Hello, Sam! I've been watching your videos for a little over a year now, and I just wanted to thank you for getting me back into the model railway hobby! I had them when I was younger, and eventually moved on to other things, but seeing your reviews has shown me what beautiful locos and rolling stock are available on the market, and have given me the bug to start again! I chose this video in particular to comment on because I just received my own Hornby Terrier in the mail today! Thanks again!
Hi Sam, more trivia. The "brass" fittings on the sides of the boiler are the water feed "Clack" valves, so named because of the clacking noise they made in operation. The ones on the sides of the smokebox are lubricators. Good review, I agree with you. Best regards, Alan.
Agreed a comparison would be really good... especially after the animosity that was shown on James Mays program and the claims by Rails that theirs would be better!
Well I was going back to modelling an OO end-to-end layout, but I was slightly upset when I read about the 3-pole motor. But, it looks as if the mechanism does not hinder smooth slow running, so back up the wishlist it goes!

Very pleased with how this model looked and Thank you so much for the Hatton suggestion. Plan to get the Stepney version once released and with having him shipped to the US any bit helps in lowering the price.
On the Hayling Island branch line, I think the normal load was 2 or 3 bogie passenger coaches. They had a couple of mixed trains per week, which would have 2 coaches and a few goods wagons (including the goods brake van).
hey Sam i am so excited to see this new terrier by hornby, but please please please review the Rails of Sheffield A1x terrier as well and compare them both. It would be great to hear which own is the better buy?
I'm looking to buy one of these for my stand alone layout of Havant station c. 1960. These terriers were used on the hayling branch line until 1963. Great review thank you.
Excellent review. This has made me very tempted to purchase one myself. However, the assembly is where Rails might have Hornby here. Always tense when two companies make the same model. Hornby have flexed their production muscles with how fast this has been released, but at the cost of certain areas you've highlighted. Always enjoyable. Looking forward to the next review.
Thanks so much mate, that's great to hear - yeah I agree, there's definitely room for Rails to beat Hornby on this - we'll just have to wait and see! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
This little model is definitely on my must have list it looks fantastic in that black finish. When those Beatles wagons come available I'm ordering them, this locomotive would look great hauling them im a big Beatles fan.Once again great review Sam !!
Hey Sam. Another great video. Would be interesting to see a full comparison against the previous Hornby version...AND perhaps the Rails of Sheffield version..? But at £110.00 that one better not have any glue marks or bent pick ups!
Outstanding review Sam! This was definitely a important key to my purchase of this terrier, it arrived only yesterday and I’m already enjoying it! Thanks again for the well detailed review. Have a great day/evening!
I'd like to point out that at 16:23 or so, the middle wheel seems to either jam up or just stop for a split second, could be that it isn't making contact with the rail.
Yeah, that did look pretty dodgy - but I can't say there have been any running issues! It's worth noting that it's the rear wheel that's driven, which can cause that kind of effect sometimes! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi Sam great looking loco I agree you shouldn't have to do repairs out the box I bought my first n gauge engine and It works Looking forward to tomorrow's live stream
Excellent review of the brand new Hornby LBSCR Terrier tank Sam 👍😉 I'm going to get one of these in Southern or LBSCR liverys in the near future when there come out.
Yep, usually you'll be able to see them on the axles if you remove the base - though on this one, they're visible without removing the base! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
The Terriers are nice little 0-6-0 Tank Engines. Yours are the cutest I've ever seen. I don't have an 0-6-0 Terrier in my collection, but if I see any somewhere I might try and buy two making sure one of them is Stepney.
This is a difficult one Sam, there are too many small issues on this much anticipated model. In addition to the negative issues you've highlighted, at 15:04 you can see that the coupling rod from the front wheel is not in line with the centre to the back link, which will also have an effect on its running..As you know, I recently purchased a Hornby Hall for much less than the cost of this loco...so not impressed!....Bob
I agree Bob - just a few too many! And yes - I have received many comments about the slackness of the coupling rods - and that's true, the value doesn't sound quite as good when you compare it to the Hall class! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I watched this with quite a lot of enjoyment. I have one OO guage engine as they are quite hard to find in america. The terrier. I have the same exact one in this review. Same number and everything just the old style run. Very cool to see the new run.
