    Absolutely fantastic video. Finally, someone else admires how good Bodmin Moor is, especially the tors. Not all of them are better than Dartmoor's but many are! I think it's little-visited because it's not a national park and because the many fences put people off. Kilmar and Sharp Tors are alpine, and High Rock on the former tor takes my breath away. It's a little-known wilderness and thanks for sharing. ATB Max

      I was more than happy to share this vid Max. Bodmin Moor is stunning. The more people I can get to visit it the quieter that makes Dartmoor for me. Joking aside, I think Si is correct and Kilmar Tor is the Tor of Tor’s. Absolutely fantastic location. Tonnes of flat land can be found way easier that Dartmoor so it’s crying out for wildcamper’s. Just remember, it ain’t legal like Dartmoor! ATB Ant 👍🏻😉

    Nicely filmed Ant , Bodmin looks very nice indeed 👍🏻. I was up a sharp tor on Dartmoor at the weekend but just walking 😎
    Your dog food tea looked very nice and tasty . I like Si casually giving the V whilst scratching his chin at the end lol atb Dave 👍🏻

    Great video. Stewing steak, peas and potatoes, we used to call that tinned stew back in the day. Going to cook that on my first camp after the ‘Rona’ has gone. Stay safe. Hardy

    A good Walkabout that Ant. Up and down it appeared Passed the cheese to sit under something that might just collapse on top of you. Splendid! Naah nice weather and time out with a good man. Hey, your tent was dry. Gotta be rare! Well the moors were looking good. All the best. Mark

    • @mountains_and_moors
      @mountains_and_moors  5 лет назад

      Hi Mark. A dry Akto actually isn’t rare. Was kinda my point when I called lots of Akto users a ‘dick’. Just because you have several zips does not mean you close the thing up tight at night. If you do, you will be sleeping inside a puddle of condensation. Also the foot print helps keep out the wet grass from being inside the tent too. I hope your doing well my good friend, Ant 👍🏻🙂

    Sea lion and/or Seal! Good to see you chaps out and I love how Si puts on a fake Cornish accent for the camera when we who know him know that he truly has a Cockney accent, he really is a proper geezer........

      @mountains_and_moors  5 лет назад +1

      Top marks on the Animal game! If pretending to be Jethro makes him feel more Cornish he’s aloud to keep doing it. Not sure he’s cockney. We walked up many a steep hill and he didn’t mention apples n’ pears!
      Anyway, I ask again. What’s up with the idea you had back several months ago about hiking/camping on the Jurassic Coast??? You up for it???

    The god of love turns folk to stone! LOL Some nice footage in this one Ant. The camera worked well despite the broken screen.As for stoves, Overkill. Sleep mat,Overkill, It's not winter til the winter. I just think you enjoy playing with new kit. I'm the same:)
    I must say though, those were some magnificent tors.
    The magic kettle featured so this video had it all. The stone animal looked like a Seal.
    I thought we were going to see more water filter pumping action going on:)
    I do think Bodmin has nicer Tors. I want to go and see them now.
    The frying pan used to heat food and used as a plate is a good tip. What make of frying pan is that Ant?
    Regarding condensation (still air )in those conditions every tent will condensate.

    • @mountains_and_moors
      @mountains_and_moors  5 лет назад

      Yeah, the first person to play my game and guess the rock animal. I knew you would be one of the silly buggers to reply to that!
      Yes, you gotta treat some nice kit as toys, and that’s why I call em’ toys. Hard-core Si was sleeping on one of those foil reflective thing-a-me’s. Not even a roll mat.
      The frying pan is a GSI 8” pan. Outstanding non stick surface that never gets any cooking oil added. Comes up clean with just a wet wipe.
      As for the condensation, I think all tents will get damp on the inside but I rarely get damp inside the inner/bedroom. Any tent made from a non breathable material should only be fully zipped up in the most worsening of conditions, usually snow. And even then the top door vent should be open.
      We will have to visit here again with you Sandy. I knew you would love this location. ATB Ant

    Good video Ant. I'm a fan of Bodmin Moor without having to decide which has the best tors (NO apostrophe by the way) 😉. Nice to see the Real Brian keeping a fatherly eye on you.
    Noel

    • @mountains_and_moors
      @mountains_and_moors  5 лет назад

      Thanks Noel. Both Moors are great. Like most of us I enjoy being in the outdoors so as long as there are wide open spaces away from city’s, I am generally satisfied. Why choose when we can have them both. Looks like I still need to work on getting better than a Good. I keep scoring a very mediocre ‘C’ , need to work towards an ‘A*’. ATB Ant 👍🏻😉
      BTW, Si was not fatherly, he kept on Looking for places he could get rid of me... permanently!

    Lovely area for walking Ant and trousers are safer than shorts especially if there are ticks around. You don't want them exploring your nether regions. That stone looked a bit like an otter but not as practical as your nifty 'water otter'. It's useful seeing a practical demonstration of new kit so well done.Regards Keith

    • @mountains_and_moors
      @mountains_and_moors  5 лет назад +1

      Hello Keith, You mention ticks in the nether regions, well we have all been there. The first aid kit has them plastic tick removers. Since carrying them I luckily have had little use for them 😧
      As for the water filter, It’s a pump action and I did film myself using it but but had to edit this out as this also looked like I was doing stuff with my neither regions 🤔

    Good to be out and about even if it’s just watching you. How easy is it to get lost and in trouble on Bodmin moors or can any idiot wander around?

    • @mountains_and_moors
      @mountains_and_moors  5 лет назад +2

      I would say it is highly dependant on weather/visibility. Most of what we did was on the outer edge of Bodmin Moor. From the Hurlers to the Cheesewring and Sharp Tor is a well trodden route. If you wanted to do Kilmar, you could park closer to do this on its own. If your familiar with Dartmoor I would say it is similar to doing Cox, Roos or Great Mis Tors. Great Tors that are accessible .That said get the weather wrong and you could easily get in trouble. To see what I mean by this, go watch my last Dartmoor vid when I walk out to Great Mis. The rain was so bad visibility got down to less than 100 feet. As you can see in this vid, on a clear day you can see for miles and miles. Give it a go on a clear day and you should be fine. ATB Ant 👍🏻😉

    • @stevebettany8778
      @stevebettany8778 5 лет назад +1

      ‘The Jinx’ thank you for replying I’ve seen some of you struggling with location before and did wonder.

    • @rialobran
      @rialobran 5 лет назад +1

      @@stevebettany8778 It's far less dangerously easy to get very lost on Bodmin Moor, the north moor has less farms and in theory without a compass could be difficult in bad weather, but a good hour in any direction would bring you to safety. The biggest danger is injury, there are far fewer people hiking on the open moor (especially the north) and phone signal is intermittent.
