That and Jamie was racing his old car, not the (then) new one. It had just come out of the spray booth prior to this outing: it was the old "TeamVodafone" Commodore, affectionally known as Kate.
AG Coarseman I know that an F1 car is faster, but in any case we all agree tht that race was ufair. The other 2 drivers were driving their own race cars, but Stoner was riding a stock bike.
that may be the case but with two cars geared up for racing vs an almost stock production bike. Does kinda seem a little bit unfair in all honesty. I would have thought they'd give him a race bike against race cars, just a thought
DoubleC its a good handling bike, but that fireblade is no where near is good as those other bikes, especially the r1. the new r1 has put itself on a new bar
even if you put the fastest Moto GP bike, it will still lose against F1 car, with a HUGE GAP.. I mean, come on we all know that F1 car is too much.. With the downforce, and the cornering ability,, simply nothing can beat them (unless you put a dragster vehicle, in a straight lane)
A bike will win everytime on acceleration however the car will win all the time on tracks. You can brake late ,enter a corner faster as well. One thing to note should have given casey a true blue motogp bike.
Maybe they thought they can suspend reality. I don't really know but it is Top Gear and we probably shouldn't take it too seriously just laugh and enjoy the show. It isn't a real proper comparison.
It's all about the braking, downforce and the contact patches of the F1 car that makes it faster than a MotoGP bike. An F1 car can corner much more quickly than a MotoGP bike because of the downforce and the contact patch of the tires is many times larger.
I agree with you on that. In fact most of the guys who commented here about MotoGP bikes winning agree that the F1 Car would still be the first but the Supercar's lap time would be way too slow.
@AYE OK SURE Mate what are you on about? A Blancpain car is faster than a British super bike around brand's hatch, a GT3 car is faster around Silverstone than a moto GP bike and there are several production car's that spank a bike around the nurburgring. That's just naming 3 track's. Put hyper car's around those track's and it would be the same result. Maybe you do some research about lap times before commenting. A bike is quick but a car is quicker around most track's! BTW a F1 car is 40 seconds quicker than a GP bike not 10-20.
@@TypeRTeg That’s not true for all tracks as on Mugello a purchasable Ducati can get a 1:52 while a Mclaren 675LT, a car costing twice as much, got a 2:04.
Haha, that's cute. Indeed the Chiron would run a higher top speed than a F1 car. They tried it on the Circuit de la Sarthe, and it did run faster than the LMP cars. But seriously, even the Veyron runs a higher top speed. But as soon as the first corner comes up, the F1 car blows both out of the water. The weight of a Bugatti engine alone weighs as much as the entire F1 car.
It's amazing to see just how dominant an F1 car is... Nothing even comes close to it! Would have been a more interesting race if the bike, super-car and the F1 were tuned up and actually running at their full potential (because they clearly weren't). Anyway, wouldn't mind seeing a race with the new turbo F1 2014 car...
Are you joking me ? That was an OEM CBR1000RR with 190HP hardly fair .. Put Casey on a FULL 240 RWHP GP BIKE. Neither car was street legal the bike is a street legal CBR outfitted for the track. SMH. H.T.V. Blu your thoughts ?
I struggle to see the point really. If anything all this shows is whay an amazing thing a motorcycle is. Despite the fact this is a demonstration really not a race, the fact that a street legal, standard Fireblade has the measure of a V8 race car says much about the value of motorcycles. Still, if they wanted a comparison, surely it should've been the MotoGP machine?
But if we must compare then either F1 v MotoGP or 165hp car v fireblade or £12k Ford v this motorcycle. Any which way you rub it - price, horsepower or 'ultimate' the bike wins in reality. As I said above, all this shows is just how good a standard £12k bike is - they need a multi million pound car and team of technicians to _just_ beat it!
H.T.V. Blu The reason cars are more expensive is because they cost a shit ton more to make (more materials, more manufacturing time, more design time) I'd also like to point out that if the V8 had started in front the bike would never have got past. You could see from the onboard that Whincup was having to ease off behind the bike so he didn't just plough into the back of Stoner. Cars are naturally faster around corners, because the weight is in the middle of the two sets of wheels. On a bike, you only have one set of wheels and the mass of the rider isn't anywhere near being above them when cornering. You see this on the Nurburgring a lot - a fast hatchback will corner faster than a road going superbike around any track, so they get held up by bikers who don't bother checking their mirrors because they think they are the fastest things on the road. Bikes are fast in a straight line, cars are fast around corners.