That’s good to hear Jack, sorry to hear they’re hard to find over there! Ooh cool, I didn’t know there was an old version of this one! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Nice review Sam. Always liked the 'cute' look of the Terrier which Hornby seem to have got pretty much spot on. Funny you having problems with the pickups, I had some problems with another - older - Hornby loco as well. Reasonably priced, relatively speaking these days. Al.
I'm guessing that the dodgyness of the assembly will be exclusive the BR black version. Just because of the quickness between announcement and release.
Nice review. I have one of these. It seems to struggle on certain points on my layout. Shows where the dirty bits are. Somthing I also noticed was the box shows in the photo the model with a copper cap on the chimney, the model does not seem to. Not a huge issue
Yes that's very true - these do seem very sensitive to curves, points and certainly dirt! Very well spotted with that - that's very odd! Looking at the real things though, the copper coloured chimney doesn't seem to be a part of the BR livery! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
That 'copper device' is a clack (non-return) valve, it is the valve through which water is injected into the boiler. The brass taps either side of smoke box look like lubricators for the cylinders.
I’ve been eyeing two Hornby Terriers on Amazon in Southern Green and Leadenhall for under $100. I’m currently leaning towards Leadenhall since it looks like Stepney from TTTE
Impressive model Sam. Hey, I got an idea for you. How about the Norfolk and Western streamlined J Class? It’s as big as Daylight. I just bought one, and it looks great. You should get one too. ;)
My Hornby terrier arrived about a week ago now, I got the SR, 2662 Terrier as that's the one I'll be driving in real life soon. My model was in prefect condition and pickups where fine so I'm guessing you got a "damaged" model. I also believe that the BR black terriers where rushed to beat the Rails of sheffield Terrier.
I think the molding issues appear to apply only to the model you received. Hattons have reviewed the model, and the one shown in their video appears not to have the problems at least in that respect. Samuel F.
Thanks Samuel - yes I'm sure these won't be present on all models - but since there was more than one isolated quality issue with this model, that strongly suggests that mine won't be the only one! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I like how this terrier is one of the models without the sandbox at the front connected with the wheel arches apart from the Hornby terrier southern engine number 2662, (correct me if I got the boxes at the front wrong) most models have this, even the Thomas and friends Stepney Hornby model.
That model is so tiny it looks so funny pulling all those coaches. And a little fact the coaches it was pulling are the one that were used for the express coaches in Thomas and friends.
Hi.I know this was a year ago . Just purchaced the new leadenhall terrier and it seems juddery slow running. Straight from the box I noticed but will give a run in on the rolling road for an hour to see if she improves. Regards matt
$118 USD seems a bit expensive for a terrier, but admittedly to a college student everything seems expensive. I’d like to see another terrier, hopefully this was a fluke. Good video Sam, as always.
I agree it is pretty expensive - but not so much when compared with other models on offer, many of which cost more than double! Hopefully this was a fluke, can't say for sure! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Another model I need to order but only if it is as good as the rails of Sheffield, from Sheffield (great James May joke) versions. I had to buy the GWR shunters truck (fowey one)on Friday because of your great review on it.
hi sam I just love the look of the terriers and I think that you were a bit to harsh on the overall score and are you going to get the Hornby terrier Stepney in may and when is the next team Thomas vs real life and I love all you videos from david
Good Evening Sam, The brand new retooled Hornby A1X Terrier is an excellent model despite some of the detail is made of plastic, the running performance is superb, despite being fast at half speed, I did tell you long time ago, the Terriers are quite speedy Tank Engines back on the LBSCR while hauling commuter trains, the Terrier looks like she's travelling at around 40 miles per hour. I can see 6 Southern Region Tank Engines in the sidings. Talking of Tank Engines, yesterday I went to the Spring Steam Gala on the Severn Valley Railway, it was brilliant seeing a lot of Tank Engines running and a few Tender Engines, most of them are Great Western and the 2, a LNWR Coal Tank No.1054 from the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway and the Severn Valley Railway's recently overhauled, BR Standard 4 4-6-0 No.75069. While I was in Kidderminster, I treated myself to a new model steam locomotive, it's not a British one, it's a German DB 2-8-2T Class Steam Locomotive made by Marklin, Marklin is a model railway company in Germany, it's a interesting model. Now back to your brand new Hornby Terrier, again it's a excellent model, I'm planning on getting 2 Terriers, No.655 Stepney in LBSCR Improved Green Livery and No.2662 Martello in Southern Railway Olive Green Livery, I haven't pre-ordered them yet. I give your video as always. 10/10 5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 😉
Thanks very much for this Jordan - ahh yes that's true, I remember you saying that they were speedy! Hope had an awesome time at the Gala - it does sound fantastic! Hope you enjoy your new engine, that sounds brilliant! Thanks again for the comment, Sam :)
An amazing review, Sam. Fenchurch the Terrier was a very nice locomotive, with good detailing, a powerfull engine, and its small design was very attractive too. However, there are some areas that it could be better, like the fact that is very speed at the control, (but I think its due to the small gearing on the chasis, since that also happened with the Midland 1F) and especially the quality, since its a bit disapointing that you have to fix parts of a new in box model. But other than that, it is still a beautifull model, even if its not perfect, it is incredible how much they improved it, and it was worth the wait in my opinion. Anyways, hope you have a good day, and I will see you later.
