I saw the Lovin Spoonful at the Hollywood Bowl June 1966 with the Byrds, the Beach Boys, Chad and Jeremy. I was 14. My very first concert. Yes, it was spectacular!
You are truly blessed to able tosee ,hear thse great legendary bands! Also still alive e to tell about it! I was born in the 50s ,raised in 60, educated in 70s and retired in 2016! Aloha from Hawaii
@MK-su6eg Thanks, man. Yeah, that was quite a summer for a not-quite-14 year old. Labor Day weekend same summer I saw the Yardbirds in my hometown, Stockton, CA. Jeff Beck baled on them a couple of days earlier after a gig in San Jose. But, Jimmy Page was there. If course, no one knew who he was at the time. Aloha!
Oh boy, I loved this song as a teenager.. Still l♡ve it at 69 years old..We were so lucky to have been able to experience thus time, this music, at times I just want to go back Anyone else?
I can't imagine living on a city street An summer heat rising from concrete Living in the country is a real treat Country life is sweet it can't be beat Freedom an fresh air life is complete
très bon souvenir de ce morceau, avec des musiciens créatifs ! Dirais qu'il y avait beaucoup de fantaisie ! Cela m'avais beaucoup marquée étant jeune et déjà très fan !! Merci à vous tous du L.S.
Kudo's to all, thanks John for this song, it is incredible and your brother, powerful listening to each other..of course, then, we had the time...cheers...
Maybe the most brilliant American pop bands in the 1965-66 period, with Sebastian almost single-handedly writing a few hit albums, plus a movie soundtrack of timeless songs.
“Glorious” indeed….so much greatness here, now on stage, and then. What an event. Joe sounds great! But why are these two drummers so hypnotic? There’s something different (besides great talent) here, but I don’t know enough to say what.
I always knew this group as The Loving Spoonful not the living spoonful. But whatever you guys want to call them it doesn't matter because they're still playing and wonderful to listen to
Love the song, happy that these guys are still at it. Personally though, I’ve reached the point that I can’t do nostalgia acts. Two hour shows with 15 minutes of music. The song is on my playlist though, so they’re still getting paid by me.
This song is still the official kick off to summer ANTHEM!!!!!!!! In high school, getting out for summer break driving around and blasting this song!!!
Fifteen musicians on stage and nobody to play the car horns or the jackhammer during the bridge? Oh, wait, I did hear something buried in the background. Did someone drop their tamborine?
John Sebastian is not singing because his voice is shot. Still he soldiers on, and is very engaging and entertaining in his solo gigs: a living legend.-) Mark is his younger brother and with Steve Boone is one of this song's co-writers. Joe Butler is the LS main singer--and used to be the (excellent) drummer in the first LS lineup. BTW Joe is a superb drummer. Just watch him on 'Darlin Be Home Soon' on the Ed Sullivan show video...
Thats the problem with some live stage acts, all this pre song small talk jibber-jabber. Just announce the tune and play! The other thing is why do they need 20 musicisns to recreate the original studio cut. They played it in the day live with the 4 members and did just fine..incredible, and TWO drummers?..why? Robert at 69.
Yes, interesting to watch. But I'm darned if I can tell what having these two drummers adds to what one would provide. They're just kind of mirror-twins playing essentially the same liines.
OMG😁 I So Love 🤗 this song 🎵🎼🎶🙏 I Now ✌️ live in the ❤️of DTLA 🏗️🍀🐦 I is So hot right Now, our building told US we have to turn off ALL AC, etcetera ( I live in the Shining)
Please take down these Lovin' Spoonful videos. We have official video up of superior quality and this doesn't properly represent the show. Paul from Wild Honey
Paul, I just saw this message. I put a prompt to the official videos at the top of the description. I think these fan-shot videos are entertaining for the intros and banter prior to the songs. For that reason I think they're historically important. I wouldn't want to take anything away from The Autism Think Tank. I hope this is satisfactory. Let me know if you think otherwise.
@@applerecordsandtapes4095 Yes, the "Official" subscriber's version lacks the banter between songs. On this song, specifically, you miss the fraternal interplay between John & Mark. I know, first hand, that the show went long, but the editors did us no favours cutting out the introductions. This is shot at an unfortunate angle, but you get a representation of what happened on stage.
Horrible notar que ese tema sencillo Lo hacen así Se nota que es lo único que hicieron bueno One hit wonder, se parecen a los perdedores de la guerra de Vietnam
John Sebastian used to be a great guitarist and singer. Well, I will say he was never a fantastic singer but he could sing with feeling. But, for the past quarter century he has sounded just awful. I’m glad that he did not attempt to sing lead here. But, his guitar playing has also degenerated a great deal.
omg this is such a musical mess! All those musicians on stage and it sounded like half of them had no idea how the song went? And vocally, that was just horrible... why not have someone singing who hasnt lost their voice and can give the song the vocal it needs.... talk about destroying your own legend.
This is glorious. I cannot imagine a more poetic sunset for these aging hippies. God bless their Lovin' Spoonful souls.
its actually a total trainwreck! Im not sure what is glorious about it!
Não eram hippies