Top Gear should start reviewing more lesser known cars rather than always doing the well known "poster cars." Would be a nice challenge to see a smaller company versus larger. I'd personally like to see a review of the 'Falcon F7' :p
+Niyas Yasin You were watching a top gear episode, offcourse it was biased and unfair. Thing is they make it funny and interesting, not real and statistically correct.
Why could anybody even compare MotoGP to F1 or even cars to motorcycles in general? I love both, but I will say it takes more balls to race a bike then a car.
I think rallying takes more balls to be honest, GP and F1 require super reflexes but the trucks nowadays are mostly safe, and crushes happen daily in that world and most of the time are harmful. A rally truck is rougher, if you crash there you may be falling off a mountain or a cliff, or hugging a tree. If i was given the chance to drive a gp bike or a F1 car I would try, no way I'm driving a rally car in a rally truck, you delay your braking one half of a second and you're not out of the track, you're out of existence.
What everyone failed to mention is that the motorcycle in this clip is street-legal and will be incredibly more reliable than the other two on the way to work. To put it on here to race these two cars is the same as putting a Corolla there, which costs the same as that bike btw.
A motogp bike would wreck the v8 supercar, but wouldn't even come close to an F1 car. The fastest lap in 2013 motogp at laguna seca was 1:21.176 The lap record at laguna seca was set by a formula 1 car at 1:05.786 That's 15 seconds faster.
You Guys, who think a bike or any other car can come close to a F1 Car! Have to be insane. You obviously don't understand the Dynamics!!!. The bike cannot put down full power on the track because the front wheel will lift off the ground, the bike can't brake as late as a F1 Car, bike can't corner as quick as a F1, neither any other car. F1 is in a class by itself...
are moto gp bikes really that faster than this bike, the supercar is much faster in the corners than any bike i think, the F1 car is in a class of it's own
a lot of the people in the comments clearly dont have a car or a bike yet act like they represent F1 or motogp or v8 supercars, just appreciate each sport for what they are and the skill involved
fun fact about the two cars. one relies on aerodynamic downforce. the other relies on mechanical grip. this is two different approaches to getting a vehicle around a corner fast.
This is obviously a staged event with a predefined script. Having said that I do recognize that the F1 would have most likely been the winner in "real race". However, it is unfortunate that Stoner came to a gun battle with an off the shelf knife. Had he been provided a Motogp bike he would have been lighter, would have had considerable more grip thanks to state of the art electronics which would have allowed for more acceleration, braking and lean - and would have had in the area of another 90hp. Still believe the F1 would win, but this fun little clip is a bit disappointing to us bike fans because it was so lop sided with a show room bike.
However, it demonstrated that the stock bike was quicker than the V8 Supercar in a straight line. It was a scripted event so it didn't demonstrate real potential of any of the vehicles except that the F1 was massively quicker on a circuit.
***** You don't get it do you? Put your ignorance to the side for a second, obviously the F1 won there's no doubt there, but you put a supercar AND F1 against a road bike..stock with only exhaust mods.Let the bike be a SBK or MotoGP where they average 250-280 hp WITH LESS WEIGHT.Should be embarrassing that a full out race car barely beat a street legal vehicle.
F1 would still beat a superbike, or any bike for that matter, cars can transfer weight and F1's generate incredible ammounts of downforce = faster cornering. F1's can pull 4G in corners, and have a power to weight ratio of about 1.17BHP/1Kg A MotoGP bike is faster in accerelation tough, but only to a certain speed, and than the F1 will beat the moto GP in speed too. Moto GP is harder tough.
***** yes professor thanks for the science lesson in thinking i am a moron, a GP bike bike out performs a F1 car on straights by a lot, which is why they did not use one. A motoGP bike reaches over 350km/h down a long straight where as an f1 car can only reach 300kmh and it takes longer for it to get there.

I'm very surprised with how well the Holden started off the line and could keep up with the RBR for a few meters. Didn't expect that.
Give Stoner a real MotoGP bike!
it wouldnt be any different
I agree with you. The F1 car is a beast. But it would have been a great race between him and the supercar
That and Jamie was racing his old car, not the (then) new one. It had just come out of the spray booth prior to this outing: it was the old "TeamVodafone" Commodore, affectionally known as Kate.
Race:
1st place - F1
2nd Place - V8 Supercar
3rd Place - Bike
Burnout Comp:
1st Place - V8 Supercar
2nd Place - F1
3rd Place - Bike
Thats just a standard superbike, not a GP bike. A GP bike is pushing 250bhp.
+Sam Grattan
and is much lighter... ;)
+AG Coarseman I know the bike will lose against a F1 car, however it seems a tad biased to put a F1 car against a road going bike.
