I found a piece of driftwood in some rapids and now it's gonna be a bookmark.

- I accidentally gave away my trusty dusty wooden bookmark and after trying my best to use something else to save my spot in my book, it was clear: a wood bookmark is the way to go.
Join me as I journey deep down the Colorado River to find the perfect bookmark branch and turn it into a bookmark.

As an avid book reader... the beginning was absolutely crazy to me 😅
Me as an Avoiding Books at all Cost Reader I conquer
Oh my gosh ikr! 🫣
Ik, the dog earing 😭
crazy like a fox
@@LucciShack you mean concur?
It seems like you finally found a good solution to your bookmark problem, but… have you considered just tearing out each page as you finish reading it? Then you always know what page is next: the first one that is still in the book!
What did the poor book do to you to deserve that
Pain
I do this, however, if I read late at night when tired, I sometimes forget what I previously read, and one can't refresh one's memory by reading the pages before.
I..... have no words.

After watching your first bookmark video, I decided to make my own. That one turned out so well I made dozens to give out to friends.
hell yeah
Never thought I'd be so invested in the creation of a bookmark.
I know right! Something about the story telling just captured my attention
Those bookmarks looked like a slice of bacon so trying to eat it is totally understandable. Also, the pinecone bit killed me 😂
honestly it looks even more bacon like in person
you were killing me at the start😢
both woods were beautiful and I love how fun your content is.
As a lover of books, the intro 2 minutes to this made me laugh and cry at the same time. Very well done - shared it with my mom because she's the one who shared a love of books with me in the first place!
This is a prime example of a video on how to make a relatively uninteresting subject(a bookmark) into something very fun and interesting! Loved that! Thank you!
we love an episode of whats in that pile :)))), my day has been made, cant wait to watch the video and see the bookmark
The highs and lows of this bookmark saga really hit me hard! Gripping content!
That beginning is so chaotic 😂
Also, I would genuinely love to have that wooden bookmark
those bookmarks are beautiful!! love the color of the first it's too bad it was so old and dry.
also love the comedy you have in responding to comments
This one was so fun to watch, I loved the beginning shenanigans!
That first one was absolutely gorgeous! I wonder if infusing it with resin would make it more durable? Also, the intro was hilarious 😂 I love your humor
God I love your videos! The humour but also the amazing stories and overall beautiful end product! Makes me want to make my own wooden bookmark!
I love the look of "Oh you!" you gave the tamarisk bookmark.
Your videos always bring so much joy to me. I feel like I go on a journey with you each time.😅
Those are both beautiful bookmarks ❤
You would never expect these plain looking woods to look so cool when you out oil on them
Another fun video! I never knew I could enjoy learning about trees this much until I found your videos 😊
The thumbnail was a piece of art
C H A T O Y A N C Y
What is the darkest coloured wood known? It would be amazing to see you do literally anything with that
omg it would
@@barbara_LLI guess it.. wood
I absolutely love your videos keep up the great work!
So glad, I’m going to have to try this. All the tortillas I’ve been eating have been going straight to my gut.
My comfort channel. ❤
Loved the narration and the extend u went to to find the perfect bookmark woof piece HAHA
Love your storytelling style
this was such a joy to watch
So good what tasty pieces of wood!
Lmao as a book lover you killed me with that start 🤣 the folded corners 💀🤣🤣
Lovely bookmark!
I know it wouldn't be all natural, but it would help with the structural integrity (I think): what if you soaked it in resin?
That beginning was chaos and I am here for it
god you're such a good storyteller
You always make me laugh. I am a book addict and to watch you try your various techniques was hilarious. I know you try to hide your smarts but…….
Those bookmarks are gorgeous! And as someone with no lathe & very little skill, it looks like something I could have a go at doing. Which is good, because my current system of skim reading the book from the start to find my page is becoming time consuming
I love this so much. My struggle on all my outdoor wanderings is that I want to take just about every piece of wood I see but have no idea what it will turn into. I like how you listen to the wind and the water and find the right branch that wants to be your bookmark.
Thanks!
One dedicated bookmark maker 🎉🎉
you should use red bay wood for south carolina, beautiful wood, some of my favorite
This was a really fun video my dad has simular problems with keeping his place in books so i think this might be the perfect gift to make for him.
Have you ever tryed to make a pestle and mortar? I fell like that would be a fun "what's in that pile?" video.
Keep up the great work!
Omg that bit was amazing
He blesses us with another video, YES LORD
This was a really entertaining video!
The Overstory! Great book!
Gorgeous
Love this!
1:47 they probably meant fold the page your on when you finish, and unfold the corner when you start.
A wooden bookmark is nicer though
Beautiful
My six year old daughters LOVE your channel! We learn so much about wood and, the baking segments are awesome! We all enjoy your humor and philosophy.
