  • I had the same subwoofer in all 3 different applications, in the begining I had it in 1.5 cu ft sealed enclosure, then in infinite baffle manifold and finaly I made a ported enclosure. So here I am comparing frequency respoce measurments between all of them.

I plan on putting 2x 10” Infinity Kappa’s in the rear deck of my Ford Fusion. You and PSSound have convinced me that is how to accomplish what I have been looking for.

Finally put my Ultimax 18 in my car in an IB config. It's pretty crazy how easily it plays the lows. If my amp didn't have a fixed 10Hz 2nd order bessel highpass. I'd be flat to 10Hz.
I'm surprised how well it blended with my reardeck speakers that I only use for 200Hz and below. I thought I would possibly need a 2nd sub for the 55Hz-100Hz area. But I don't.
Thanks for your videos which helped me figure out what cutout size to go with for the sub. I now have my trunk space back because I don't need a giant box in there anymore.

My old sealed box was good but when I made a Passive radiator box for my sub I gained over 10dB at 17-22Hz. And 23Hz+ was still very good gains as well. This is with a UM10 in 1.5cuft sealed box vs a 19Hz tuned PR (Acts like ported) box.
In the next few months I do want to try my UM18 IB build. I think it'll work great thanks to your video from a few months back testing the cutout size needed for IB.
For now I'm going to be adding some 2.5in Dayton Audio full range speakers to my car soon that I just finished building. Was a simple spur of the moment build. Just some hole saw rings for an enclosure and it plays to 200Hz nicely. Takes EQ seemingly well. And sounded sinfully good at my desk when I was testing them. Them suckers get loud. (90dBA with ease which is louder than I need music)

Out of curiosity, what sub model is it and what are the recommended enclosure sizes from Alpine for Sealed and Vented?