It's so nice to see these wonderful guys together again (RIP Zal). It's too bad about John's voice. But he has such a great attitude.
True legends on stage. Love that the tell how the song came to be❤
A true classic of the 60s. As soon as the song started playing on the radio I was carried away by its magic. It still delivers to this day. 😊🎉❤
When this song first came out it was a HUGE hit among many other huge hits one after the other, every week another great tune by a different group.
I totally agree. I love all the Spoonful stuff but if Butler had sung more leads, it might have been even better.
The days you could turn on the radio and not have to think about whether you liked the music or not.
I am 62 and this song never gets old...
No matter how old you are this song is a timeless classic!
64--------- Michigan growing up.
67--first date
66 and totally agree with you!!!!

Joe Butler had a great voice... especially when he sang lead on the songs FULL MEASURE and NEVER GOING BACK.
AND, Butchie's Tune!!
I agree. Butler was good enough that he could have been the lead singer.

I’m 75 and know this song well
It was an honor to be part of this bro
I was a sophomore in high school when this was released. It's still as fresh as it was back then.
It was a huge hit for old and young,I remember my dad turning up the radio
What a wonderful soulful song! Love this music!
One of the best song I ever heard!
So Dang Awesome, Play It Again Lovin Spoonfuls!😊😊😊😊😊😊
RIP Zal you were a showman and you will be missed 😢
Sebastian was so instrumental in the evolution of rock and roll. Laurel Canyon bunch.
Sweet! Full production, extended version. John Sebastian and his brother and Steve Boone...rock on.
Total masterpiece of a song.
Wow, the only one missing from this is Zollie. God rest his soul.😔 Awesome to see them reunited.😊😊😊 John, Joe, and Steve.😊😊😊
Glad, though, to see one of the guitarists with a Guild like Zal's.
“Glorious” indeed….so much greatness here, now on stage, and then. What an event. Joe sounds great!

Joe Butler one of the greatest drummers in Rock & Roll history.
hugs to everyone there!
LOL I love these guys I was 8 years old when this came out
Thanks guys for your gorgeousness
This is one of my favourite songs, just reminds me of the lovely carefree summers I had growing up
I love it! Brings back so many memories!🙏🇺🇸🥰❤️
Yes indeed it does some good ones
That's a band and a half! I remember it on AM radio like it was yesterday.
what a special performance. I hope i grow old and perform greats one day like these cats
great song great city
This really takes me back. Love it! ❤
It's great to see them together

Have to thank Die Hard With A Vegeance introducing me to this song way back in 1996
Love!!!!!!!!!
John Sebastian is such a great guy
PS joe sounds great
Wish Zal was still alive to enjoy this.

John Sebastian es un gran músico.
Just Fantastic
Good Stuff!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeez play the song already!
Saw them at cafe wha nyc village 1960’s
John Sebastian is such a loveable man. Really a very nice fellow.
One drummer left handed, the other drummer right handed.

I live in Detroit. In 67. Well. Prophetic.😁
Why is Joe Butler singing lead and not on drums.John, why aren't you singing lead on your biggest hit.
Sadly his voice has completely gone. It's amazing that these guys are even on the same stage together considering their turbulent history.
❤
the song starts at 7:21 FYI. could have been patched to the mixing board, then added to the clip.
Es Sebastian el de rojo ? Esta cancion del año que naci 1966 !!
MUITA CONVERSA...
Joe's a good man ,,,
Time to call it a day chap's.
Why isn't Steve Boone up front with the rest of the guys?
Did they even mention John B. Sebastian?
I've got a fever - need more Jackhammer.
It starts @ 3:37
Dont ya just miss Zal jumping all over the dang stage???
Who couldn't miss his crazy jubilant stage antics?
Or his blatant camera-hogging?
@@benjclarke3010 hahaha, Zal was a character, like a punker in a folk band, but it is what it is, lol
Glad to see an autoharp on stage.
Somebody is there with a Guild just like Zally's.
On purpose, I am sure!
Ahí hay más de 15 músicos y creo que se oía mejor cuando eran menos y sin tanta tecnología
Saw them in a park in Arkansas...free...no Sebastian sounded really good 2001
This isn't the band or the lead singer.
Just a few weeks after corona
Zal’s spirit is on that stage guitar fell over 👻🎸who knows 😮
What a huge outfit
Just play the song...
John lost his voice about 40 years ago..the audience usually sing the songs
Butler does a brilliant job though.
John Sebastien no longer sings his own songs. So sad!!
4 guitars lol.
John doesn't sing any more??
is he using autotune or is that his real voice.
Real.
Serious backup

Time to retire, live on from recordings, don't embarrass yourself. All due respect, but when its time
Ok I agree. But I loved hearing the Sebastian anecdotes.
Love this song and this band, but boy what a mess!
Yeah that's what I thought. The youthful essence has seemed to have been lost.
Why bother ?? Really !?
