I cant wait for an update vid on this!!!! This sub is at the top of my list for an upgrade! I have an sdr-18 with a 13mm x max and it sounds amazing in my subaru spare tire area in full IB with a 10 inch hole to the outside. Thank you for all your posts!
Also~ You could maybe mount a larger baffle on top of your current baffle with the cutout for the 18 inverted so you can go back to the 12 or 15 if you like?
There is magic in this video and it's nice to see it on display every once in a while.

I've got four IB3-18"s myself.
In addition to wider freq response ... it's worth noting lowering inductance also elevates actual driver speed.
- Mass impacts sensitivity.
- Backspace volume impacts bottom octave sensitivity specifically.

i'm glad you mentioned shorting rings. have you done, or could you do a video explaining them in more detail? i am definitely an audio first guy. i have often been asked: "why do you have such a great system in THIS car?" i tell them i can't afford both so i go with a nice system. they never seem to understand. they think that a system is just another "box you check" to have a cool car. as a music lover and a musician, the choice is easy.

mounting wise, i'd say keep the motor down to preserve trunk space.
I would love to say the car is first, as that would indicate that I could purchase whatever vehicle I REALLY wanted however, for us "less fortunate few" I have built the Jeep around the system. B-E-A-U-TIFUL sub. As for mounting, I would say motor hidden as you seem to be limited for space and use your trunk/boot for a lot of other storage.
This sub on paper looks no more different like the rest of them, what makes it good i think is the dimension, for a 18" runs more effortlessly
A lot of different subs have similar specs and perform similarly. Build quality, brand name and price comes into play as well🙃

I have the Fi IB3 18 V2 in trunk baffle. I was going to upgrade to OE but I'm just sticking to what I have, for now.
The power handling is nice on those OE's
You never see Peter install AE subs in a car looking for SQL. Maybe they sound slightly better, but would be as fun.
OA = one audio… different animal to the ib3, lots of distortion lowering elements in the motor, way more linear throw… spiders are bigger for more control, it’s not a small upgrade 👍🏼
There’s two in the uk at least of the 24” SI… Steven pegg has one and vil sa has one also 👍🏼 hopefully a few 24” one audio too 😎

Beautiful sub! but Alpine? One of the worst sounding drivers ive heard. Try CDT Audio, best sound Ive heard so far.
