It has a semi solid 133 kwh pack version with 621 miles (1000 km) of range in CLTC cycle . meaning it has 1200km(740 miles)of urban range and 800 km(500 miles) of highway 75mph(120kph)speed range which is mind bending meaning you have to charge your ev every 2 weeks with 400 kw charging power.i hope we will be able to buy these evs inside U.S.kyle please do a range test with it
That is the version coming next year right? The one with the semi-solid-state battery and 400kW of charging power. The one tested must have been a different one
Keep in mind that the CLTC cycle is extremely optimistic and does not translate to any other efficiency cycle in the world. So while the range is likely still impressive, it likely isn't 740 miles (1,190.91 km) of city range or 500 miles (804.67 km) of highway range. It would likely be closer to something like 400 to 500 miles (804.67 km) city range and 400 miles (643.74 km) highway range.
It is their inherent advantage of very bad emissions and safety regulations, access to nearby natural resources, and the full might of the communist government to ensure low wages and poor working conditions. If people thought the anti-union Tesla is bad, BYD, Xiaomi are worse.
The Crab Walking seems to be an interesting feature for the future in order to change between lanes and do certain maneuvers that will be necessary. I mean, I see cars moving in a different way we are definitely not used to. I see a potential there if they keep going with this and improve the technology. You can do anything with electric cars. China is leading the way of normalization and democratization of technology.
There is a reason the Xiaomi SU7 is selling 4x the number of the IM L6 per month. It's a much more "conservative", yet advanced and well thought after car than the IM. Kyle is sort of getting it: the Chinese _consumers_ are not unlike their average American counterparts, who care less about software gimmicks than space, comfort and driving dynamics. It's the manufacturers that are being overtly pushy with the "tech features" (thank you, Elon) in order to impress, and with the enormous success of the SU7 sinking in, are just beginning to realize the demand on the ground and dialing all the gimmicks down a bit.
Couldn't resist the Tesla dig? Which "Tech features" do you have a problem with that are on the Tesla but not the Xiaomi? (and before you go "there" I'm on my second Xiaomi phone so the usual "get out" won't work)
@rogerstarkey5390 Nothing personal mate. But the yoke and the overall "do away with physical controls" idea are definitely Tesla-inspired. Then some of these Chinese automakers would tell themselves that hey, why don't we double down and beat Tesla in its own game - like getting rid of door handles altogether and throwing absolutely everything behind just the screen and voice control. The Xiaomi on the other hand appeared to have taken their time, thanks to their late entry into the EV scene, to observe and figure out what average, not the tech lovers, but average, usually ICE-stuck Chinese consumers do and do not want in an EV. You don't see any of the aforementioned quirks in the SU7 - heck, even the glove box actually has a handle. I assume you are aware of the optional underscreen gadget that can give you several extra buttons and a knob, which IMO is the perfect example of the direction they're going. Yet the vehicle is still fully software defined (they've just released a major OTA addressing the infamous "brake issue", or lack of regen when the ABS is active) with everything properly connected by voice command. I see more automakers will eventually reach a middle ground. Ergonomics (for the mortals) and smart features don't necessarily have to be at odds when it comes to an EV.
One of the interesting aspects of the Chinese versus the US market is the technology available. I just saw a video on the Li Auto L9 and from a features perspective it is something I would want to buy but not available in the US market. Why can't we produce something like that? I drive a GMC Sierra EV but would definitely jump at a L9.
And you are not even digging into advance battery tech. CATL says solid state by 2026 and unlike Elon they don't lie. That means the truck you are driving will be weighing 1/3 as less and 500mi easily on anything.
@rogerstarkey5390 more like late 2000s. BYD was/is vendor for Apple iPhones. Then the latest leadership (political) approved investors to acquire CATL in 2015. That company has 10,000 material science PHDs now. That's how you advance in batteries.
This one is the normal not semi-solid state battery version. The solid state one is coming in Q1 2025 with 133kwh. Currently bottlenecked at charging speed (you don’t want 80kw@50%SOC right?)😂

The central display looks excellent - it’s actually integrated into the interior, rather than an iPad hanging off the dashboard and blocking the view. If this car had a purely driver-focused display (or heads up on the screen), I think it would be an improvement.
The EVs can only get better from here! Imagine in five years, FSD, better software and apps, and faster charging, better technology and higher reliability for components.
Bruh, we literally reached video game level of performance customization on a car with EV's, it feels I'm in the Need For Speed garage tuning my ride, its ridiculous and i love it 😂. But i think we need to be reserved, talking about FSD likes its some little software when in reality its years of machine learning. So unless this company did the same in China i doubt it will be anywhere similar to FSD in terms of capabilities.
I'm really enjoying the review and coverage of Chinese EVs on the channel thank you. Most of the features on the IM L6 are just OK except I really like the extra power over a M3P and the rear steer. I think rear steer is exceptionally beneficial especially in urban settings and for Europe where these will hit the market sooner but it helps with parking and handling while feeling more secure. The hatch area and rear view out of the tiny rear window would be a deal killer for me. I think in a couple years or with some western focused updates these cars will be serious contenders even for the most jaded.
Thank you for your meticulous reviews. Would you please start using your iPhone to measure sound intensity in dB when you are benchmarking ride quality between different car models.