Hi Sam I just purchased the SE&CR green version and it’s lovely! Was going to say I can’t find where you are suppose to put the pipe work parts? Any clues
Sam can you do a video on the Union Pacific Big Boy 4014. Because it almost finished with restoration in Cheyenne Wyoming for 150th Anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad.
The old Dapol/Hornby Terrier had a number of problems, but the obvious one was that the body sat too high on the body and the buffers were also too high relative to the running plate. I was part-way through doing a fix-up of the old terrier as well as converting it to an Isle-of-Wight example with the extended bunker when this model was announced and subsequently released. So that is that for the conversion. The mechanism will go under a narrow-gauge O-16.5 loco and the body will probably get junked.
Thanks a lot for that mate! Yes Stepney should be awesome! Dahcoolmincrafta BRUH - true they do have a Thomas Stepney already, but that's a very old model - the new Stepney is to represent the real thing! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Four bogie coaches is a bit more than prototypical for a Terrier, in preservation if nothing else. At the K&ESR (which have owned and run the majority of preserved Terriers), they usually only haul the "vintage train", a rake of five coaches of different pre-Big 4 companies, all but one being four-wheel; or a rake of two MK1 coaches. A driver told me that the Wealden Pullman, currently a 4-coach rake, is too heavy for a Terrier, but two of those vehicles are Pullman cars which are a very heavy wooden construction and a third is Maunsell.
Thanks very much for the info on this Douglas, duly noted. So this model is roughly prototypical in it's pulling power then! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thanks Warren. If the layout was just for me, it’d be on baseboards by now. But as a good portion of my audience are beginners and children, it appeals to them really well, so I’ve kept it! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hmm nice loco, pity about the quality control issues; I suspect there may have been 'rushing' to get the model out before dapol/rails model. That said it did look good and I'm pleased there is a big step change from the old model and I've always liked that. I have ordered one so will be interested to see how it looks/performs. I normally model BR, however on this occasion I think I will also order a LBSC model when it's released. Nice review especially when viewed following the James May program on Hornby.
Thanks a lot Colin, yes it’s a shame about the quality, but a decent model overall I’d say! Hope yours is good for you! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam'sTrains hi Sam, had my terrier through the post today. It appears that the quality issues you highlighted may be limited to a small number only. The version I received was fine. When comparing with the old version, there is quite a step change. The most obvious is that the old model appears to stand very high, you can see this when looking at the relative positions of the wheels and splashes. The details are also very fine compared with the old. Certainly recommend this model, but do check the model for quality control.
I wasn’t at all interested in these until I picked up the 2662 Southern terrier. I’m actually really impressed with its performance, I did have a minor issue as you did with one of the pickups, but as you mentioned I got curious about the other pre-grouping liveries and I have a LSWR example coming in the post!
Thanks a lot for sharing Owen - yes overall fantastic models for the price... I've found later examples to be better quality too! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
i love it. it actually reminds me of the terrier from the assassins creed syndicate video game. personally, i would only recommend purchasing another one in the LB&SCR livery if they do one. and actually, i would really like to know if they relaunch a Stepney the Bluebell Engine in this new tooling.
I think that’s a good lesson- just check over the train before running to see if there are obvious defects in assembly especially where the pickups are concerned.
very tempted by this, i was planning on buying the old tooling second hand, but seeing them run i'm not sure which I'd pick, considering the difference in price. does seem like it pays to get a good look at them out of the box before you pick one though. Can only hope Hornby are planning to retool more of their old Dapol locos, having heard only negative-to-mixxed reviews on the J94 and 14xx from DJM in terms of performance.
