, I would really be cautious about even flying with Stu, because of that. In my mind, every decision and though he makes on this ferry trip would have, attached to it, the idea to get things done as soon as possible, not as soon as safe, nor as soon as prudent. "Get-there-itis" is one of the top reasons small plane pilots, and even large plane pilots as in the case of the Dutch Captain in the Tenereefe disaster, cause avoidable loss of life and property. Even though it probably wasn't an overt immediate obvious concern for Stu, he makes a point of mentioning in in the beginning of the trip, and even though it was probably included to add to the tension a show like this tries to create or amplify, in my mind it is still part of his personality makeup as a pilot for this trip, and really could be a factor, although subtle, in many decisions as they fly and plan.

A small single engine 36-year-old Cessna flying across the Atlantic with a homemade gas tank that holds only 15 extra gallons? These guys are trying to duplicate the difficulty of Amelia Earhart's escapades!
    I had some questions:
How much did this delivery cost the customer?
Aren't there special BIG MULTI-ENGINE JETS that specialize in transporting HUGE "packages"?
Wouldn't such a jet transport delivery be FASTER and SAFER with less wear on the "package"? Even if the wings and a few other parts might have to be removed and reassembled upon arrival? Especially if TIME TO DELIVERY is most important?
MOST IMPORTANT TO CONSIDER: ADDING 10,000 KM in a few days, of heavy flying to a 36-year-old airplane in questionable condition.
How much did the REPAIRS and the overhaul of the old Cessna cost the customer/owner after the airplane was delivered? The Cessna already needed several repairs, PLUS a huge overhaul as well as MORE related repairs and replacements of old worn-out parts after it's 10,000 KM flight, especially if it is to be used daily for SKYDIVING.
Cory's reputation depends upon his having satisfied customers, which includes saving them from unexpected expenses after delivery. We don't know all the details of this Cessna delivery, but the age of the Cessna alone indicates huge maintenance issues after FLYING 10,000 stressful KM in a few days. Cory's reputation for safe, prompt deliveries will include his ability to help potential customers select the BEST TYPE of service, even if it isn't one he provides.

Some of the comments in the show were HILIAROUS! One pilot (the Bonanza) saying 'you know, some pilots are on the phone with the owner every 10-minutes'...yeah, but in the end, the owner wouldn't let you solo the plane to the destination...now did he? MICRO-MANAGEMENT exemplified. Then, you've got C.B. acting like 'he is the answer', with comments about 'professional pilots'...then what is he doing? VIOLATING BASIC A&P (and FAA) rules, with things like affixing EXTENDED FUEL TANKS without certifying them! I mean, this show is the epitome of 'companies you should avoid at all costs'! None of this, if it happened as shown, is legit (or legal), and should have their tickets cancelled IMMEDIATELY! Once again, where's the FAA when you expect their enforcement?
