  • Hello and Welcome to episode 104 of Trash to Track
In this episode we take a look at a Hornby Southern Terrier loco. One of the smallest OO locos i’ve ever worked on. Lets see if we can restore this model to its former glory.
    Thanks for looking.

That little terrier is running remarkably well since you gave it the treatment. Cheers Dan.

I tend to use "tungsten putty" (Used for fishing) in every nook and cranny to add extra weight.
It's a great bit of kit and cheap too. Cheers!

Thanks for the excellent tutorial Dan. Really nice to have such learning resources available, when your getting back into the hobby after a very long break...lol.

Great video thanks for sharing Dan, looking forward to the Pug video, I've got one on my layout, are those plunger pickups similar to the ones fitted on the Airfix 0 4 2 model? Thanks again John

Yes the plunger pick ups are the same across the terriers and 14XX’s

Would the Trix 66602 cleaning tool be a good addition to your locomotive repair toolbox? That is a brass brush system that cleans the wheels with conductive brushes

Yes, i’ve often looked at those. I have seen ones that are like a toothbrush on a wire and also one you sit on track and the conductive bristles turn the wheels.