Thanks for the comment - yeah with these it would be good to take a look in the box first, if possible! Agreed - a new J94 and 14xx from Hornby would be fantastic - I'd certainly buy them!! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
11:47 that's why i don't really like this new Hornby Terrier! 14:13 I don't think any Hornby locos aside from the RailRoad range had 3-pole motors! All the main range locos in the 2017 Hornby catalog I have all claim to have 5-pole motors! I too was expecting better from this model! You should take a look at one of the liveries expected to be released later and see if the quality has changed.
Yeah - it's a tad crude that cab! That's true - most of their range does use 5-pole motors these days - but the motors in question are very tiny, so there would be issues trying to make them 5-pole! We'll have to see how the Dapol verson runs! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thanks a lot mate, I think I can recommend this overall! I think someone suggested I do that in a comment - was it you?! :O Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi sam the pick ups are certainly a big issue and sadly do go eventually.... and unfortunately hornby doesnt sell spares so they expect you to return it to them
Great video as always Sam, I have pre-ordered the Southern lined green one. It's a bit of a worry though that Hornby have yet again let build quality drop. The recent pecket I purchased was to excellent standards and it regained my faith with hornby. I really hope that Hornby hasn't dropped the ball yet again.
Thanks a lot Jose, I hope the SR version is a really good one for you - let's hope they're not all like mine were!! :o I agree - I thought the quality problems were well in the past! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I know it's been suggested before, but would you be able to compare not only the old Hornby terrier but the p class as well against yhe new terrier? Very similar models really.
@@SamsTrains well southern 2662 has finally arrived . Hornby have definitely dropped the ball yet again with quality control. Broken cab steps, ugly scratches on the running board and what the really annoying thing is the missing coupling hook! I think I'll cancel the pre-order for the rest of the terriers and wait for the rails of Sheffield one's.
Thanks a lot mate! Yes it’s very difficult to say -plenty of room for improvement on this one though, so I’m really interested to see the Dapol one! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Just got myself a second hand GWR 14xx loco for £30. Test it at the shop, had some problems but everything is ok now. However they don’t have a auto coach for it. Better keep on looking.
Very nice review of a very nice loco! They only brought this out to challenge the one rails of Sheffield are making. I can’t wait to see more videos of Diesels I would love to see you review the new Hornby class 66. Keep up the good work. Ned
Thanks Ned, yeah I got a similar impression from the program too! The Hornby 66s is jut a rerelease of an old Tooling, possibly even the old Lima one? I’m not sure about that though! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I think you should take a look at some of the other terriers but I also think you look at Dapol. Yes there much more expensive but based on previous dapol models it should prove the better model. Also the guard irons are wrong on Hornby’s new terrier whilst dapol Dapols are correct. Either way another great review and I’m loving the camera work , I think it’s improved heaps over the past few months. Regards -Harry
Definitely Harry, I’ll certainly be taking a look at the other models! And thanks so much for that, really glad you’ve noticed a difference! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I love those small simple tank engines, I personally think smaller engines have more personality than the bigger engines in my opinion.
Thanks mate, yeah I think they do actually, you’re right!

Very nice little loco, I’ve got the SECR green one on order looking forward to it ! Certainly a lot of Tank locos being produced of late..cheers Ryan
That's great Ryan - I think the SECR green will definitely be the most impressive! That's certainly true! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Al.
Thanks a lot Alan - me too, they look fantastic don't they? That's true though - very reasonably priced!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I had some problems with the pickups too. I had bend mine onto the wheels because it wouldn't move on my American voltage.
Which is something all my other engines are able to do.
Ahh sorry to hear that - yes the quality isn't brilliant really :/
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi Sam, yes a nice little engine, I think Hornby was to quick off the mark , but still a nice one, P.S have run out of birthdays, All the Best Brian 🤗
Thanks Brian - yeah overall a pretty good model, quite pleased with this! Blimey! That doesn't sound like good news?!? :O
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
No joke I saw the video and have never clicked on a video faster, great review Sam I love these terriers
That’s lovely to hear, thanks so much mate!
Cheers,
Sam :)
I'm guessing that the dodgyness of the assembly will be exclusive the BR black version. Just because of the quickness between announcement and release.
And please do get the other liveries. Specifically Stepney.
