- I did this sound mixing for a sound class assignment in my Film School. This is an opening scene from the film "8 1/2" by Federico Fellini and is considered to be one of the best opening scenes in the history of cinema. (My Favorite)

8 1/2 is my all-time favorite film, and has been so for at least 30 years. It is a Masterpiece.
I agree … greatest film ever made . Maybe Michelangelo Antonioni films too .. The Notte
@@mordecaiesther3591La notte honestly isn’t even top 5 in Antonioni works, The passenger, Blow Up, Red desert, l’Avventura, l’eclisse are better than la notte imo
One of mine too. Cabiria is my personal favorite Fellini :) but 8 1/2 is a unique landmark of a film
In my dreams I'm a frequent flyer and I never fall. I enjoy it immensely.
Absolute magic. Unforgettable scene.
Fucking amazing sequence. I remember watching this film for the 1st time around 20 years ago, and I was immediately impacted by the magic of the dream-like style of Fellini, this sequence and this whole movie. Also really recommend the watching of City Of Women and Amarcord.

Amarcord, Roma, And the Ship sails on
Glad I watched, reminded me a little bit of an rem song, and 8 miles high.
great scene! came here after reading about the music video of Everybody Hurts by REM
Welles "Touch of Evil" tracking shot isn't a bad opening either..
Now I see we’re falling down inspired by this opening michael Douglas
Looks like this was the influence to the EVERYBODY HURTS video by R.E.M.
Best opening scene is from ‘A Touch of Evil’.
Thank you! Is it worth watching?
@@janetmannis8042 Definitely, a great film. There’s an extended version kicking around that includes scenes that were censored back in the day.

@@janetmannis8042 Even though eight and a half is my favorite film of all time a touch of evil is definitely in the top 10. Few things have given me more anxiety than the opening scene to that film lol It's perfectly directed.
@@SomethingSomethingg I’m looking after my anxiety at the moment
So I’ll bear that in mind lol
I’ll check out the other one though thank you
Have a great day
Of course it’s great as most everything by Maestro, yet do never forget the opening of the Touch of Evil (funny enough: from the same year)
All you see before the firs take has been shot once.
(Considering on the schedule’s planning one Hollywood week has been foreseen.
Wow. Brilliant.
I like LaNotte because it sort of like 81/2
Wow!
2001 a space odyssey opening
I’m sure I could find a better opening for a film.
i would have clicked "like" but it was at "333" so ... not gonna do it
well said brother , age of internet is strange and i definitely understand your decision 😂😂.
How do you know this?
@@sampaonni7592 Many italians lived in the USSR the time when this masterpiece was produced.
Not bad, but I prefer the opening scene of La Dolce Vita.
Also good.
Damned right sir!!!
Yes.
Oh, it is not!
Very dramatic but I did not understand any of it.
Same here
Saving private Ryan, now that's an opening
Yes, absolutely.

Schizophrenia in a nutshell
Lynchian AF. 👌
Lol David Lynch would get teary eyed out of happiness if someone calls his work Felliniesque.
I freaking love Lynch but Fellini is something else.
We also need to keep in mind the opening sequences of:
West Side Story
The Prince of Egypt (animated)
The Seventh Seal
Best opening scene in the history of cinema? Give me a break. Its just strange shots and focuses. David Lynch is better for that kind of stuff. I can think of dozens of movies with better opening scenes.
WTF DID I JUST READ?