AG Coarseman
I know that an F1 car is faster, but in any case we all agree tht that race was ufair. The other 2 drivers were driving their own race cars, but Stoner was riding a stock bike.
+AG Coarseman
A fast road bike vs the ariel atom 500 would be interesting imo.
+Sam Grattan the bias wasnt their concern. the race was for entertainment
GREAT ACTION, THE AUDIENCE DESERVED THIS AMAZING SHOW.
BIG THANKS TO THE 3 DRIVERS.
😎💥💥💥👊
Loved the race. Doesn't matter if it wasn't a factory bike, still felt damn good to see Casey on his bike. We miss u at moto gp Casey
That was pretty epic.
Them going over the line together was the real "We race as one".
I like how chilled out aussies are
Casey wasn't even on a MotoGP bike, he was on a bike that i could walk down to my local dealership and buy, nowhere near a MotoGP bike
yes cause motogp got like 260hp compared to that street legal bike.
H2R has 300+ hp
@@kangarojack3814 no one asked? and out of context?
It would make very little difference to the f1 car, even if the bike was a moto gp bike.
@@barrysargent1213 but it would smoke the other one.
Why a Fireblade? Why not use something like a R1, BMW 1000rr or a Panigale something
or a motogp bike would be a fairer comparison
Because in stock form the Fireblade is maybe better than all those you listed?
If you saw any of the Superstock races you would realise how wrong that is lol... They should have give him his RCV-213 or now the Desmo :p
that may be the case but with two cars geared up for racing vs an almost stock production bike. Does kinda seem a little bit unfair in all honesty. I would have thought they'd give him a race bike against race cars, just a thought
DoubleC its a good handling bike, but that fireblade is no where near is good as those other bikes, especially the r1. the new r1 has put itself on a new bar
2 Race cars againts a production bike. so fair
well judging by the end result it was a fair race
Naufal Irsyad the F1 would have dominated anyways
plus...the slowest superbike,cbr1krr is my favorite but THE SLOWEST
even if you put the fastest Moto GP bike, it will still lose against F1 car, with a HUGE GAP.. I mean, come on we all know that F1 car is too much.. With the downforce, and the cornering ability,, simply nothing can beat them (unless you put a dragster vehicle, in a straight lane)
F1 completed 5 laps faster than the bike & v8 supercar completed 4 laps. I think it’s fair enough
In fact most of the guys who commented here about MotoGP bikes winning agree that the F1 Car would still be the first but the Supercar's lap time would be way too slow.
phisics
@@TypeRTeg Also bikes haven’t been ridden around the Nurburgring in ages.
come-on you can't beat a F1 car by any other car or bike except a fighter plane....🤔
Fighter plane doesn't have enough downforce...
that's the nascar not supercar
I could out run the F1 😉😂😂
Haha, that's cute. Indeed the Chiron would run a higher top speed than a F1 car. They tried it on the Circuit de la Sarthe, and it did run faster than the LMP cars. But seriously, even the Veyron runs a higher top speed.
But as soon as the first corner comes up, the F1 car blows both out of the water. The weight of a Bugatti engine alone weighs as much as the entire F1 car.
@cern iter you are either trolling or have no idea what you are talking about...
This is bloody great, I'd love to see more of this kind of stuff please.
That race was not fair, there's one car missing two wheels
Not a GP bike, but still fun to watch. I enjoyed this.
This is basically Project Gotham in real life. Totally awesome. :)
See as said before above ^^
But if we must compare then either F1 v MotoGP or 165hp car v fireblade or £12k Ford v this motorcycle.
Any which way you rub it - price, horsepower or 'ultimate' the bike wins in reality.
As I said above, all this shows is just how good a standard £12k bike is - they need a multi million pound car and team of technicians to _just_ beat it!
H.T.V. Blu The reason cars are more expensive is because they cost a shit ton more to make (more materials, more manufacturing time, more design time)
I'd also like to point out that if the V8 had started in front the bike would never have got past.
Ever heard about isle of man?
And all we need is ken blocks V8 Mustang!
I'm smiling from ear to ear watching this
This is majestic AF!!!
Actually the F1 car could have easily doubled the other two...that's how impressive those machines are
Top Gear should start reviewing more lesser known cars rather than always doing the well known "poster cars." Would be a nice challenge to see a smaller company versus larger. I'd personally like to see a review of the 'Falcon F7' :p
welp Top gear died
That's not a supercar.. that's like a sedan
Look up the series "V8 Supercars"
Put them in a drag race..MotoGP bike will beat them hands down in straight line
this was actually an awesome video
Nope. It was biased and unfair.
