Thanks for the information. One suggestion I have made previous to OnX is to allow a user to set the size of a download map and the resolution. It takes way too much time to set up multiple "5-mile" high resolution maps if that is what I want on a long trip. I understand that would take a lot of data space on a mobile device, but that's on me.

Thanks for the feedback! The map sizes are limited due to data, but we will pass this along to our team!

@@onXOffroad I have to agree with Bryan! Definitely better for the user experience if I can zoom to an area then select "Low, Medium or High" resolution. If it gives me a warning for the data size, ok, no problem. I either have the storage space, or I don't, and like Bryan said, that's on me. It would really suck to be out on a trail with no data service and have a gap in in the map, or end up wasting data storage by overlapping.

yes. especially when my map tablet is only used for mapping and i download maps while on my own wifi at home.
the data limits make no since if i have unlimited wifi and several hundred gigs of free space on a tablet to use for this exact thing

I purchased the app on your recommendation, I am happy....but watching videos of overlanding I realize that they need to continue researching and adding things. Example, I tried routing to Horsethief cave wy. On the app it didn't appear there have been a number of occasions that has happened. This is meant to be constructive criticism, not a complaint. Raising awareness that there is work to be done, and the developer needs to stay vigilant. It is very user friendly and simple. Huge ➕. Thank you Nate, enjoy Colorado. Last year I went from glacier national to New Mexico flip flopping back and forth over the rockies. Amazing!

Thank you Nate. This just gave me a great understanding of the saved maps. My guess now there will not be a glitch when following a map? THis was a HUGE help and looking forward to using it Saturday!

I enjoy watching Nate, and I love my On-X mapping program that I have used for a couple months now. This would have been a bit more informative for me if you had shown what I do next. Maps have been downloaded, now what? I haven't used this feature yet but I'm planning on it. I'm sure I can figure it out, but can I rename these maps? Can I see my current position if I'm out of cell service? Can I still leave breadcrumbs? How do I access them on my phone? Things like that would have been a helpful addition to this video.

Hi Warren! Thanks for the feedback, these are all great questions. We're working on more in depth video content and we are excited to share it! You can rename your downloaded maps, and you can see your location when you're out of cell service thanks to the GPS function of your device!

@@onXOffroad Well thank you onX for such a quick response. Any response from a company at all these days is a rarity. You just made my membership that I purchased a few weeks ago even a better value. Thanks again!

Hey guys, great product! I've seen some other comments on this, but I can't find if you have created anymore content on how we use the Offline Maps once we have them on our phones? If I'm out of cell service range, I don't see how I will be able to see myself on the Offline Map? Thanks!

This is what I am finding - guessing I just haven’t figured my way to it, but I thought once downloaded, it would allow you to navigate like you do normally by putting in a destination and then having it find your GPS location - nobody seems to go into that part of it. If figured out all of the info in the video before watching it. Just can’t figure out how to use it effectively quite yet.

Thanks For the Video, but if it doesn't download on your PC, What's the best approach to downloading a bunch of 5 mile detailed maps and getting it on an SD card and then transferring it to my Garmin Tread SXS GPS?

I very much like this feature as well as now being able to use car play in my jeep. One question however as I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I assume the answer is yes but would like to confirm that the GPS continues to work and display position data even with no phone signal?

    • @onXOffroad
      @onXOffroad  2 года назад

That's correct, your GPS function doesn't rely on cell service but you will need to make sure your maps are downloaded beforehand!

    Hi Nate,
If you DL a bunch of 5 mile resolutions in one area will OnX automatically go from one 5 mile area to the next 5 mile area that is DL to our app?. Make sense?

Okay so once I have the offline maps loaded on my tablet and I get to the location, no internet service, how do I then use the maps i have downloaded, go to offline maps and open them up? That question aside, good video.

I don't understand all the comments here about 5 mile maps. I can downlaod a 150 mile map on my desktop at low res just like he stated in the video. Am I missing something?
