  • Hello and Welcome to episode 105 of Trash to Track
In this episode we take a look at a Bachmann class 25 diesel that was sold to Robert ‘running with working lights’ but that turned out not to be the case! Let’s see if we can restore this model to its former glory.
    Thanks for looking.

So glad the lights finally worked. Robert should be well chuffed.

    Hi Dan
Another great video and interesting marking your own PCD board

I got hounded on a certain forum when I said that I had no intentions of upgrading my pair of Bachmann class 25's to the new Heljan class 25 which doesn't have the pulling power of the old Bachmann class 25 like the one you're working on. I got told that the detail on the Heljan class 25 is light years ahead of the old Bachmann one, but haulage power is more important to me than superficial detail which will no doubt come adrift and get lost in time. Are new circuit boards available from Bachmann?, just thinking it would easier than fabricating your own circuit board.
Another job well done Dan and when people buy locos with working lights there should be photos of said loco with the lights on just don't take the seller's word for it.

I could have done but new boards from Bachmann were around £10, that pcb board was £1.50 and serves the same purpose so it was more cost effective.

Dan, that video was most enjoyable. One question, if I may, when you take out the axles and clean them, can you put them back in the wrong way, or have they all isolated? Cheers Bryan

On these models the wheels are isolated both sides on the axels.

Great video, would be interested to know how the lighting was done as I’d like to convert my 25

Great video Dan, i have a hornby class 43 with directional lighting and the lights in the dummy car won't work at all, do you know if this is an easy fix, changing the subject subject i cleaned all our fridge magnets today and used the wifes tooth brush....she didn't seem to notice 😂😂😂😂

Could be, the bulb wires wrap rather feebly around the connecting wires, have a look and see if one has come adrift, otherwise you may need a new bulb, but its an easy job

@@dansmodelrailways7886 I've looked inside it and it's led and circuit board, looks like someone has been in there at some point and tried the put wire's direct to the board, it looks complicated 😬

@@cliveballiston7471 ah, if they’ve put the light feeds direct to the track power, it will have blown the LED’s
