But even more shocking are the reasons not said / highlighted ....... Moms will always be more emotionally burden if the child or children fail in modern day society due to substance abuse, failure in life, depression, broken relationships etc etc.

If they're gonna treat motherhood like a job, then pay them for it. Soldiers get pay/respect/awards/opportunities/legendized/statues etc. Women get debt, scrutiny, fewer opportunities and a lifetime obligation.

I'm not really an advocate of abortion, but I don't understand why women are vilified and punished for their choices when it takes two to make a baby. Male workers should not be paid more than female workers because some men have families and mothers to support. Patriarchal structures have profited from women’s free labor for centuries. Now that women are wising up and making better choices for themselves en masse, the authoritarians and profiteers don’t want to lose their free ride. Yup! Having kids, esp multiple kids, greatly increases the chance of women staying home, which is exactly where they want & need us! When women stay in the private sphere, they benefit from way more free labor & much less competition in the workforce.
Sadly, quite a few women fall victim to propaganda and the idea that motherhood is their main virtue and worth so reject male-female equality efforts. I'd guess that's called the Patriarchy. Some American women feel threatened by women that are educated and work alongside men, while they stay home to have 3 or more children so won't unite with working women, but attack them.
When I hear things like this and what's going on with women's rights and women's rights to do what they want with their own bodies. It's really reminding me of the handmaid's tale. I'm sure people that have read the books or watched the show think it's too extreme to ever happen. Nowadays it's getting too close to reality.

Weak men in powerful positions get really really emotional when they aren't the ones being able to make babies. My BF can't even watch the Handmaid's Tale with me it upsets him too much. The consequences of these laws is that many health care professionals, as well as teachers ARE leaving these states!!! Good luck finding health care or good teachers!!! YOU GET WHAT YOU VOTE FOR!!! I am working on moving.
But I will have to leave literally my entire support system.
I will have to leave my job and get a new job.
I will have no friends or family for a long time that are within driving distance.
I will need to establish myself with a new doctor.
I will need to find a new place to live, along with first two months of rent and out of state moving costs.
Please do not abandon your blue sisters in red states. We are trying. We do not all have resources.

When authoritarians start worrying about the plummeting birth rate, take this as a sign not for alarm for us in the public, but as gov't actually worried about their economy. That's all it is! Overpopulation, climate change, unwanted children, are huge problems that affect the general population. We do NOT need more children. This is purely economic greed on the gov'ts of the world. I'm proudly childfree. I have a savings cushion and not facing homelessness. Still, it's a struggle being a single person with the housing costs and other rising prices.

Agree. I chose not to marry and not to have any children. As a result, I am financially fit enough to support myself in retirement, own my home and will, unless I live to be 100 or so, have some money left to go to my local humane society, It isn't going to any of my nieces, nephews or their children, they'll have to take care of themselves, just like I did.

Yes it needs reworked(Unfortunately everyone screams if you bring that up)but short of that it's the system we have and most likely will have for the foreseeable future. There’s plenty of miserable parents around. This is coming from someone who grew up in a family of 14. I’m 24. Having children doesn’t guarantee anything, so I don’t know where this misconception keeps coming from.

I do know plenty of people WITH children who are miserable, mostly the women who got talked / bullied into having kids by family and partners who then left most of if not the entire burden of raising the children on the women. All because of a selfish belief that women should have children so they won’t “die alone”. Bringing life into the world you don’t even want, just so you’ll have a caretaker and companionship in old age is wild.
What created a small baby boom in Quebec was the $10 a day daycare. A full year of maternity leave. 5 weeks paternity leave. Women can take a leave of absence from their job and still keep their position until their youngest child enters kindergarten.
There was also a slight rise in birth rates due to the pandemic as well, if I remember correctly. Thanks to people being able to work flexibly from the comfort of their homes, reduced work related expectations.

I raised three children on my own after my divorce. I honestly don't know how I did it. If I had to do it now, it would be impossible, and I make far more money than I did during my child raising years. My hopes for grandchildren looks grim. My children are concerned they won't be able to afford a family, and they honestly do well for earnings. It just looks so scary to them😢
My children are adults now too and have decided not to have children because of the cost of raising them. And they’re employed and earning decent salaries.

2 of my 3 children have already permanently sterilized themselves before they were 25 and the third one who is 23 is already making appointments and saving money to do the same. My children know they can never afford kids so they took steps to save themselves the trauma of not being able to properly pay for children. My middle daughter was forced to carry a baby with no brain to full term and then watch her suffocate to death. She never wants to be forced to go through that again. She wasnt offered any counseling or support and doesnt qualify for affordable health care because she has a job. Her job doesnt offer anything other than paperwork to apply for foodstamps and medicaid. My other daughter and my son were traumatized watching their sister go through that and have decided to never be forced into having children. My family line has come to a dead stop because there is zero support for families, children, communities and even 2 working parent homes cant put food on the table anymore. It's absolutely depressing.

Most people do not make enough money to feed and house themselves. My grandkids are child bearing age and informed me years ago that there would be no more babies. They want to enjoy life without worrying about how to pay for childcare, medical expenses and education. If the filthy rich need more kids to work for poverty level incomes, let them have them. I couldn't agree with them more. They are 25 and 30, so I can't say they will never have any, but they protect themselves well. Sadly, millions of people will never even own their own home in this country, let alone become financially stable.

Women should not be expected to have children they don't want or can't afford. Period.
There's also the physical risks that come with pregnancy and child birth, and the US leads the world in maternal fatality rates for a developed country. Pregnancy can cause all sorts of health issues that can last well past the birth of the child, sometimes your entire life. So every time the mother has a baby she's risking permanently disabling herself, or possibly even dying. You'd have to do a lot more than offer a 'bonus' to counterbalance those risks when the alternative is just not having kids, not putting yourself at risk, and not putting a huge strain on your finances for the next couple of decades at least.
After my first pregnancy my bladder was destroyed. I have been uncontrollably peeing on myself for 20 years. It's fun..they should try it out and see how much it changes their entire life. I never leave my home. I have no friends or social life. I was pretty stuck wearing a diaper 24/7 from age 18 on. I had 6 miscarriages because my uterus was destroyed. I nearly died during my last pregnancy and had to get an emergency c-section to stop mass bleeding 2 months before the baby was due. My daughter had to carry a baby with no brain for 9 months and was so suicidal I had her under my watch 24/7 until the baby was born and we watched her die. But ya, we should just happily try to pop out 6-8 canon fodder factory slaves for some rich guys to hold onto excess power and wealth while simultaneously not giving women any financial, moral, medical, or social support. sounds fair.

I am a mom of 5 and no, most should NOT have that many. Not with the current climate of unaffordability, lack of social safety net, continued difficulty of mothers to get into/back to careers. If they want women to have more babies, make it easier! Affordable housing and childcare (as well as senior care), public healthcare incl mental health and dental care, quality schools, etc etc. I am one of five and have five and it is so much harder in this generation vs the previous. Why WOULD women want to have many children?

A friend recently had a baby. It was an average pregnancy however, the baby had complications and had to stay in NICU for 3 days after the birth. My friend had a hospital bill of over $40,000. A lot of young women I know are having permanent sterilization procedures. They just don't want kids.
Men who want eight children need to stay home alone and raise them on their wife' nursing home job salary. Yeah, right!
