I used to run a 25 watt Galaxy Saturn with a Texas Star 667V. I loved the radio but they were quirky back then. I did a lot of mods to it to improve the receive and AM TX audio. I like the idea of this radio going from 12 thru 10 meters. When i had just my Tech license I was limited to 10m voice. It was nice to have a 11 meter station too to fill in the gap. Ham radios are great on 11m for SSB but they dont have good AM audio.
Yeah this is Bob like I left my phone number there it's a satellite phone in government phones they pay for it now I use it so now I'd rather use the radio
I'm currently looking at several different radios but I've never owned any that have SMT. From what little I heard of the AM receive on that radio seemed to have a fairly low noise floor. I no longer own a Cobra 2K but I've had a few and I must say their receive when working properly definitely spoiled me. Almost no white noise at all. I can say the same about the old DAK 9's and 10's as well. One of the main reasons I didn't like some of the first SMT radios when they first came out years ago was because their receive to me was horrible. Sounded more like being in FM mode on AM. I hope that these manufacturers are finally getting these radios refined to the point that the recieve section is quieter. Thanks Rooster for this video and anyone else feel free to chime in with their own opinions or experiences.
I'm glad I waited, This is what I want. Why does nobody use swr for tuning, high power maybe $900 radio, but I like other meters too, just never seen done,
is there a way to lock this unit in 11 meters, have a vision impaired friend that has this unit and everytime he turns it off, it reverts back to 10 meters when turned back on. i would like to be able to lock it for him so he's in 11 meters all the time.
@@Rooster_Radio purchased from a local radio shop, it has the new solid state board, all components are soldered on top of the board and not through soldered.
@@Haxsaw67 I'm aware of the radio lol. I've probably sold two dozen of them. But that's the issue. If the shop deals directly with Ranger, ranger will send it to them. Otherwise ship it off to superior for warranty
I agree but I've heard several HF rigs that sound horrible on AM in the 11 meter band. I think some rigs are intentionally built that way so you won't attempt using them for a CB transceiver. Correct me if I'm missing it somewhere.
@@PhoenixRising251 Sure. I admit 11m AM is not a consideration for me. No local activity at all. Shit... you can buy a yaesu 710 or 7300 from icom for 50 bucks more than this ranger. Really close in similar liking to the Galaxy Saturn Turbo, minus the echo.awesome radio !
Peace and Blessings 👍🙏✝️💯❤️🇺🇸
Sweet base unit right there!!!
Do you have anymore of them
Just love how they still using the old Galaxy Saturn base radio cases.
Does this model also come with the 11 meter chip upgrade in the box?
Comes with everything that it would come with straight from Ranger. I don't remove anything from the box or radio when a brand new radio is purchased
Good pricing Rooster! Thanks for the video!!
Yeah I wouldn't mind having one of them if you got time to call me

Nice one!
does this new 2995 come with the mike with the up & down buttons or SRA-198 or the Galaxy stock mike ?
Very nice radio 🎅🏻

Meter on radio I mean
How much does one cost and how can I buy one
Little more information about this including price complete. Rainmaker here Hudson Valley NY 😀 waving
Price is on the website
10-4
I wish it had the echo switch. Unless the echo is still in and they just dont have a switch.
I use a general stonewall jackson. I assume this has more power than that?
2995 don't have echo, just like a 2950/2970
@@Rooster_Radio so its basically a "plug into the wall" version of the 2970 n2 (or n4?)

I did hear u say u need a 35 W power supply.the description on the radio says AC ready does it work on both AC and DC? Sorry if its a stupid question.

You can buy a nice HF rig for the same money or just there abouts.
This radio will outperform an HF rig 2-1 on AM
