You know, I'm starting to think this zone was scrapped cuz the devs were too lazy to work on it (I mean, It's identical in all prototypes) and just gave up on it VERY early.
Even in the earliest (known) prototype, there's evidence it had been left unchanged for longer than the other zones. The presence of Tails' 1-up monitor instead of a Sonic one is a result of that object's ID originally belonging to the 1-up monitor from the first game and the stage not being updated after this change was made.
@@harrybest2041 I have a VERY strong feeling that they just had 0 faith in the zone but kept it just in case they change their mind. Then they just... finally decided to cut it and they're probably happy. It Is a shame tho, cuz I'd love to see the original super sonic cutscene (still waiting for rom hacks to do this) but oh well. Also... what leaked prototype?
No, silly! Lol. This is just an edit to make the letterboxing less boring for sections that have hack gameplay in them. Better than just a plain vertical letterbox, am I right? Besides, all gameplay footage was actually recorded with OBS. The emulator I used is KEGA Fusion.

thats literally the song, if you use a game genie or something like that, to load up hidden palace (in the final sonic 2) it plays track 10.
The August prototype uses the 2P Mystic Cave song for Hidden Palace