He keeps quoting US prices for the model 3 but Chinese prices for the Chinese car. Which is weird because you can go the Tesla website and set it to China to see what the model 3 goes for in China. The base model is ~$32k. The performance is ~$46k.
It does look nice, but having a screen across the entire dash from left to right and another screen in the middle would be extremely distracting. Your attention is pulled in to many directions at once. Does it have one pedal driving? Regenerative breaking? Why would you need to keep using the brake pedal? Where is the map on the screen?
You made a quick comment about government subsidies. They're huge in China, you need to research that plus they totally skewed the market by putting huge registration fees like $5,000 or more on ICE cars basically forcing Chinese consumers to buy EV's and driving all the foreign automakers out of China except for Tesla. This just happened this year. All the people commenting that this is how the market should be and we should be able to buy these cars in the US now need to think about this. Economic strength equals military strength so what you're really saying folks is you're supporting a Taiwan invasion and China completely taking over the South China Sea and all the countries surrounding that. Including Japan. This is why Trump is going to tariff the crap out of them. China is not our friend!
They look like they are in Irvine-Tustin, CA. Not the best launch areas unless you can get onto the toll roads. Great car comparison. Chinese cars would dominate here in the U.S.
People like to say Teslas have "minimalist" interiors. In reality, they are just cheap looking, cheap feeling, and of cheap quality. That's just a clearer way to say "minimalist", as it pertains to Teslas.
These Chinese cars look cool but most owners are still in the honeymoon period. No one has owned these cars long enough to determine their reliability. Not to mention that their tech progresses so quickly that a 3-year-old car is already considered "old".
You should have brought a Dragy to measure 0-60, just because IM says it has that much horsepower, doesn't mean it's faster than other AWD electric vehicles with less advertised power. BTW, can the rear view mirror be any smaller? The UI is just a bunch of square icons, not really much thought put into the software. If the Chinese brands can make a car that performs better, charges faster, is more reliable, has a nicer interior and more range than its competitors, then it should sell very well and by all means should outsell the competition. The only issue is if the Chinese government is subsidizing the cost of manufacturing, then other countries have no choice than to add tariffs to the imports in order to protect their domestic automotive markets, and that's exactly what you are seeing happen in the US and Europe.

Here in the US, hybrids will be the norm for a while, with Tesla profiting handsomely from Elon's investment in the Trump campaign. In the EV sphere, unless something changes, the US will be an also-ran. The Chinese approach to offering cars with so many great features as standard, with few extras, is what makes their cars so attractive. China has taken the lead as the world's premier car manufacturer.
Yes, I’d say there would be a ton of Americans out of jobs if this is allowed to be sold here.
The thing is, China won't care.
They will just sell "Everywhere else" and probably decimate the US brands in those markets.
When you pay your labor $370 per month, it's not hard to make a car cheap. It's not rocket science.
Tesla is profiting from imbecile imposed carbon taxes so every car maker has to buy "carbon credit" from Tesla in order to sell ICE cars on western markets.
Hopefully Trump will stop this charade and cut all subsidies for condescending privileged EV posers. There are a lot of poor people more deserving of help for car purchases than EV taliban a.k.a. the green rednecks.
@@AVB_42Also, They have the full EV supply chain there. Everything from mining to refining to production and assembly.

@@BBingo-v5ino its already on sale since october 2024 in china and dubai or some other markets.
Nobody ever "buys" those vehicles, they are subsidised rent-only products.
"You will own nothing and be happy".

This is not just what Tesla is up against but rather what all automakers are up against. China is a decade ahead at minimum
It is their inherent advantage of very bad emissions and safety regulations, access to nearby natural resources, and the full might of the communist government to ensure low wages and poor working conditions. If people thought the anti-union Tesla is bad, BYD, Xiaomi are worse.

Excellent. Good relative.
I don't know if the DCar Studio has the Yangwang U8 or Avatr 07. Reviewing one of these would be great.

What’s the charging like on this car. If it’s high voltage it may have really good charging.
Because China started developing Batteries in the 90's (earlier?) and EV's not long after, while "others" were still convinced "they" would win.
@rogerstarkey5390 more like late 2000s. BYD was/is vendor for Apple iPhones. Then the latest leadership (political) approved investors to acquire CATL in 2015. That company has 10,000 material science PHDs now. That's how you advance in batteries.

The IM L6 is an astonishing value car. I'm with Kyle on this one, the Xiaomi SU7 is... cripes, maybe not. Maybe I'd just pay less. And I say this as a Tesla shareholder too. And while we're criticising the Chinese for their Govt giving the companies a helping hand, aren't we doing the same, just in a different way? It all ends with a cheaper price for the buyer.
1:34 eaton's link is a 404! lamo
These top notch cars from China is why Elon bought the presidency for $250m. These brands in the US would hugely devalue Tesla.
Is the difference in price the same in China? because both are sold in China no?
People like to say Teslas have "minimalist" interiors. In reality, they are just cheap looking, cheap feeling, and of cheap quality. That's just a clearer way to say "minimalist", as it pertains to Teslas.
Correct
go pay an extra 20 grand for 20 extra bits of chintzy plastic from OEMs then
So you haven't been in this new Model 3 or what? Because it certainly isn't cheap feeling or cheap quality especially in that price range

Everybody seems to like the low price and the tech of this car. Nobody is talking about build quality and safety. Crash test is not bad, huh...
These Chinese cars look cool but most owners are still in the honeymoon period. No one has owned these cars long enough to determine their reliability. Not to mention that their tech progresses so quickly that a 3-year-old car is already considered "old".
Is it vision-based auto park or is it using ultrasonics?
It's not that hilarious Tesla auto park or summons if that's your concern fanboy. Heil Elon, heil trump.
WOuld be Interesthing could you drive in total dark with out lights on just by looking at screen
Does it drive itself?