That's possible - but the other versions are coming very soon too, so we'll have to wait and see! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Duly noted Matt, thank you! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Getting this engine too. Thanks for the review
I’ve been eyeing two Hornby Terriers on Amazon in Southern Green and Leadenhall for under $100. I’m currently leaning towards Leadenhall since it looks like Stepney from TTTE
Ooh fantastic - sounds quite reasonable - good luck if you go for it! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Great video mate, I saw this loco on the BBC 4 documentary. It was very interesting
I hope you enjoyed running it on your great layout.
Thanks very much mate! Yeah me too - it really was interesting! Definitely an enjoyable model! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Impressive model Sam. Hey, I got an idea for you. How about the Norfolk and Western streamlined J Class? It’s as big as Daylight. I just bought one, and it looks great. You should get one too. ;)
Yes! I have seen those actually, they do look very lovely, I'd love to find one! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
That's good to hear - glad yours was much better! Could be - mind you, Rails still don't have theirs out yet!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I'm not too sure about that actually - I'll look it up! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
That model is so tiny it looks so funny pulling all those coaches. And a little fact the coaches it was pulling are the one that were used for the express coaches in Thomas and friends.
haha yeah I agree - it really is tiny!! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Woah! She looks beautiful Sam! I really wanna get one! It's sad I don't have enough money though. Thanks for sharing this to us!
Jack
Ahh not to worry Jack - maybe one day mate?? :D
Glad you enjoyed it,
Sam :)
Hi.I know this was a year ago . Just purchaced the new leadenhall terrier and it seems juddery slow running. Straight from the box I noticed but will give a run in on the rolling road for an hour to see if she improves. Regards matt
Ahh sorry to hear that Matt - I wasn't dreadfully impressed by the quality of these really :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
i really want one of these but im willing to wait and see what rails of sheffields is like to see if it is worth paying the extra money for
Thanks Daniel! That sounds like a good idea, it will be interesting to see how those turn out! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Another model I need to order but only if it is as good as the rails of Sheffield, from Sheffield (great James May joke) versions. I had to buy the GWR shunters truck (fowey one)on Friday because of your great review on it.
Thanks a lot Ben! Yes that's the big question - we'll have to wait and see how that one runs! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
hi sam I just love the look of the terriers and I think that you were a bit to harsh on the overall score and are you going to get the Hornby terrier Stepney in may and when is the next team Thomas vs real life and I love all you videos from david
Hey David, thanks a lot for the comment - what makes you say I was too harsh? Definitely let me know your thoughts!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
The original early BR black is stepney in BR livery numbered 32655
Ooh cool, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Good Evening Sam,
The brand new retooled Hornby A1X Terrier is an excellent model despite some of the detail is made of plastic, the running performance is superb, despite being fast at half speed, I did tell you long time ago, the Terriers are quite speedy Tank Engines back on the LBSCR while hauling commuter trains, the Terrier looks like she's travelling at around 40 miles per hour.
10/10
5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 😉
Thanks very much for this Jordan - ahh yes that's true, I remember you saying that they were speedy! Hope had an awesome time at the Gala - it does sound fantastic! Hope you enjoy your new engine, that sounds brilliant! Thanks again for the comment,
Sam :)
I was really looking forward to this model, and I'm not disappointed! Great review Sam!
That's great to hear mate, I'm not disappointed either! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Everyone wants a Terrier!
I love Terriers although I don't have one! I hope there's an industrial livery one.
Haha absolutely! I’m sure there is, it’s worth double checking though!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thanks very much Valentino - glad you agreed with my points in general, appreciate it mate!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
That is a cracking Terrier! Do I need one at Dean Park?....hmmm I could be persuaded lol. Cheers. Dave
haha!! I'm sure one would fit into Dean Park just perfectly, haha!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Can I say if i did not see the box or the underneath of the model, i would say it was Bachmann, it has that vibe to it.
haha! Yeah it certainly has an air of Bachmann about it ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi Sam I just purchased the SE&CR green version and it’s lovely! Was going to say I can’t find where you are suppose to put the pipe work parts? Any clues
That's great to hear mate - I'm not absolutely sure about that - I don't think mine came with any!! :O
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam'sTrains it was the two plastic bits you pulled out when you opened the box?
Great video mate! Shame there still isn't the character category because this one would score very well! :)
Thanks very much mate! Yeah very true - if I still had the character category, this would have gotten a 5 for sure! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Are you going to review the class 66 just released, I have one on order.
