- On the 30th November 1918, Faure's delicate miniature 'Une chatelaine en sa tour...' op.110 received its premiere at the Société Nationale de Musique in Paris. Its title gleaned from a line of the poet Paul Verlaine, the piece is one of the most magical and enigmatic pieces in the harp's repertoire. Here it is performed by Alex Rider on an original Erard harp from 1902. In this short film, Alex also introduces a little of the work's history and that of its creator, the harpist Micheline Kahn (1889-1987).

Amazing and interesting! Bravo maestro!
Hearing this work performed on an Erard harp from the same time period gives this piece a poignancy that is indeed special.
By the way - Micheline Kahn won her Premier Prix in 1904, before her 15th birthday ... these things can easily be missed out when you’re trying to present in an intimate and informal style ...🙃🙄
gorgeous playing, Alex, and such an interesting snapshot of her life and how it intertwined with Fauré’s and led to this amazing composition
I love your historic storytelling, captivating as always and your subtle and articulated playing!
Thank you for this lovely tribute and your beautiful playing- I enjoyed how supple and clear your lines are in this charming work. Brava!