That was pretty incredible and very fun to watch! Thanks for posting this! =)
What everyone failed to mention is that the motorcycle in this clip is street-legal and will be incredibly more reliable than the other two on the way to work. To put it on here to race these two cars is the same as putting a Corolla there, which costs the same as that bike btw.
Man this looks like it was great fun. I never knew just how quick F1 cars were compared to other cars.
And the F1 car wasn't even going full throttle
Lets have 2 production cars vs a motogp bike next time.
Put him on a Ducati MotoGP bike...he would destroy the car and keep up with the F1.
A Ducati Gp bike can't even beat other MotoGP bikes. What makes you think it will keep up with an F1 car?
ONLY casey stoner won the world champ with Ducati....
A motogp bike would wreck the v8 supercar, but wouldn't even come close to an F1 car.
The fastest lap in 2013 motogp at laguna seca was 1:21.176
The lap record at laguna seca was set by a formula 1 car at 1:05.786
That's 15 seconds faster.
Are you stupid? a moto GP would get lapped too. F1 cars make any bike look like a joke
F1 is in a class by itself...
are moto gp bikes really that faster than this bike, the supercar is much faster in the corners than any bike i think, the F1 car is in a class of it's own
The bike that Stoner used in the video has 190hp at 198kg.
To put it in perspective, the Honda RC213V MotoGP bike is ~160kg and pumps out over 230hp.
2021 : Honda RC213V and Marc Marquez.
a lot of the people in the comments clearly dont have a car or a bike yet act like they represent F1 or motogp or v8 supercars, just appreciate each sport for what they are and the skill involved
Give Stoner a MotoGP bike and this would be a different story. The F1 would still crush of course, but that ol' V8 might not do so well :)
As long as it's a straight line MotoGP crushes F1 all day
The unreal scream of that f1 car
*Skips to end of video*
Holy shit the v8 car won !!!
May be we should try with an h2r ?
that finishing line was just legendary!
is that just a road bike that is covered in stickers?
Yes
Dave Meese yes
its a road bike wow how fast is that off the line !
Facts , he should’ve been in a gp bike 🏍
Where's Stoners MotoGP bike ?
fun fact about the two cars. one relies on aerodynamic downforce. the other relies on mechanical grip. this is two different approaches to getting a vehicle around a corner fast.
As bikers, James and Richard could've planned this a lot better. A Fireblade? Really? -.-
960 HP/ton vs 450 HP/ton vs 1168 HP/ton :P
This is obviously a staged event with a predefined script. Having said that I do recognize that the F1 would have most likely been the winner in "real race". However, it is unfortunate that Stoner came to a gun battle with an off the shelf knife. Had he been provided a Motogp bike he would have been lighter, would have had considerable more grip thanks to state of the art electronics which would have allowed for more acceleration, braking and lean - and would have had in the area of another 90hp. Still believe the F1 would win, but this fun little clip is a bit disappointing to us bike fans because it was so lop sided with a show room bike.
Agreed... the F1 car wouldnt have been able to overlap him if he had a motogp bike, but I think it would've still won by about 10 seconds
Dont cry because your stupid bike lost.
John Lam Bikes are the worst shit ever invented. Happy now? :)
Did they use a 1000cc sport bike instead of a superbike so it didnt make the f1 look bad?
F1 would still beat a superbike, or any bike for that matter, cars can transfer weight and F1's generate incredible ammounts of downforce = faster cornering. F1's can pull 4G in corners, and have a power to weight ratio of about 1.17BHP/1Kg
A MotoGP bike is faster in accerelation tough, but only to a certain speed, and than the F1 will beat the moto GP in speed too.
*****
maybe a 2006 f1 car would beat a motoGP bike but not a new one...
roflcopterkklol The V6 F1's (with the right setup and depending on the manifacturer) can reach close to 360kp/h
roflcopterkklol
This season Ricciardo managed 361 on Monza, just saying...
Why is Stoner on a street bike? Idk if top gear knew this or not, but motogp bikes dont have headlights for starters
super car and f1: doing donuts
Motorbike: -_-
F1 car vs a heavily modified / tuned racing car vs a 20.000$ stock street bike. Well seems fair to me XD
F1 Car: *big ol' cloud o'smoke*
Supercar: *big ol' cloud o'smoke*
Bike: *lil' puff o'smoke*
Stock bike vs two race prepared cars?Fair?BS.
Love how the bike dude said at the end ....
I can't burn out too !!! VaaaaarrrrrRrrrrRRrrrrROoooooom!
1:51 that honestly makes me curious how the current hybrid F1 cars could match that bike's acceleration from a stand still, like in this video.