Not the Hornby one sadly, I’m leaning towards the Hattons ones. The Hornby ones are just using an old tooling!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I've always thought that it need an update!!!! My prays have been answered
haha absolutely - they certainly did need an update! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Sam can you do a video on the Union Pacific Big Boy 4014. Because it almost finished with restoration in Cheyenne Wyoming for 150th Anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad.
I'd love that Bonnie - it would have awesome to have! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I really like the Terriers their amazing, and I love their detail
Thanks Corey! Yeah me too - Terriers are lovely! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Yeah I've noticed that too - the old version is noticeably much much higher than this!
Thanks a lot for the comment,
Sam :)
wow this looks and preforms awesome I can’t wait for them to release A1X Stepney
realSponge _o they already released a Stepney from Thomas and friends
Thanks a lot for that mate! Yes Stepney should be awesome! Dahcoolmincrafta BRUH - true they do have a Thomas Stepney already, but that's a very old model - the new Stepney is to represent the real thing! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I was listening to the argument between rails of Sheffield and Hornby. It was quite interesting!!!!!!
haha! Yeah it was very interesting, lol! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Yes it was a very good stress test :)
Will you be doing a three-way comparison between the two Hornby models and the Rails offering when it comes out?
Completely unrelated question.
Why did you built your layout on the floor rather than a table?
Anyway, excellent review as always.
Thanks Warren. If the layout was just for me, it’d be on baseboards by now. But as a good portion of my audience are beginners and children, it appeals to them really well, so I’ve kept it! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Im not sure they could fit sprung buffers with the space on the beam!
That's true - it certainly would be very difficult with this! Not a massive issue I don't think! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Yay finally a new video from Sam!
Thank you! Hope you like it! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
What a wonderful terrier!
Absolutely!! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
You nailed this review. This was March of last year. Did you get otherTerriers? How were they out of the box? Cheers.
Thanks very much Ray - no I never did get any more - I may do though! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thanks Andrew! That does sound awesome - I forgot all about Assassins Creed Syndicate - I'd love to try that!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I think that’s a good lesson- just check over the train before running to see if there are obvious defects in assembly especially where the pickups are concerned.
Yeah absolutely - it's definitely wise to look it over!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I recommend the terrier number 10 SR cowes
Ooh sounds good - I like the look of that! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Are you going to do wagon loads? Btw love your vids.
I hadn't planned on it, it would be fun to try though! Thanks so much for that!
Cheers,
Sam :)
very tempted by this, i was planning on buying the old tooling second hand, but seeing them run i'm not sure which I'd pick, considering the difference in price. does seem like it pays to get a good look at them out of the box before you pick one though.
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
WOW!!! thats so cool!! im gonna look around for one of those!
Thanks a lot mate - there still should be plenty in stock! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Love the review Sam . Might consider getting one . Also where did you get the idea of the E4 and pullmans . Also love the E2s camio
Thanks a lot mate, I think I can recommend this overall! I think someone suggested I do that in a comment - was it you?! :O
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi sam the pick ups are certainly a big issue and sadly do go eventually.... and unfortunately hornby doesnt sell spares so they expect you to return it to them
Yeah I agree - though if they'd just been fitted properly, they wouldn't be a problem! :O
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I agree - I thought the quality problems were well in the past!
Looks really nice, although a few inaccurate details it seams just about spot on.
I now just wonder who's going to win the terrier wars?
Thanks a lot mate! Yes it’s very difficult to say -plenty of room for improvement on this one though, so I’m really interested to see the Dapol one! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Just got myself a second hand GWR 14xx loco for £30. Test it at the shop, had some problems but everything is ok now.
However they don’t have a auto coach for it. Better keep on looking.
Hey Connor, that sounds very good for £30 - great bargain! Hope you're able to find a good autocoach! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam'sTrains thanks.
However i tested it on my layout and it keeps stopping when it goes forward. I cleaned the track and everything
Great and fair review of a beautiful steam loco. But again well known Hornby quality issues.
Thanks a lot Norbert! Yes it's a shame about that - I thought these issues were behind them :/
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Regards
-Harry
Definitely Harry, I’ll certainly be taking a look at the other models! And thanks so much for that, really glad you’ve noticed a difference!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I finally got this model
Awesome! Is it good?! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Sam,s trains can you do a race the e2 vs the terriers please sam
That's a good idea! I could try that one day! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
@@SamsTrains thankyou
The best terrier t I have ever seen
Probably me too! For now, at least! ;D