Glad you didnt stop at Step 2!
A+ book choice.
This was fun! 😁
Dang, I need one of those!
I love this man
Oh man that's so cool. I want to try...
😁😆🤣 Very funny beginning! 😊
Man I love your channel. History of the trees, Baking, woodworking, and the love of nature. Love all of it!
The folded pages hurt my soul... it is good you went back to the logical solution of using tree carcasses.
Holy smokes, randomly checked your website and there was a vase that was for sale. I can say I now own one of your vases! #cheers
I think the solution to the brittleness is stabilizing resin, you place the bookmark in a dish of it in a vacuum chamber, pull the vacuum and let it soak in as it cures (or a penetrating resin you pour over would work similarly) getting in it and hardening it
Yeah I’ve got a stabilizing setup but this just didn’t feel like a great candidate for it tbh
I absolutely enjoy all of your videos, but this is my favorite one so far! (Don’t let the other videos know though as I don’t want to hurt their feelings.)
Great video I personally just use those free bookmarks the library gives you
having yet another horrible day so came back to rewatch ur videos :-)
fantastic opening skit
I absolutely love watching your videos! I have never turned the first piece of wood and was wondering if you would do a video on what it would look like to get started in wood turning? Maybe a beginner lathe and tools and what TO and what NOT TO do. Thanks again for the great content!
Thank you for your awesomeness! Because justin... You inspired me to do wood carving and do wood turning. Thank you for your ideas and inspiration. Because before i did wood working, i was very depressed and i was in a dire need for a new hobby Besides music and making pvc guns... I never thought i was going to love this hobby so much...
You are the most inspiring, creative, calming, youtuber ive ever seen! Keep it up! Thank you again and again! You dont know how much you helped me!
Greetings from the Netherlands!
i love your VIDEOS 😀😀😀
1:22 I didn't know chickens were that passive 😂
Can you make a video about what are the best tools for woodworking and tips for beginners to know?
I just need to add that The Monkey Wrench Gang being marked with a bit of wood from the Colorado river is a perfect choice 🐒🔧
Dude you are hilarious😂
You could try a wood hardener like cactus juice or PC petrifier to make the punky wood more solid.
10/10 video with a successful bookmark😂❤
Gonna be all the way honest, as long as I don’t go like a week without picking it up I’m just gonna remember what page I was on. But I’m also a bit of a binge reader. I don’t pick up books that often but when I do I’ll go through a 1000 page novel in like a week
There may not have been any bookmark branches in that pile but I'm pretty sure I saw two, maybe three outlet cover boards on the shelf of chaos. Or maybe they were cutlery. Hard to say.
I'm glad that you went with some bacon in the end
Nice
That intro was great
You could seriously sell this stuff!!!
When you oiled that second bookmark i let out a " whooaaah"
I find is so funny how he does this in the stupidest ways to make a video and honestly I love it😂
While watching this video I’m also watching Stranger Things and it’s crazy because I’m just listening to this call voice and then I’m hearing some terrifying noises and it’s like what happened and it’s thundering outside.
The level of dad jokeness is on point 😂
✨bookmark chatoyancy✨
You absolute beautiful troll!
That opening was a work of art! XD
I just had a peice of paper that said your on this side but hey, whatever cuts your wood
1:40 i do that but i only do that whenever I stop reading and stop at a page, thats when I just fold one flap and do that
Ngl I'm loving these wild thumbnails
Hey man! Just wanna tell you I really love your videos and want to start doing woodworking at some point when I have the tools and equipment! I've also really been meaning to make that Douglas Fir shortbread but haven't gotten around to it 😆
People who make reading books their entire personality once again proving in these comments that they completely lack any and all understanding of humour.
Absolutely gorgeous, although I preferred the chicken lol
Have you considered seeing these?! I’d buy one!
I think he saw them a lot while making them :p
I sold a lot of them when the tiktok of this went viral a couple years back but they were just too much work to make them cost effectively
@@Justinthetrees that makes sense. They do look a time consuming and I kinda doubt you could recoup that in a bookmark, regardless of how nice it is.
Hello from British Columbia Canada
🇨🇦🖐👍❤🌲🌳☘🛶
lol this was funny
10/10 video, not too long either :3
I’d buy one of these book marks
You only mark the page that you stop on, not the pages in between. The dog eared method could work if you follow the first bit and also fold the corner back up when you resume reading
i started watching your videos after the first bookmark video you made! feel free to send one to me in Canada!!
Great reading material. I had an English professor for my environmental writing class kind of subtly suggest The Monkey Wrench Gang to us all while insisting that doing illegal things was bad and wrong, but that literature is important. But if we read the book, we should definitely *not* take any ideology or strategy from it. Apparently somebody at some school got in trouble for having it, so it made sense that he was weird about it. But he definitely knew what he was doing.
Yeah MONKEY WRENCH GANG!!
