    And there’s me wondering whether my next sack should be a 35 litre or a 40!

      This was a rather small set-up. Really enjoyed the minimal weight 👍🏻😉

    Dartmoor was part of my stomping ground in the early 80s, I have lived in Oregon and Illinois for the last 30 years. Love to see such a beautiful part of the world. Cheers!

    What a Magnifycent video Ant. You Jinxed us again with a solar storm this time and I got well radiated:)
    Not even taken my clips off the camera yet. You got there first.
    Magnifycent effort young man:)

      I gotta say Sandy, at the point I said this was the most un-jinxed weather it just got hotter and hotter. It was bound to happen as soon as I opened my mouth. The latter 8 mins in my vid was us walking from one watering hole to the next! I was up late last night. Keen to see what I had managed to capture, especially while out on my own and potentially talking bollocks to the camera! Turned out well I think 🤔

    Subscribed via Wiltshire Man. Glad to see you all emphasising the 'Leave no trace' message. There have been some dreadful reports on the mainstream media in the last few weeks, giving us all a bad name.

      Seems we have turned in to animals during Covid. I have family who live in Weston-super-Mare. With many visitors in past weeks and no public toilets, you can only imagine the state of the beeches with rubbish littering too! I think Foggin Tor would have been a mess once the 17 tents left! ATB Ant 👍🏻😉

    A nice couple of days out there with some nice weather. I keep thinking I know Dartmoor but there’s always more that needs checking out, still I don’t want to use all my fun up in one go! Cheers!

    Great vid. Blue cheese with the rind left on???? Love the lightweight set up. Cadbury’s Picnic - the breakfast of champions. That little tarp is amazing. The weather was superb this weekend. I was up on Inkpen Hill an alternative ridgeway south of Hungerford. Wonderful spot which I’m sure Wiltshire Man has frequented often

    • @mountains_and_moors
      @mountains_and_moors  4 года назад +1

      Eat the rind, to right. Take every damn calorie with this small set-up! Little tarp is way to cool to hang around with me... 113g, fits in the pocket... BUT comes with a price tag. Also got stung on the import duty 😩
      Glad you got out and about too. WM has invited me up your way end of the month... Let’s see what happens!

    Getting quik at these uploads Ant ... liked the look of your shelter a very compact setup I must say , but how the weather (Im guessing friday night) was so different to my camp 400 miles north of you . Good to catch up with fellow campers on a glorious 48 hrs on the moor it did look a bit on the warm side for the others with larger packs lol . Nice work atb Dave

      Thanks Steve, was great to get out as a group n’ have a social. Crap for doing a vid as were all talking in the background or you need to make a silent movie to hide the swearing! Si promised he was going to be a good boy this week and considering I turn up with a ‘Signal Orange’ coloured Bivi I was giving him plenty of ammo for piss taking!

    Hi thanks for sharing, really enjoyed that video 👍 I'm hoping to get down to Dartmoor one day soon as it always looks stunning regardless of the weather. I loved the cook set that you were using, I remember seeing it on your recent garden camp video. I have the same eagle kettle and trangia cookware and I excitedly headed out to my shed to see if I can re-create it for myself. But I was scuppered by the trangia burner as doesn't fit inside my kettle, it's about a millimetre too wide! Never mind though, I still like the frying pan and kettle combo. Ingenious and thanks again

    • @mountains_and_moors
      @mountains_and_moors  4 года назад +1

      Strange as my Trangia does fit. It is snug though. I keep the Trangia burner, mini SAK, Primus lighter and the pan handle inside the kettle. The handle only goes in/out on a specific angle only. The frying pan/handle and burner come from a Trangia Mini. The Triangle lays flat under the pan. Purchased a Trangia strap to hold it all together. Maybe I need to do a little vid on my stoves. ATB, Ant 👍🏻😉

  • @maryandsam2
    @maryandsam2 4 года назад +1

    Very impressive pack that chap! I do love a trangia, I like the triangle...I don't have one I might have to rectify that situation! The ultralite stuff is great, I always have to balance weight, price and functionality (as we all do at varying levels) that's the fun of gear choice though...finding what works well for you! An almost constantly varyng game. Your set up was great!. Good to see you out with the chaps too.

    • @mountains_and_moors
      @mountains_and_moors  4 года назад

      Thanks Sam. I have been advised Trangia have stopped making the Triangle and have a replacement coming out. I know Si take the piss with my Day-Glo Derek gear but I buy them as the garish colours are always on sale and cheaper (and you know I like a brand name!). Kit worked well, that said I am unsure I would use in poor weather. How the hell you would get in the sleeping bag/ Bivi without getting wet is beyond me. Guess more practice is required. Never Bivi’ed until recent! Hope you and Mary are doing well, at least we know she is clean 😜

      Hi Jay. Defo get a 7 black. Awesome little bit of kit and with the 8 out, you should be able to get it for a good price. Hypersmooth does what is says on the tin and the time warp works a treat. I loved the first sun set in this vid. Happy to catch up as long as you slow down them legs 😜

    so 'the Jinx' brings on the good weather now! 20 degrees?! try 32 on the SDW.. fortunately things have calmed down for the next couple of weeks so it might be safe to go out again. great video and loving your packsize.. just need to drag you away from that tonne of metal you call a kettle ;)

    • @mountains_and_moors
      @mountains_and_moors  4 года назад +1

      You maybe supposed that the kettle is only 240g, however the trangia/Triangle and fuel do add up. The pro for me using this set up is that it is almost silent. Initially planned to use my Primus Lite+ but I needed gas! I believe this stove is 390g all in. Way quicker to boil but who’s in a rush on a nice day?!? My usual gas set-up is in last weeks vid and the Lite+ is in the 9 Tor’s vid. 32 degrees requires shade n’ ice cold beer 🍺

      I have a plan! A Parka jacket tied around my waist with a blow-up pillow on one pocket and a packet of corn beef in the other... Although the Parka is likely to be heavier! Honestly, I don’t see me using this set-up in anything but great weather. Not good for a stealth camp... Maybe this could be the challenge! Never ask for permission just ask for forgiveness (if caught). Gained about 5 subs since I left the Moors. Dunno what the Scooby is going on. Way under half of yours subs so don’t worry. Andy V gave us all a shout out!
